I'm very, VERY happy about this, especially since I thought they were not going to do this. 13 minutes is completely fine to me. That increases the runtime to 2h 23 min, which is a good long length for a movie like this.

My expectations are tempered though, this will not be a restructured movie, Heck, I doubt Ayer was even INVOLVED in this new edit. This was probably done by the studio. All I want, honestly, is more Harley/ Joker back story, more scenes with Flagg and June to make their love story make sense, and if there's more to the Batman car chase then I'm down for that too. This will simply be an extended version of the film we got in theaters but, extra footage could DEFINITELY improve the film potentially.

so we get to see Harley on the motorcycle and her shooting the truck driver? And then point the gun at Joker only to get smacked around a bit?

Wait for it: coming to home release Fall 2017- Wonder Woman: The Wonderful Edition.
Wait till they sell season pass for their extended edition. :sly:

More seriously, looking forward to it but I wished for more than 13 minutes.

I wouldn't count on her being smacked by the Joker to be in it, if they don't restore the abusive relationship they're in, by chaning around the helicopter scene again, and more...

Hope that's not the case. Their relationship needs to be shown for what it truly is. Only way to do that is to add in the scene(s) of him smacking her around.

According to ChrisB the extended cut is unrated, so no opportunity to whine about DC going the R rated route again.

If the rest of the movie stays the same him smacking her once in a flashback scene doesn't really add that much to the relationship. The Joker would still throw Harley out of the Helicopter as an act of love.

My enthusiasm went WAY up when I read about an announcement for an extended version, but then I thought about it a little bit and I don't think this Extended version is what I was hoping for.

Just the theatrical cut with some extra bits thrown in.

:hmr: Just further reaffirms my belief that all of the abusive scenes will be re-inserted.

And as strange as it sounds, that makes me happy.

The fact that it's unrated doesn't mean anything in itself, but it could be that the MPAA isn't a fan of male-on-female abuse so WB didn't bother checking with them.

Not if they go with the original cut of said scene where him throwing her out of the 'copter was not, in fact, a labor of love.

Or if they edit the club scene to be the way it originally was. Or if they extend the overall backstory of the two by giving us the scenes as they were originally.

All too true. I'm just airing on a more optimistic side for the time being.

Which is, of couse, what I'm hoping for. This, plus of course June Moon's story and her relationship with Rick Flag being fleshed out, as originally planned.

But I don't know. It may be the title 'Extended cut,' it may be that there will only be 13 minutes of new footage, it may be that I still see that 'flashing effect' in one of the tiny clips in the teaser, but I think it's going to be more of the same, with a couple of additional and/or longer scenes, instead of a 're-cut' (if you know what I mean) of the movie.

The Ultimate cut of Batman V Superman is a much better movie, as it fleshes out the story. I don't think that's the case here.

Sorry to be such a downer on this.

They had no reason to release the Extended Cut, but they are doing it, maybe to to keep Leto quiet ?

I am fine with additional 13 minutes, the movie's biggest problem is the main villain, Enchantress and her brother. Still, it's fairly entertaining movie, so I'm happy with what they are releasing.

I just want more Joker scenes.

Batman V Superman Ultimate Cut was planned before the movie's release, they even sent it for rating. So, it was always going to present more "coherent" movie.

This is the same movie with few "extended scenes".

Which is what I'm saying, and why I'm not that optimistic about this being Ayer's intended cut, before Warner Bros hired Trailer Park to put the movie together.

Wow this is exciting. On one hand I want the original Ayer cut with a darker tone, no dossier, straight up CC-trailer type movie with loads of Joker stuff including the grenade scene. But I dont think that will happen. This is probably going to be the added scenes version. We will still probably have the dossier style opening and still have no grenade scene.

How funny/sad would it be if Leto doesnt feature much in this cut either? He will probably commit suicide.

well there goes any chance of me forking over 15 bucks to watch a DCEU movie in theaters when the true version of the film will be released on home video a few months later.

what a farce

Don't say that...we don't know which one of those 6 or 7 cuts we are getting:o

Got the joke, but I don't think so. He was just pissed. And rightfully so. David Ayer should've been pissed, too.

I still liked Suicide Squad, but so much of the movie felt like we just got a glimpse of what it actually should've been.

I have a clear opinion about movies. And that is: Director is king. The studio s**t all over that on this movie because of the moaning about Batman V Superman.

I think the extended cut is ayers cut. Im happy this is happening :) but just dont expect this to be a quick band-aid for those who did not like this film.

I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Ayer's cut was originally way different. Opening with June Moon finding the Enchantress, and telling that story in a linear way. No dossier. The flashbacks would've been spread out throughout the movie, with the characters themselves remembering their past (similar to how Harley remembers her chemical bath). A different relationship between the Joker and Harley. Darker tone and humor. A different showdown, including the Joker, and Katana being possessed by the Enchantress. And it's also rumored that El Diablo was originally supposed to survive.
