Btw in the same interview,Ayer talks about how world ending threats have become too routine and they want to avoid that, but they did exactly that?Maybe thats what they changed with the reshoots after taking input from the audience? :/

it clearly did not help that "X-Men: Apocalypse" had the same plot two weeks earlier. lol

So I was finally able to watch this movie......
.............................................................
Comic book movie 2.0... **** Marvel... This is for the fans... Used condoms... WHAT. A. DUMPSTER. WILDFIRE.

I'm feeling ill after watching it. I'm trying to gather my thoughts. I'm in a meltdown mode. You had an absolute winner on your hands. It had a fresh concept for CBM genre. The movie didn't require to setup anything. It didn't have to compete or prove anything. It didn't have to live up to expectations... Pathetic. No imagination, no character development, no action and that villain... I don't even want to say anything good about the movie, it had some good stuff too, because I'm so frustrated and angry. The experience wasn't as painful as, say, Catwoman. Still, it's a trash. I don't regret spending money on it only for two reasons - cast (minus Leto) and I still believe DCEU deserves other chances to get it right.

Ayer, you should be kissing Marvel's feet, because they're so far beyond your level. Stay off freaking CBM sets, you *****.

3/10.
Wow... and to think you were so excited for this. It's actually kind of sad to hear how much you hated it.
I still haven't watched it and honestly I really can't say that I want to anymore. I'll probably end up renting it later down the line out of curiosity, though.

Honestly, that really should have been the pitch from the getgo. "So, we do jobs for you, and then we can go free?" "Hell no, you've all well earned your multiple life sentences. But if you do the jobs well and survive, you can have a better life in here than you ever had outside, anyway." I mean, gilded cage is still a cage. . . but enough gold and it starts looking appealing.

I think in the Ostrander series after completing a mission the Squad member had their explosive bracelet taken off and the got to go about Belle Reve as they pleased.

Boomerang got himself a place in New Orleans to stay in between missions. But he had to promise not to steal anything, so he wore the then-dead Mirror Master's suit to steal things.

Sorry to hear you disliked it, OutofBoose. The movie is a mess, for sure. We're all pretty unanimous on that. I think for a few of us though the fun characters were able to override the glaring issues with the film. Yet, on a pure technical level, the movie is botched and it really is a shame.

As for the world ending threat hypocrisy from Ayer, I'm just going out on a limb here, but I think Ayer's original concept was always for the Squad to go against a supernatural threat, but not have it necessarily be a world ending one. I think that was most likely a mandate from the studio.

100 % agree with your opinion! I was in the same state of mind after watching this horrible dumb **** movie yesterday! Everyone involved should just hide deeply in a hole and hide the hole!
Agree.
But don't worry, it will only take you 25 minutes to forget that you ever saw this movie. There is nothing in it that will stay in your mind. The experience of this movie is so empty and deflating that it will just vanish from your memory in a couple of minutes.
I'm trying to figure out what I need more right now: therapy session with fellow fans or just to shrug it off and move on...
Maybe enjoy your anger and nausea these are the only emotions this movie is able to produce successfully!
Or that...
I always wonder how a movie director can actually forget to have a script when he/or she starts shooting a movie. "Oh no, I came unprepared, what am I going to do?" ;)
......... :cmad:

It really is a shame...

Anyway. I'm just going to stop myself right there and move on until we get some news on a extended edition. No matter how much this movie really hurts, it deserves one.

You won't lose anything, I suppose. Even though I saw a number of people saying something like "amazing film, keep it up WB". I said it here, that I will love this movie no matter what. I felt really confident after BTS, after trailers. The cast is amazing. It's Harley origin story (which I dreamed to see in live action for many years), it looks awesome and it's a movie about villains doing a little bit of community service. It was a perfect mix. They ****ed it all. Sigh... Live and learn.

In the end it made me appreciate what Marvel is doing even more. And I always respected them, even though majority of their films didn't satisfy me.

OutOfBoose, you didn't like the movie? Have to admit I am really surprised considering how excited you were for it, and what a staunch supporter you've been of the DCEU so far.

Sorry to hear you were let down.

I wasnt a huge fan of SS as I was of BvS/MOS either. It was merely okayish for me.Trust me,most of us dont blindly support DCEU no matter what.We dont like everything. There are many of us who liked MoS and BvS but didnt like SS.Not aimed at you in particular, just saying.

Exactly. Same here. Mos and BvS are movies I want to watch again and again, with SS, i liked it...but not sure I want to buy the blu ray. I dont feel compelled to watch it again UNLESS they release an extended version.

MoS 7.8
BvS UC 7.5
SS 6.8

That said I still liked Suicide Squad. I went in with lowered expectations I guess and it all worked for me. I would have enjoyed it more if it were less apparent that there was a less watered down cut out there.

