At this point don't expect a press release until production officially starts.

"I remember saying 'There's no way in Hell I'd do a comic book movie'"

Really, gurl? Because the films you've chosen to take part in thus far have been so much better? :o

Yeah... I aint on the Jai hate train, but, seriously Jai? There have been a slew of CBMs that are actually LESS silly than anything in that Die Hard film he was in.

I'm willing to let this one slide on account of the association with Shia. At this point, I just have to assume he brings out the *****e in everyone.

Put that **** on a T-shirt: "Shia Brings Out The *****e In Everyone." :mnm:

For once an Aussie is going to be playing an Aussie in an American film.

Yes I side eyed Mr. Die Hard 5's comments as well but overall I liked how he came off in the interview.

We'll see if him using his natural accent or at least not covering his natural speaking voice up as much as doing an American accent helps his performance. He's never been bad to me on screen, but I can't say he's quite grabbed me either. Much like Dichen Lachman, whose performance is affected by NOT being able to use her natural accent.

Some actors performances just are affected by covering up their natural accent and it annoys me at times. It's like they are using up all of their acting powers to cover up that accent.

DDL and Streep do it so effortlessly that we assume ANY actor can do it sometimes. But it can really be something that can vex even the best actors, academy award winners even. Jon Voight's bad accent in ANACONDA is a perfect example. Seriously, when I do an impression of his bad Spanish accent I'm still doing a better accent than the one he used in the actual film. :yay:

Do you guys think that he signed up to appear in more films (namely in Ezra's Flash films) or that he only signed on to do this one because of Ayer's involvement?

Putting this a few places, just for general reference since some out there REALLY may not be familiar with the history of the Suicide Squad or it's members or what the team is all about actually. When some are out there calling Amanda Waller a straight up "Super Villain", well... it's apparent some fools need to be schooled...

I can't see them using Boomer in a Flash film, at least not if they imbue Flash with the kind of power we all EXPECT to see in a movie. Still... I guess anything is possible.

Well it's worked in the comics and Boomerang is considered to be one of Flash's primary foes (as far as I'm aware of). Maybe not on his own; he could team up with the Rogues in Ezra's film.

It'd seem like a waste not to see him taking on Ezra's Flash.

Well... Let's be honest. He spent a nice chunk of time on the Squad too, and as a character, that's really where he was defined and given any real distinctive qualities. I really think it depends on the execution of Flash's powers and their level and presentation. I mean, even with what they are doing on TV it can be frustrating to see them having to arbitrarily dumb down Barry for any given situation or Nerf his powers. I mean... Can the fans really respect a big screen Flash that gets hit by a guy throwing a boomerang? You see the problem? They could say that they HAD crossed paths and maybe after two attempts at taking out Flash Boomer just said, "Nope... this ain't happening" and went on to other crimes or was taken out by Flash AFTER a career in crime. There is a needle to be threaded I think.

Realistically speaking, if Boomerang did his homework on Flash, I think he would at least be able to catch an overconfident Barry off guard at least once before Barry could turn the fight around in a Flash.lol

But I don't think that boomerang could successfully even hope to compete against Barry and would require a combined effort with the Rogues, mixed with some great strategy, to give Barry a challenge.

I don't really care what his motivation for doing the movie is as long as he does a decent job in the role. And yes, he should use his natural accent. It'd be really dumb to get an Australian actor, to play and Australian character, and then NOT have him use his Australian accent. It'd be like in The Wolverine (which I really liked overall) where they got a Russian actress to play a character who's from Eastern Europe (Viper), but then had her try and do an American accent for some inexplicable reason. That sort of thing just usually comes across as being really awkward.

As for him appearing in future films, well Margot Robbie has said that she could end playing Harley Quinn for the next decade or so, and I'd be surprised if that DIDN'T include some Batman movies. And given that WB is trying to build a DCCCU, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Boomerang pops up in a Flash movie. Maybe not as the MAIN villain. But as a member of the Rogues, sure.

Im still confused how of all the actors on Spartacus, Courtney is the one that made the leap to film.

Run All Night also stars Ed Harris in a leading role, which means that we got to quiz him on whether there was any truth to the rumors that he could be playing Rick Flagg Sr. in Suicide Squad. “I don’t know anything about that,” Harris replied. After a moment he then followed that up with, “Joel mentioned that there was something he wanted me to look at, or think about doing, but I don’t know if that was it or not
