Suicide Squad: General Discussion and Speculation - - - - - - - - - - - Part 28

Nothing new. An executive wants something different and asks the director to do so. He's not entirely happy with the idea so they meet in the middle. That's how movies have been and always will be made. But because these aren't critical darlings, out of nowhere these articles emerge about problems in the studio. Making it sound like it's a living hell in there.

Meanwhile, over at Disney Land, everything's perfect. All sunshine and rainbows. No one ever mentions about problems there, no one ever mentions the marketing budget.

The problem is not with the movie, it's with you. Get it through your heads - just because you don't like a movie, that does not mean it's poorly made!

This is the epitome of making excuses.

I don't think there is a bias against #DC, but I do believe they are held to a much higher, perhaps unfair, standard.

Here's what I find so confusing. The actual comic related sites have given it a passing grade...
I don't find this film being very polarising (even if more negatives than positives) to be surprising at all. Even after the reviews I expect a good chunk of people (hopefully including myself) to love it.

I'm pleased to hear that. Maybe for crowd who are familiar with comics or animations, it hits right buttons. Hopefully it will resonate well with GA too. :D
I think somebody in Reddit pointed out some weird complain from critics, like some characters are not realistic and Deadshot gave bad example in regards to firearms violence.
Maybe difference in view and stuff.

While I'm not really familiar with comics, I'm already pretty sure that I'll like it regardless of its editing. :p

We will just have to wait and see how the general audience reacts to this movie and how WOM is. The critics have had their say. Now it's the audience's turn. It really all comes down to that Cinemascore.

If this movie receives an A on cinemascore. Then yea maybe its just a fun time at the theaters. Silly, but fun.

One thing that this report does make me wonder is if WB should just hire some guy from Trailer Park to actually direct their films. Because most of their trailers get really positive reactions. And then the films come out and they get trashed. I'm tired of feeling like the trailer is always better than the movie.

Ha.

I'd be curious what there version would look like.

Is he... Is he actually being serious here? If so... whoa.

And yet everyone is focused on reviews written by people who don't really give a damn about the material.

Yea, people should just relax and watch the movie for themselves. Maybe their opinion will fall more in line with the 8.5 that SHH gives it then the review that trashes it.

I think he's hinting at if a movie has a clumsy narrative, terrible villain, but still fun it shouldn't receive brutal reviews.

For all we know this movie is DC's version of Thor 2: The Dark World. Shouldn't be destroyed that much.

Again just interpreting what he's trying to say.

LOL that's the same thing i'm getting out of this premiere right now. He's giant.

People are crazy about Will Smith. He doesn't have time to sign them all but he was smooth with his hand slide.

The one positive (???????) thing... Harley seems to be getting mostly positive reactions so that female spin-off movie could still happen. I think we can forget about a Suicide Squad sequel, unless WB cleans house and comes with a different approach.

Yes, absolutely. The critics immediately went home after that and rewrote their reviews because he insulted their Marvel Overlords. And then THR fabricated that article because Kevin Feige told them to.

:hehe:

Really? These people do know that the characters are villains right?

If nothing else, Margot's performance makes me want to see that "Harley Quinn and the other awesome DC female characters" movie that she's been pitching even more.

at times i wonder just how many actually realize that this is a movie about vile murderous people who are literary forced at bomb point to do some good.

she may get it because movies with female protagonists seam to be almost untouchable these days.

Donna Dickens is at it again.

Hey David Ayer, maybe don't compare #SuicideSquad reviews to a civil rights martyr? http://www.hitfix.com/harpy/david-a...s-by-comparing-his-plight-to-mexican-peasants …

Okay this is reaching. he's not comparing anything to civil rights, he's using a quote. A quote. We all do this on the internet. This is completely out of bounds. WE all konw Ayer isn't equating bad reviews to civil rights. That's bull **** and you know it.

How many times have you used a quote to describe how you feel at the moment. Doing so isn't disrespectful. You are seriously piling on with this article.
