Is there any chance that 13 minutes doesn't include cut stuff that will be substituted with something less awful? I'm referring to Enchantress fight scene and Diablo transforming into whatever that was

It is starting to look more and more like a scam instead of cinematic universe.
They can't even own up to their mistakes. They keep trying to make up for the awfulness they put out in theaters by releasing extended cuts which basically is just a way for them to keep DCEU apologists in line and up and running by giving them more material to argue about. And further milk that franchise of course.

It doesn't say that the movie is 13 minutes longer, but that there's 13 minutes of new footage. So I doubt that there are going to be many changes to the previous cut.

As I've said:

Ayer's cut was originally way different. Opening with June Moon finding the Enchantress, and telling that story in a linear way. No dossier. The flashbacks would've been spread out throughout the movie, with the characters themselves remembering their past (similar to how Harley remembers her chemical bath). A different relationship between the Joker and Harley. Darker tone and humor. A different showdown, including the Joker, and Katana being possessed by the Enchantress. And it's also rumored that El Diablo was originally supposed to survive.

And I don't think we're getting any of that. Just the theatrical cut with a few new scenes and extended parts.

Not really, with the Batman V Superman UE they delivered what was Zack Snyder's original version of the movie. Without charging anything extra. The movie would've been released on home video anyway. So I don't see where the scam is.

Pretty much the same can be said here. They're not charging you extra for the extended version. They're not double dipping the movie. The problem is that the messed with David Ayer's original vision of the movie because they got cold feet.

There's no deceiving here. So, no scam. Just a very unfortunate case of heavy studio intervention on a movie.

Got the joke, but I don't think so. He was just pissed. And rightfully so. David Ayer should've been pissed, too.

I still liked Suicide Squad, but so much of the movie felt like we just got a glimpse of what it actually should've been.

I have a clear opinion about movies. And that is: Director is king. The studio s**t all over that on this movie because of the moaning about Batman V Superman.

Completely agreed on everyword.

Right now my only expectations are :

1. More character scenes.
2. More Joker.

If these two I get, Im satisfied. I liked SS. I wasnt gonna watch it again. Now I will because of the Extended cut. If we get anymore stuff(darker tone, reshuffled scenes etc) that would be brilliant. But I am not counting on that, and keeping my expectations in check.

When I go watch a movie in theaters, wether I end up liking it or not, what I expect to see is either the director's vision or the studio's vision if the director doesn't have the final cut. I expect the studio to own up to what they decided to show instead of them releasing an "apology cut" 4 months later because they expect it to drive HV sales up.

They had no reason to release the Extended Cut, but they are doing it, maybe to to keep Leto quiet ?

I am fine with additional 13 minutes, the movie's biggest problem is the main villain, Enchantress and her brother. Still, it's fairly entertaining movie, so I'm happy with what they are releasing.

I just want more Joker scenes.

My sentiments exactly. At this point I can't get what I really would've wanted (Joker to be the villain instead of forgettable Enchantress & her brother) but I'll happily take more Joker scenes.

:whatever:

If that were the case, we would've never gotten the Blade Runner Director's Cut.

Or The Abyss Special Edition.

Or the True Romance Director's cut.

Or, the Batman V Superman Ultimate Edition.

But fortunately, those cuts weren't left to rot in some dusty archives, and instead saw the light of the day. For us to enjoy.

So, I get that bashing Warner Bros and DC is the 'cool' thing to do right now, but I don't really see the point of your complaints.

Except, Marvel also gave in to fan demands and retconned Mandarin in Marvel One-Shots ("All hail the King")

That was kind of apology to fans for "Mandarin Twist".

Which was sad. They should've stuck with Shane Black's version of the character (I'm a huge fan of Iron Man 3).

While I do have complaints in the way WB handles certain aspects, I do agree that it's completely nonsensical to complain about getting an alternative cut for the DVD...especially when said cut can enhance a movie so much.

I dont understand when people complain about getting more on the home video release. Home video sales in general are dipping every year because people would rather go digital or pirate or just dont care to own the movie, even if they enjoyed it. Its nice to get this extra incentive and something to look forward to when I buy the blu ray.

Heck, I myself was on the fence about buying it if there wasnt going to be anything extra on it. Now I will definitely be buying it.

:funny: It won't make the movie any better...the script doesn't even justify its premise.

There's no reason any of the events in the movie needed to take place. So whatever.

I think it's pretty reasonable to expect a studio to stand behind the cut they put out in theaters. Nothing is wrong with extended cuts, but this is the second time in a row that a DC release has been botched in the editing room, and the second time in a row that the home release has attempted to make up for that.

That's not the same thing.

Zack Snyder's directors cut of Batman V Superman already existed and was rated by the MPAA before the movie's release and reception. And I'm glad that the UE saw the light of the day.

Suicide Squad is a much more complicated case. The studio should've left the movie alone instead of getting cold feet because of the response to Snyder's movie.

The theatrical cut is a pastiche f different versions of the movie, including one put together by Trailer Park. It would've been awesome to see Ayer's original cut on home video, but hey... The world ain't perfect. So let's see what this Extended Cut is all about.

That's not the same thing.

Yeah, the Mandarin apology is more similar to Warner Bros re-editing Suicide Squad, so they won't get compaints for the movie being too dark. It's still a studio catering to the people whining, which I think is sad.

Wow this is exciting. On one hand I want the original Ayer cut with a darker tone, no dossier, straight up CC-trailer type movie with loads of Joker stuff including the grenade scene. But I dont think that will happen. This is probably going to be the added scenes version. We will still probably have the dossier style opening and still have no grenade scene.

How funny/sad would it be if Leto doesnt feature much in this cut either? He will probably commit suicide.
He probably will only get a few more min ;( He's filming The Outsider right now in Tokyo which sounds like it's gonna be badass. I read part of the script and had to stop because I want to see it fresh

At this point those who hated the movie have already made up their mind not to buy it, I doubt that "Extended Cut" will convince them to buy the Bluray.

The EC is for fans who liked some thing in this movie and want to see more. The story will be the same, so this is not going to look "alternate version" of the movie. It's just some scenes having more added footage.

I've made my peace with a lot of people on here but I just can't with you. This whole let's laugh like they're pathetic thing is just ridiculous. End of the day you can hate the film but WBs have had the last laugh cause they've made a **** ton of money.

JKR, I was talking about the theatrical cut. The movies problems stem from a script PoV rather than an editing one. Remember, Ayer had six weeks to write the script. Btw, Props to David Ayer, who said the thing we saw in theathers was his cut.:oldrazz: It's the DC Extended Universe indeed.

I enjoyed the hell out of this film. I can't wait to own it.

Me too, it was the most fun I've had at the cinema this year for sure and I had a few problems with the film. That says a lot about it to me.

Very insightful response, it's actually hilarious that the haters have chosen the extended edition announcement to jump on the film. After all you all abandoned the Box Office thread when it was clear it was doing gang busters at the Box Office.
