Suicide Squad: General Discussion and Speculation - Part 18

I guess I'm the only one who thought Will Smith was fine.

He's more than fine in what I've seen from SS so far, and Will Smith is just a great actor in general -- his recent string of flops aside and personal views aside.

Will Smith is doing a movie with Ed Norton right now.

I guess its fair to assume the reshoots are including a stuntman Deadshot with the mask right now?

Not surprised with Ayer's statements. He has been saying this has a surprising amount of humor since early days. It pretty much sounds like SUICIDE SQUAD will be serious, violent and certain characters will infuse humor. So pretty much like the comic. I'm also seeing several types of humor. Flag's is drier, Harley's is sarcastic, will bounce off Deadshot well, etc. Loving it so far.

Looks like bat**** crazy fun all round. Harley looks and sounds amazing and Leto's Joker looks like a great new spin on the character. Cant wait.

Agreed. Personally, I want this film to be dark, heavy, intense, and mature, but infused with some comedy and black humor -- which is exactly how it's looking for far.

I liked BvS a lot but think and have for some time that SS will be the better movie. Ayer is a damn good director and this looks like his movie all day long.

And Margot Robbie, just wow!

I think a lot of people are confusing levity and humour with "fun" (and in the process grossly oversimplifying the situation) Take Mad Max fury road for example, a film with little to know laughs or quips but youd be hard pressed to find any film that fun.

BvS was badly written and worst of all badly paced, therefore a little levity and humour would have helped it...but it wouldn't have stopped it from being a bad film, actual exciting moments and decent writing is what would have saved it. Suicide Squad can be as grim as it wants, as long as its got exciting scenes and great writing then no one can fault it. So this idea that jokes = good, is flat out wrong.

A guy, who places Dark Knight Rises on the second place in his list of best CB films, is talking about bad writing and pacing of BvS... Very funny.

We really are just gonna eat our own here for the foreseeable future, aren't we? Both sides communicating in ways that just add to animosity and hard feelings, aided by Internet anonymity.

It's tiring peeps. Maybe it's me staring down the barrel of 40 years but... Yeah it's freaking tiring fanboy nation.

Both sides... Maybe we can dial it down from 11?

I have always thought that there was NO way for anyone to top Ledger's Joker, but now, I'm not so sure... Leto is looking more and more promising. I just LOVE what I have seen so far and it looks like he is going to have a good amount of screen time. I definitely think we are going to have some serious Leto fans after this movie comes out.

Thought the same about Nicholson, and while I still think there are too many things (largely external) that will prevent anyone from "topping" Ledger for me personally, I want to feel the same way about Leto that i do for Hamil, Romero, and Nicholson...that all of them are excellent, different and more importantly the best thing about the worlds they are in.

I believe TDKR was a better film than BVS.
You can believe all you want. It doesn't change the fact that TDKR got a pass for poor writing, terrible pace, plot holes, weak motivations, gimmick plot twists, terrible logic, lack of exposition, moments of horrible acting. And BvS was crucified for lesser.

And I liked MOS and BVS far more than I liked anything in TDKRISES... Is this what is going to be litigated HERE until SS drops in theaters? I am SO happy my podcast has kept me away from here recently. I get to scratch my fanboy itch WITHOUT constant arguments. It's refreshing.

That's the great thing about humans isn't it? We all have different opinions on things. I think TDKR had some moments that I wasn't crazy about and thought it could have been improved, but over all... I loved Tom Hardy as Bane and Christopher Nolan always does a great job and bringing you into his world... That Airplane scene at the beginning is one of the best things I have ever seen in cinema. A lot of times, I will just play that first scene and not even watch the rest of the movie.

All I'm talking is insane double standards among certain fans when it comes to evaluating something.

Anyone else loving the music choices in the trailers?

So, who do you think is going to die in SS?

I guess one is obvious :)

But what about the others?

Who do you think is safe?

Do you think they'll kill more characters now to bring more characters later in SS2?

looooved the newest trailer. i couldn't be more excited for this movie.

Can you accurately say BvS had script problems if you didn't read the script? Editing problems...sure, script problems? You need to read the script to say that.

Honestly... That's EXACTLY what I am hoping for.
More like a water-down Tarantino film --Ayer will be limited in the scope by the PG rating. Had it been R rated, Ayer would have surely gone full blown Tarantino.
