So we have the scene at the dinner where Waller is layout her plan for the Suicide Squad. THEN we have a scene in the situation room or whatever where we catch here essentially doing the EXACT SAME THING. Why not in the interest of story economy put both scenes together?

It's the same problem for BvS and Suicide Squad. Trying to introduce too many characters, each with massive histories, just in the span of 2hrs+. Comic geeks don't suffer as much because we automatically fill in the info in our heads. But the GA is inevitability going to suffer.

That's exactly right. I can't imagine what the GA felt watching BvS because I understood the unspoken story taking place. All I needed was to see the look in Afflecks eyes during the black zero event to see his motivations and understand what he's thinking and feeling. My poor mother watched this movie with my dad and texted me saying "why is batman so angry?!" :woot:

its just not as fun for me if the non comic fans can't get in on it to and enjoy it

Also I got insanely confused at this bit: we went from the prison, to Joker in a car giving the guard a bomb, to the Joker's gang shooting up some place, to Flagg and June suddenly in the subway, back to the prison, back to Flagg, back to Joker. Or something incredibly messy to that effect. What the hell was Joker shooting up? Was the guy he was supposed to say "I can't wait to show you my toys." to the prison guard?

I actually think she should've put the team together only after losing control of the situation and stating clearly, Batman and Wonder Woman are away. Instead of using the possibility of a "bad" Superman, say that they can do the job, will not cost a dime and are expendable anyway.

The wonders of the editing team at work. The bit with Flagg in the subway had no background or subtext. It seemed to me like they were putting together the Squad to go to wherever Flagg was, yet that wasn't the case? I was so confused as to why Waller was putting together the team with such urgency if the **** doesn't hit the fan until AFTER. Cart before the horse methinks?

Exactly my thought. The government should have said "no" to her plan, then everything should have gone to hell in a hand basket, THEN you assemble the team because the government feels they have no other choice. That's how you put this kind of movie together in a coherent way.

Joker was trying to get info on Harley in order to save her. The stuff with Flagg and Moon was going on at the same time. They show you how the situation is escalated and why Amanda Waller needs the SS.

As far as editing goes, there's also:
[BLACKOUT]1. How, the night the Suicide Squad is in Midway City, Flagg mentions that it's been 3 days since the incident with Enchantress escaping and her brother. Well that doesn't make sense if the Squad's being put together while the attack is happening, it only makes sense if they were put together and sent in days after it went down.

2. Not showing Enchantress ditch Flagg just to show it later was pointless, that should have just been shown when it happened. It wasn't a twist or something unexpected, it was just weirdly out of order like this should be a revelation.[/BLACKOUT]

I can understand that feeling. We needed another superman movie before BvS. We really just need WB to chillax. They seem like a nervous wreck

I totally agree. But the suits got impatient and wanted go from 0 to 60 in record time. I thought it was ridiculous to have Bats and Supes face off after one damn film.

DC did it. I don't know how they did it, but they did it. I didn't think it was doable, but goddamn they did it. They managed to make Batman V Superman look like a goddamn masterpiece by releasing Suicide Squad. What in the sweet hell are the exec's at DC thinking?
Warner Bros...

The actual "comics folks" at DC can't do much under their parent company.

Greed got in the way of common sense.

Definitely think was.better than BvS. I actually cared for the characters, unlike in BvS. The editing couldn't take that away from Ayer.

I think you were in the small minority on that.

Joker didn't belong in this film if you ask me.

He didn't. But you can't have a movie with Harley and missing the Joker. The cosplayers will absolutely shred the film apart :sly:

He doesn't. Cut him out and the story doesn't change at all. He's essentially a glorified cameo, and one that leaves no impression. Totally forgettable.

I think in hindsight a lot of fans would probably have agreed had they known what the result was going to be.

I don't think people would've objected if it was a World's Finest type of story. No doubt Batman and Superman wouldn't start out being friends, but maturity would reign and they'll quickly come to see that they should be on the same side, not necessarily requiring a fist fight at all.

Could cut out him, Katana, Croc, hell even Boomerang. The movie is filled with expendable characters who just feel there to fill in the cast a bit.

Batman approaching Deadshot with his child irked me. Batman wouldn't put an innocent in the middle of that situation. Really souring on this version of Batman.

To his benefit, he told Dead shot not to fight, that he didn't want to do it in front of his child, but Dead shot went ahead and threw the first punch anyway.

Agreed. World's Finest would have been so much better. IMO

I would agree there. The problem with the 'Vs' concept was there was never any real reason for those two to fight at this stage. I've said it before that BvS was a film where Bruce Wayne was playing a role that Lex Luthor should have been playing. But I won't derail into that discussion as this is SS. I do think SS would have been better served as a post solo Batman film story.
