Alright just got back from my show, review time
There is way too much good in this to not rate it highly. Everyone is on point, every actor and actress is pulling their weight. Specifically Margot Robbie who has officially come out of the gate as the gold standard as Harley Quinn for all future actresses. Jared Leto has some VERY big shoes to fill as the Joker, however. I will say that while he's definitely one of the weaker parts of the film he still has so much potential. In Harelys words he's gotta OWN THAT ****!
He needs to work on his voice and facial expressions. When it's Afflecks time to work with him, he needs to take him back to the drawing board and tweak his makeup, his wardrobe and give us what we want. Do these things and he could be the next great Joker.
Other then that the "final boss fight" was ultimately poor in visual conception but the 9 year old in me LOVED IT.
I'll be honest I had my doubts about this shared universe working and clicking together but after this, I'm on board for whatever is next. This movie gives me a clarity as to what WB wants and I feel a little more at ease. I just hope they can change the critics minds. Needles to say, Afflecks solo could be the crowning achievement of ALL of this mud slinging.
With some tweaks to make the flow work and Joker work it could have easily been one of the best comic book movies I've seen, what I'm ultimately left with is an incredibly fun movie firing on all cylinders that I'll be excited to go back to time and time again. I give it a VERY HIGH...
8/10
-half point off for Joker not owning the role
-half point off for overall flow of the story
-one point off for the one dimensional antagonist
