Suicide Squad: General Discussion and Speculation - - - Part 20

The weak villain thing doesn't surprise me, with all the great villains as protagonists. The subway monster stuff never really jived with me.

Its perhaps telling that in all the trailers yet, they've not actually clearly shown or revealed the actual villain of the movie. I mean, unless it actually is supposed to be the Joker, but the way they've framed it. . . doesn't really seem like it. Especially since the Joker doesn't normally come with an army of magic super powered rock monster things(?).

Yea it was the one thing in that amazing January trailer that I thought looked like it could be hit or miss.

I can already feel the nightmares I'm going to have over that Rick Ross song with Joker in the music video. Jesus.
Great.

From what I heard its more about SS doing such a great job of marketing the movie and keeping mystery about the villain/thing in the subway. That when you finally see it its...meh.

But as others have said it shouldn't be end all be all. Also, it appears to be at least something different.

So now Schnepp is saying SS reshoots are also partly the result of BvS? Saying it was a sort of a course correct.

He never said that before. I wonder why.

Why is he still talking about SS reshoots  Schnepp is annoying now and I use to like him. You tell that even his colleagues are annoyed by his over the top hatred towards BvS too. I don't watch Collider for that reason alone because he always finds a way to reference BvS in an negative light, move on dude

Yeah at this point who cares about the re-shoots. They're balls deep into the post production process, doing test screenings, recording the score. We get the last trailer in about a month. We're just counting down the days and enjoying the influx of marketing material.

I'm not gonna watch the clips, featurettes and all that ****, though. After Comic-Con I'll be on this board sporadically to avoid seeing too much footage.

They had a scrolling Suicide Squad banner during the Warriors/Cavs game Sunday. It was in front of the analysts table, I thought they were going to premiere a commercial. Maybe tomorrow?

In regards to the weak villain...

I'll put a spoiler tag in case..
This is what Ayer said last year... :loco::loco:
You know, all these movies are about defeating the evil alien robot from *****ing Planet X, before it destroys the world with its ticking clock. And who the ***** cares?

Joker is also a villain (obviously), and there is someone who could easily be seen as a villain/antagonist who was fantastic IMO. What a bad***.

You cant take what he says seriously. He is just a "talking head" not a reporter. So he has no inside info. He just hears things that start out on places like this and treats it like fact for some reason. I mean when the SS reshoots first came out he was saying those are set up months in advance so it wasn't a reaction to BvS. But today he is saying they are a reaction to BvS. :loco:

Yeah lately he just constantly pisses me off.

Was this on an episode of Collider?

Rating sounds good. The MPAA are a fickle bunch but I'm sure Ayer tested the limits a bit.

I'm actually glad Ayer had to do a PG13 movie. When he is allowed to go full R it gets a little too nasty for my liking.

In terms of language or violence? I haven't seen any of his R movies.

From IMDB
The big bad/villain was incredibly weak. There's not much they can change, I think. While the villain plays a decent role in the movie, its not a pivotal role (like Apocalypse). But there were lots of great things like character interactions, development, action, etc.

Joker was good/great, I guess. I'm not a huge Joker fan, but Leto did great.

Yes. Batman doesn't kill. Lol. He also saves someone, and does something that is very much in line with what Batman would do.

Not a huge Joker fan? Heathen!

Nope. I'm doing oscar bait right now. Laughed my ass off with Hateful 8, moving onto The Revenant. Then I'll look into End of Watch.

Well if that's true then how is this even a problem. As long as the (already quite villainous themselves) protagonists work, who cares about the bad guy they fight.
As I already said, it seems to be working great for Marvel, so why not here.
