I don't expect them to just remove a majority of the songs.

Depends on what this cut actually is. Thus far if looks like it could be Ayers original cut that was screened back in spring. If thats the case, it may not have a lot of those on there. . Particularly all the ones that were in the Waller dinner exposition scene, if it actually does have the original scene in place and is Restructured.

If the Waller dinner scene has been replaced, you're right. Those songs didn't even bother me, though. It's mainly the way they handled the Ace Chemicals scene.

Noticed a really bad edit in the Batman/Deadshot fight.

After Batman says "Its over Deadshot" They cut to the end of the fight scene for a half a sec. Its when Deadshot no longer has his hat on.

Then it cuts back to him having his hat on. He gets knocked down and then they show the full Deadshot pulling out a weapon scene.

I guess maybe test screenings wanted to make it clear that Deadshot pulled a weapon on Batman before he got punched.

Oh boy.

The more I think about it.

They would have been better served just making a 2hr 45 min or 3hr Suicide Squad Extended version.

Added 11 minutes does nothing for me.

There's just way too much obvious stuff cut out from it.

In fact I'm convinced this would have been a great Netflix series.

I feel like there's a great performance in Suicide Squad its just not handled very well. Not a clear vision from Ayer and too much meddling from the studio.

I think there's a very good movie in there. Just not handled as well it should have been.

While I do agree that I'm a bit disappointed there isn't more footage, I'll be happier with an 11 minute extended cut if its restructured than I would with a 30 minute extended cut that was the exact same movie with extra footage. My biggest issue with the movie was A) the sloppy all-over-the-place first act and B) cutting so much of the Harley origin/Joker abuse- so if this fixes those things for me, I'll be extremely happy. Oh and hoping theres a least a little more of June/Rick's relationship fleshed out.

Ya know, I don't necessarily mind the Ace Chemicals scene song, I think it fits. However I think it was a big mistake to cut that awesome Harley/Joker theme

I don't know...I'm not a fan of overly long films. Sitting through movies that are over two and a half hours starts to become more like an exercise than enjoying entertainment.

In this case, I'll take the 11 minutes.

The way the music was used in general was so disappointing. It was basically a greatest hits collection, and none of the songs wound up being used correctly or had a point. The fact that some of the actual background score, including an actual very good theme was cut is especially disappointing, although it's good that we can listen to it anyway.

Guys, I think we need to keep perspective here. There is a reason they're calling it an "Extended" cut. Not "Director's" or'Alternate" or "ultimate." We're not getting an alternate version of the film, we're getting more scenes. That doesn't mean that the extra scenes cannot make the film better, I'm certain they will, but this will not be a restructured film.

I was agreeing with this until this latest trailer. The fact they show the old Waller steakhouse scene shows it pretty much has to be restructured a little bit. Maybe not the totally different version some are expecting (there are 7 after all), but the character intros definitely have to be moved around a bit because they can't splice the old Waller dinner scene with the new one. Unless of course, they are using footage in the trailer that isn't in the cut...

But it would also explain the "13 minutes of new footage" when there is only 11 additional minutes in the runtime

It's sad that that's a possibility. I mean, could you imagine if they used CUT footage in these trailers for the EC???? That would be ****ed up.

Replacing the songs with Price's score would be a good start to make it slightly better. Especially during the chemical wedding.

If they keep all the same songs in this cut then I'm hoping that there are enough audio channels on the blu ray to be able to extract the music from the film so I can do a fan cut.

Man....that whole "fight" was awful, Batman moved so slow, it didn't feel like the same Batman. Felt like we were back in Bale's or something.

It's just, there are so many missed opportunities with this movie that we won't ever get back. Out first scenes with our favorite characters were cut down to 30 seconds with rap music over them.

That's it, it's my main gripe with the movie. The whole thing was a missed opportunity. I mean there are plenty of other movies that I like a lot less but I don't give a f**k about 'em to really be angry. Skwad had so much potential but WB totally resorted to the safe, cookie cutter formula. It was fun and entertaining but unmemorable in the end.

The Bats-Deadshot, Bats-Joker-Harley scenes were so badly edited and executed, I don't know how the EC can get all that right. I'll still hope for the best.

I don't want to blame it all on the studio. I mean, Ayer did write and direct this thing. I really don't know if he was the right guy for this project. The man isn't fit for these multi movie universe movies imo. He doesn't truly understand.
This movie felt worlds away from MoS and BvS. He chucked out all the realism and grounded-ness that Snyder built his universe on.

The fact that the editing and continuity in this movie is lazy as hell. I mean, he really couldn't have gotten Ben to do that close up shot of Batman opening the batmobile doors in the Joker chase? and his head canon on how Harley gave Joker the damage tattoo even though he had it when they first met. Now before you all say, "it's just his head canon, it doesn't mean anything to the actual story!" just stop and realize that the director and writer of this movie thought about that and came up with that conclusion without even realizing the continuity errors that we all saw within seconds of reading his comments.

Sadly you're right. I'll give credit where it's due, Ayer did get the characters and their interactions right to make it enjoyable but that's about the only good thing I can say about Skwad. The cast elevated the movie a great deal but it wasn't enough make it a standout among other very good CBMs.

Yeah for sure, his boot camp thing that he did with the actors in pre production really did wonders for their chemistry on screen.

Planning another "Fan Cut", eh ? :woot:

Man, I remember many tweets of people saying how Ayer did Batman justice, unlike Snyder. And many posts on here after that suggesting he should do JL. smh
I do think Ayer was the right person for this movie, though. I really think there's a gem under there if you remove the trailer style editing, the non-stop playing of songs in the background etc.

Hmm I don't see it at all

shaky weird color bit in final film:

Thanks for this. You give me hope that this actually might be the good cut.

I think the cinematography failed them in a few areas as well. A lot of scenes just felt small. Too close up to the characters faces, obvious reshot scenes, etc. etc.

Even though they had this huge budget. It seemed like

- Lets shoot a scene in this small office. Make it seem like the White House.
- Lets shoot this Batman/Deadshot fight up close instead of a cool brawl in the alley.
- Lets make the 3rd act fight be in one little spot with not a lot of movement needed.
- Lets edit the Batman car chase scene and make it seem less interesting.

I agree with Kevin McCarthy/Fox critic that there is GREATNESS inside Suicide Squad. It's just a movie thats a mess.

I still think its a 7 mostly because I love the actors and their performances.

This was a very on the fly kind of movie. His original script didn't include Batman. He asked for it, but didn't know how to properly include him. Ayer looking up instagram gangsters for the Joker reeks of trying to come up with a blockbuster movie on the fly.

He should have fought WB harder to let him make the film a year later. I think he could have figured out what he needed or didn't need to make a great Suicide Squad film. Otherwise they'd been better served being just going with a smaller budget and making it similar to Assault on Arkham

I thought the Bats-Deadshot scene was great, but I do agree about it being a missed opportunity. Transport yourself back in time and watch the leaked video of the Comic-Con trailer with the audience. Back then, I thought this movie was going to be monumental. It was going to be the ultimate DC movie for me since the TDKT.

The fight was great to me when I first watched it. The more times I watched it i realized it was a wasted opportunity. Could have been an epic Deadshot/Zoe trying to escape Batman scene.

Yes the Comic Con trailer had this vibe like it was a next level movie. It looked like something David Fincher would do (based off the trailer)
