good lord how dense can you get you realize not everyone is gonna share your opinion you can acknowledge flaws in a movie and still have fun with the positives parts of it,its called the good outweighing the bad no one is sticking their head in the sand and acting like these flaws dont exist and aren't there just at the end of the day the positives outweigh the negatives

Oh my god, the contrary ******** of some people. I said to enjoy DC movies, you have to ignore the glaring issues. You're saying exactly the same thing using different words.

No not be damned, I'm saying for me those do matter. But when it comes to a lot of cbm I don't always need a strong villain. Do I love when we get an awesome memorable strong villain? Of course. But for myself personally I don't need that every single time. Works just fine on my end sometimes to have a villain who is basically there just to be the antagonist. I know how that sounds but hey, my opinion.

And of course story matters. And I've heard that as a complaint of this film the story is weak. I'll see for myself, I can see flaws and still enjoy things a lot you know. Is the story for BvS amazing? No, but it's more fleshed out in the UE and much better there than it was in the theatrical. And I can enjoy and appreciate that.

What's the problem?

Nothing.

And I am the same way for some CBM. I agree about the BvS UC...I prefer that version over the TC.

Seeing SS at the 4:00 showing EST...

:smgs:

There are not a lot of comic book films out there where I come out of the show and say "Damn, that was a brilliant story". I honestly don't remember saying that ever since The Dark Knight. The story for a lot of the CBM are just okay.

 Yeah I don't think I'll ever watch the theatrical cut again myself. I'll stick with the UE. I think I'm seeing SS in another hour.

Exactly, most cbm stories are pretty simple/straight forward.

Saw it for a 2nd time. Still liked it (a 7/10), but god, I could just feel that they edited the ***** out of this movie now that I knew where and what scenes to expect. I really want more of the Joker and judging by the deleted scenes description, I have no idea why they removed such a large portion of his scenes. When you have to be more excited for the film novelization than the film itself, there is a problem.

I will be really pissed if WB doesn't release an Extended Cut on Blu-Ray. It's just the most logical step. If they do this, it will really fix the pacing and some of the editing issues. Though, it really will be a shame if they continue that "ultimate edition" trend and disfigure the theatrical versions of their films.

I still disagree that the editing and villain problems of this movie should bring it down to 26% at RT, though. I had a fun time at the cinema and have to give credit to DC for trying to do something different.

Seeing it for a 3rd time on Tuesday :)

Generally I think that if you enjoyed BvS, you're going to enjoy SS. Some will inevitably disagree, but they suffer from similar issues and if BvS wasn't ruined for you by said issues then you're in for a good time.

Interesting. BvS is one of my favorite movies. I was embarrassed watching SS.

The more I think about this film, the more it pisses me off. The original cut of this flick was probably solid. WB needs to grow some ****ing balls.

WB obviously got scared with the reception of BvS because of the fanboys that brought out their pitchforks
Then you had the positive response to the trailers and they basically had the same company edit this movie to make it more like that.

Of course you can see elements of the original still in play here but they definitely changed and reduced a lot of characters roles and scenes.
Did we find out what slipknot could do? No he's dead

Joker is removed from the final battle to make his fate uncertain after helicopter crash
Harley's origin scenes are shorter
They put the flash in this movie

They just wanted to dot their i's and cross their t's that the paper eventually ripped which is where the story suffered.

The movie had such great chemistry between all the actors that this becomes less of an issue for some people than others.

The real quesion is why have the trailer portray this film as a fun Guardians of the Galaxy-esque romp in the first place? They knew what kind of movie Ayer was filming. Hell, even the comic-con trailer showed how the tone was meant to be. So why the heck would you false advertise by making the movie seem like something completely different with a lighter, more fun trailer?

Because they came on here and read how BvS was a failure because it was too dark... And not because it was a train wreck of awful storytelling and poor characterisation, which is the truth :)

One of BVS's and MOS's biggest criticisms was "no fun" that they where both way to dark and way to serious.

In hindsight if the movie continued being marketed as dark and serious like the first trailer the opening weekend may not have been as good. But a better story/editing would have gained SS better reviews, and probably better legs

"You're late, Katana."
Harley turned to Deadshot. "She named herself after her weapon?"
Deadshot tapped his own chest, then nodded toward Boomerang.
"Wasn't the first, won't be the last."

:funny:

They should just release an audiobook of the movie in theaters.

if it's produced like the force awakens one, with distinctive voices and background effects - i may never re-watch SS.

by the way, I'm doing something i haven't done in ages. i'm watching SS in a cinema tomorrow again.

They heavily used the Joker and plenty of the deleted scenes for their trailers, with the original cut, they would have make as much money for the opening.

Well scratch that. Got to the theater and the parking lot is packed no spots, and the line was starting to come out the door. I'll see it later this week or next weekend probably.

Alright just got back from my show, review time

There is way too much good in this to not rate it highly. Everyone is on point, every actor and actress is pulling their weight. Specifically Margot Robbie who has officially come out of the gate as the gold standard as Harley Quinn for all future actresses. Jared Leto has some VERY big shoes to fill as the Joker, however. I will say that while he's definitely one of the weaker parts of the film he still has so much potential. In Harelys words he's gotta OWN THAT ****!
He needs to work on his voice and facial expressions. When it's Afflecks time to work with him, he needs to take him back to the drawing board and tweak his makeup, his wardrobe and give us what we want. Do these things and he could be the next great Joker.
Other then that the "final boss fight" was ultimately poor in conception, but the 9 year old in me LOVED IT.
I'll be honest I had my doubts about this shared universe working and clicking together but after this, I'm on board for whatever is next. This movie gives me a clarity as to what WB wants and I feel a little more at ease. I just hope they can change the critics minds. Needles to say, Afflecks solo could be the crowning achievement of ALL of this mud slinging.

With some tweaks to make the flow work and Joker work it could have easily been one of the best comic book movies I've seen, what I'm ultimately left with is an incredibly fun movie firing on all cylinders that I'll be excited to go back to time and time again. I give it a VERY HIGH...

8/10

-half point off for Joker not owning the role
-half point off for overall flow of the story
-one point off for the one dimensional antagonist

I kinda left wanting to see a solo Deadshot film.

I have no interest in a solo HQ film.

Deadshot solo directed by John Wick Director with cameo by Deathstroke played by Keanu.

Ha.

YES! And I'm glad you enjoyed the movie!

Joker was removed from the final battle? Is that the scene were we see him with half his face burned and he's about to toss a grenade from the trailer?
