Suicide Squad: General Discussion and Speculation - Part 18

For the ones that don't know, this is what James Wan said:

James Wan: “The kind of filmmaker that I am, you know, even my darker horror films generally are still very fun, and I think that’s important. I think Aquaman is a character that is, you know, a lot of people have made fun of over the years, and I just think it’s fun to actually show a really different, cool, badass side to this character, but at the same time, let’s not forget to have fun with it.”

I think this is the right approach, Momoa is very charismatic as a person, he could be badass, a little violent and enjoy it, they have more freedom with Aquaman than with other characters, they should take advantage of it.

I wonder how are they going to do the underwater world in Aquaman.

I like the way Snyder presented those characters from a different perspective, so you don't see how Aquaman really looks underwater (in film) or how Flash's speed will be presented (in film).

Exactly, but some prefer forced juvenile humour because... it's "fun"!! :o:

What movies have "forced juvenile humour"?

And some people should stop being so gullible and start thinking by themselves, critics are known to change their minds, logical, opinions are subjective:

If people think a movie is crap, it is because they think it is crap. It is not because they are "gullible"or because the critics said so. People are able to think for themselves. Speak for yourself by all means, but do not speak for others.

I didn't really like how Momoa looked like he was holding his breath in that 6sec clip of him swimming around. I hope James Wan figures how to make it look like Momoa's breathing water, and at home in the depths of the ocean. Also it would be cool to have at least one shot of him breaking out of the sea in a mighty wave, and have this royal presence about him. I'm still not sure how they're going to make his talking to sea creatures work without it looking too campy, but I suppose it can be done. Aquaman is definitely one of the trickiest members of the JL to put to screen.

Trailer was chaotic and fun, but does seem a bit misleading. I don't think the film will be as funny as the trailer is trying to come off, nor does it need to be, but it makes me antsy that WB is meddling with Ayer's film. His tweet is reassuring, so I hope the film isn't tampered too much after BvS. Tamper with the other films like Flash or Aquaman, not something already done in SS. This film looks to have plenty of dark humor though, which is fine by me.

That line in the beginning of the trailer was kinda funny though, considering how Lex already blew up the Capitol building with Superman inside in BvS.

That shot of Leto with the grenade is great. Jai still looks mad good as Boomer and the shot of Margot with the hammer was probably the best Harley smile we've seen from her. Looks balls to the walls great, this can't get here soon enough.

I think they didn't want to show how he looks breathing underwater, so the safest thing was not showing him breathing. But yeah, it looked like he was holding it for a bit :)

I can't believe how great Leto looks in those trailers!

I think the Joker character is not that hard to sell. But what he has shown me goes way over my best expectations!

Campea said he talked with someone very close to Suicide Squad.

They told him the trailers haven't even shown the funniest parts. He said the movie is VERY DARK, but filled with humor throughout.

It's nice to hear that. :D
I'm glad that there is still darkness within. :sly:

But sadly, the 'reshoots for humor only' rumor was quite ingrained already. :(
Even there are some people who were thinking that newest trailer was the result of reshoots. Oh well. :funny:

The vibe i'm getting from Suicide Squad reminds me of a Tarantino film somewhat.

#SuicideSquad “reshoots for humor” is silly. When a studio loves your movie and asks what else you want, go for it! #ThanksWB #moreaction

This makes me so happy for many reasons.

1. Thank goodness they are not shooting more Jokes, Suicide Squad is not mean to be funny. Look at the goddamn title. All the clickbait articles and those people online who spread these rumors can suck it.

2. I hope it's true, Warner Brothers likes the movie and confident that they are investing more money so that David Ayer can put the icing on the cake. More action? Bring it on.

There will be plenty more. Batman plays a much bigger role than anyone is expecting in this film.

With this kind of power, I demand that DCEU to begin spewing new movies every month!

With at least 2 movies a year, this is already starting to feel like a tv series, big screen style.

Will Smith says, if they use the comic where Deadshot dresses as Batman in Ben's movies... he's ready.

Although I think his growl seems more Bale than Batfleck, lmao

God No. He can't even play a convincing character that many have never heard of, let alone Batman.

Or maybe, he just is all wrong for any kind of disturbed, killer villain.

Will Smith, so lame.

If they're gonna keep the tone, subjects and look of their films like MoS, BvS and SS - I demand more movies a year...

I guess I'm the only one who thought Will Smith was fine.

My appetite is too big. :o

And DCEU sharing spaces in a year with other CBMs.
I hope superhero fatigue is not kicking audience already. :nrv:
At least if the DCEU plan is still in set, we'll get steady movie supply at least 2 movies a year.

If you're just gonna stick around with your "so lame" catchphrase... don't stick around.

They should at least bump it up to 3 movies a year. At the very least.
Seriously speaking, I would prefer quality over quantity. As long as people behind it are truly interested in delivering - I'm 100%, even if the result can be far from perfect or underwhelming. All I need - to see true effort to deliver. Honesty. What I don't need for sure - filler crap.