As soon as the theatrical run is done WB has to jump on announcing a Joker cut.

There was PLENTY of enough juice from the great cast and performances from them to carry the film as an overall enjoyable experience for me. There were some questionable decisions as far as structure and creative control were concerned, especially the botched pacing of the mission itself, but for me, it wasn't nearly about that. The first live action Harley Quinn and Robbie's performance was just too good not to enjoy. I found myself smiling from ear to ear on many occasions, Smith's Deadshot and Leto's Joker included (a bonus is that Batfleck is just pure AWESOME.)

I wanted to see certain things and I got that from the movie. It's not a knock out of the park, clearly, but it slides into homeplate, as bumpy as it may be, just inches away from being out. SSQUAD managed to avoid the touch and slide across the plate. That's all I was looking for. The thought of these characters interacting with not only one another again, but the DC hero's has me salivating. I saw it twice and my initial score didn't change. 7/10 for SSQUAD. There's ton of potential there and I want to see it really...really...bad.

I am more and more convinced the man was and is higher than kite during the making and promoting of this movie. It's one thing to defend your film but the stuff that comes out of his mouth is as if he is speaking of whole different movie

Yeah I don't really wanna rewatch it either. I love Harley and I love Leto and I did like what he did here in the role (but I'm a shallow fangirl, lol) but really...the frustration overtook the laughs and it wasn't boring at least feeling during 1st screeninh

One day I really hope we find out everything that went on behind the scenes there. Because the final film looks nothing like what the people who made it sold it as, nor does it reflect Ayer's sensibilities as a director.

It's pretty well documented. WB mainly panicked about the response to BvS being so dark, gloomy and humorless, so they obviously intervened on Ayer's set to demand more fun and pressure Ayer to edit a cut that pleased an audience within' a short period of time. From the response to BvS's Ultimate Cut and now the SSQUAD cuts from the movie that would have made it geared towards Ayer's original version, the Powers That Be should be listening.

MOS is by far my favorite DCEU film thus far. which I never thought I would say...I bought BVS and I have only watched it once and that was to see the new footage. Still didn't really change my perception of the movie at all, but I will say this... Snyder can get some awesome looking shots in his movie. I do love the intro to BVS though.

MoS is still a better crafted movie technically because the story is relatively straight forward making it easier to edit the film. But BvS has Batman in it, not just any Batman, but a Batman who kicks ass. He has my vote. ;)

I like Man of Steel more and more every time I watch it and I loved the film as a whole when it released. Man of Steel is certainly more clear of a plot to follow, especially when it came to General Zod's intention as a villain and how straight forward it was from the very beginning. Zod was established and fleshed out immediately. It was way more consistent from a story standpoint than BvS when it came to the mystery motivations for Lex but in a way, I really liked that about BvS as well but MoS definitely had a much clearer premise without juggling too many character motivations.

"Didn't like" is to put it mildly.

Wow. Genuinely surprised. I thought you'd love it.

Funny because out of the DCEU's offerings, I think its the least worst. I mean I don't think any of them are good as you know, but SS at least had some entertainment value thanks to Harley, Waller, and Deadshot. MOS and BvS doesn't have any good characters like that in my book.

After years of seeing so many fans go so far to defend the worst flaws of movies, you wonder how many good fans are left. #Martha #1%chance #totalidiot

:cwink:

Seriously I know not everyone is like that. These forums would be unbearable if they were.

I feel like some DCEU fans are acting like contrarians with SS

Yeah I would definitely rate Man of Steel higher than Dawn Justice Ultimate edition because it has a clear focus on one lead character and has a villain I partly empathize with. I just have more fun with BvS because BatGod and let's face it, it had better character performances. Affleck, any scene he is in, he freaking steals it. Take out his "murdering" tendency scenes and he's more Batman like than any live action Batman we have seen thus far.

But Suicide Squad is my brother's favorite DCEU movie and he is a Superman fan. Supes isn't even in it. He just had more fun with SS than MoS and BvS.

As much as I loved Man of Steel, I still give the nod to BvS when it came to my first viewing. Walking out of the theater, I genuinely liked BvS on the first viewing and it was a relief. Man of Steel I made the mistake of simply knowing too much and that tampered with my experience. I stayed away from BvS after the second trailer so I was more surprised in some of the direction the movie headed towards and it paid off for me personally.

For SSQUAD, I have no clinging attachment to any character involved like I do Supes. I realized SSQUAD is a movie apart of a connected universe so I walked in hoping to see what I wanted to see, had fun and left satisfied in the face of yet, more negative feedback. I try not to go overboard with any obnoxious form of fanboy hyperbole so if I can have a good enough time to warrant a second viewing, it's good in my book.
