The reason this movie is happening is because DC sees how "Guardians of the Galaxy" made so much money at the box office.


DC is hoping that "Suicide Squad" will do the same for them, like how "Guardians of the Galaxy" did for Marvel.

Suicide Squad has been in development since mid 2006, long before there an MCU.

Well the Ontario Media company which list's all the films/TV shows being filmed in the area has Bravo 14 aka Suicide Squad to start shooting March 15th. So definitely next week.
