I understand that part of it. Snyder and Ezra were filming together when they decided to put the scene in. It wouldn't make sense to fly Ayer to London to shoot a 10 second scene.

Ah, yeah that's a good point. But it's still kind of amusing. It's like, "Hmmm... Snyder just ruined the reputation of the DCEU before it even got off the ground. We're worried our next DCEU movie could receive a similar reaction. I know what will make it better! Let Snyder direct a scene!"

Yeah, but if he does what Trank did, it could be career suicide (no pun intended). Now, he has a lot more street cred than Trank, but it never looks good to publicly trash your film while it's out being marketed. And if he just avoided questions altogether, that would look just as bad.

I know, and that's why I'm conflicted. I know why he did it, but covering up the mistakes keeps the product from ever enjoying its full potential.

I get that.
But the man's gotta eat. He's gotta work.
Besides usually the cost of a movie isn't that much. IF he was selling me a damn car I'd be pissed.

Lol. Yeah its a cruddy situation all around. He has to play the game for now at least. Wow what a toxic atmosphere.

I hope they do release the original cut at some point. I don't know that it was ever a good movie, but it might have been a bit more coherent and I might actually get more of a sense of who Leto's Joker is.

BvS made a lot of money when it first opened, its how it performs after that initial opening.

Oh man, WB just can not keep it SIMPLE! I really hope Wonder Woman isn't screwed up because of this. It looks deliciously focused and intimate, with cool action... and I hope it really pulls through.

I think everyone, not just comic fans... but everyone is dying to see a cast of superhero/super villain women on the big screen. Batgirl, Huntress, Catwoman, Harley, Ivy, it's a god damn gold mine, and they really should have started with Mad Love. Harley would have been the Iron Man to their female bad-guy "avengers".

WB really do not understand what they have here. Done with care a Birds of Prey, or "Gotham City Sirens" would make a clean billion. Easily. Hell start with a Batgirl movie. That would be able to stand on it's own, especially with flashback appearances from J.K Simmons' Gordon, Batman and Robin, just more fleshed out this time. Her arc from Batgirl to Oracle. Easy money and easy Bird's of Prey setup.

It's far too early to tell, but I do hope that they at least go through with the Harley Quinn stand alone film. I figure WB will do their usual and push everything they can into it, so it will likely warp into something similar to what I said above. Buuuuuuut likely done wrong lol.

Totally. I'm looking forward to WW too but I am hoping WB doesn't mess it up. Even if a solo for Harley does get the green light, again, I don't want WB messing it up too.

There is so much potential if done really really right but...yeah I'll believe it when I see anything along those lines.

Despite the bad reviews they actually made more money than expected. That is surprising.
Wb had really really big hit in their hand and they messed up...

Thanks, this will help keep Margot, Leto and Will on board.

They could have done the exact same opening weekend with the original cut but with stronger legs. I hope they're slapping themselves in the face right now.

The more I wait to see this film, the more I am anxious...but excited...so its a mix bag of sorts. K...breathe...just breathe...

I'm going to go in with low expectations and just see it in support of the cast and the characters.

How much do you think they make if it was rated R?

Deadpool was still highly successful because of its critical praise.

"You're late, Katana."
Harley turned to Deadshot. "She named herself after her weapon?"
Deadshot tapped his own chest, then nodded toward Boomerang.
"Wasn't the first, won't be the last."

:funny:

A little less I think, but enough. Especially if they'd lowered the budget.

Hoping to finally get to see this time. Checking times. Pumped :woot:

LOL, I totally missed that. Good Lord, this ****ing movie...

Also, Snyder directed that Flash scene. It's amazing that WB saw so livid after BvS was received poorly and underperformed that they decided to meddle with Suicide Squad. Yet, despite that, WB also thought it would be a good idea to bring Snyder in an direct a scene in this film. I know it's one tiny scene but it's also kind of a WTF? thing to do.
Gotta push that interconnected universe and hype future movies. :o

But I think WB meddling already started with BvS. I knew Snyder must not make a 3-hours movie to begin with, but WB forced him to cut 30 minutes off for better earnings per day.
BvS UC isn't a perfect movie, it doesn't fix all things or story-wise. But its exposition, pacing and editing (things that BvS TC have been criticized with) is way better than what we got in theater. I felt cheated.
Three hours movie with great opening or gross isn't impossible, but WB is too greedy.

And I also suspect that email JL teaser isn't actually Snyder's idea because we heard that WB pushed that Flash-JL tease in SS reshoots. Maybe it stuffed in the movie because Snyder isn't fond of mid/post-credit scene.

Yup, juicy BTS stories or resentment can surface later.
Like what Ayer has done with Sabotage.
Pity, because Ayer and the cast emphasized that they were having really good times together.

So someone in the Harley Quinn thread posted a link to a source on Twitter that a solo for Harley Quinn is in the works and they're already writing it...

um...okay. lol. A little early at this point?

A reminder to everyone....this is the SUICIDE SQUAD discussion thread....if you want to discuss WONDER WOMAN go to her forum.

Okay, I hope you don't take this the wrong way. . . but every time you show up in Mod Mode, I can't help but get the mental image of a large, noisy, chaotic convention. . . and keeping the peace is a great big Clark Savage Jr, looking slightly older and occasionally crotchety. Yelling at the crowd to keep it in order, and occasionally dealing out a helping of fists and mercy bullets.

Margot Robbie wants to present ideas to the WB execs. Doesn't mean any of the writing will be translated to screen. They're just suggestions.

Still...it doesn't help when I feel very skeptical after reading what could potentially be either a rumor or legit...

Yeah, Harley on top of the car in the rain is a beautiful moment. It feels like it almost doesn't fit in with the rest of the film it's so well done. That's the kind of potential this movie had.

The "...you're my friend too" scene is also brilliantly acted. It's a shame we couldn't see more of Robbie interacting with Leto. We get so very little. They are so passionate for each other but it's just not earned within the film.
I thought the conversation between her and Deadshot in the staircase where a bit of Harleen Quinzel comes through was also really well acted between Will and Margot. It's a shame this film basically removes all nuance from Margot's performance.

i thought initial tracking was 125-130 mil, so they hit that. the 145-150 mil was after friday numbers.

Im very glad it opened big but man, if WB had stuck this landing, this couldve potentially been a HUGE franchise hit for them. If this got good reviews and WoM I couldve seen this thing grossing 850mill+ easily.

I still have to wait until Tuesday. My patience was wearing out and I saw a little leaked clip between [BLACKOUT]Joker and Harley at ACE chemicals[/BLACKOUT]. Hauntingly beautiful. I could watch it on repeat forever.

Oh man, I hope I don't get my expectations up.
