Looks like real version vs low budget cosplay lol. Hoping for the original scene especially since the imprefections will be crystal clear to see on bluray.

They ****ed up the helicopter scene in multiple ways. For one, it's way too dark. Joker looks much more visually striking in the behind the scenes shot. Second, the fact that they reworked it and removed Joker chastising Harley. Third, the terrible ADR: "it's you and me, honey". FOURTH, the way they edited the part where Harley falls out of the helicopter.

I remember when people said that Harley Quinn will be useless and it will be a plot hole, and I thought to myself that she will only be in the team because of the Joker. Turns out they were all useless. I can't believe how bad this scene is. It doesn't make any sense.

I know right. The final act was completely unnecessary and boring. I still wanna know what Ayer was thinking when he wrote this movie.

Gotta defend Ayer here.

Its actually no worse (or better) than most comic book movies script wise. The big fight illustrated just how SOL they really were and just how bad Amanda/Government really are at their jobs.

Suicide Squad was never really intended to be what Waller promised. She and them just got lucky that Diablo could do what he could do. Remember they were never sent there to fight Incubus/Enchantress. It was a rescue mission. Just a bunch sorry sob's who decided to join the fight at the end.

People are being way too critical of the story. Unless you're talking about the usage of the Joker. I had no problem with how the squad/Enchantress/Waller were handled. The dialogue is the only issue I have and how things were edited.

I have to defend Ayer as well. And I totally don't mind that they went the Supernatural route, what the issue is, is that it just wasn't executed properly. The effects were just bizarre/over-the-top and not really fitting with the rest of the movie. I think what should have happened is eliminate the useless poorly designed Incubus. Keep Enchantress having her "dark witch" look. I don't even necessarily mind the generic "End of the World Ghostbusters Portal" thing, had they had a proper build up. Have Enchantress be the one to fight Diablo, but keep him in human form.

Still wondering how different the original ending was before reshoots. Wish there was a commentary by Ayer on the Blu-ray.

Agreed.

I still maintain my belief that this film shouldn't have had the Squad going up against a Supernatural Villain like the Enchantress.

Instead, we should have seen them being sent into a hostile/real word-like nation/territory with regular/realistic villains (maybe to kill an Warlord or Tyrant Dictator).

And I also wonder on why...if Waller had files on the likes of the Flash and Aquaman, why didn't she just go about forcing them to become members of the SS?
The others were locked up.

June Moon was having issues controlling Enchantress so she sent Rick Flag to be the guy to help control her.
Diablo turned himself in.

They probably can't "catch" Flash. :cwink:
Aquaman is someone they probably couldn't control either

I agree that Squad works better against something thats not supernatural. I think they just did this to set up Magic in the DCEU. Also to make it a real underdog type story.

I agree with this. Incubus had subpar special effects. The kind that seemed rather last minute. The concept Art of "clean Enchantress" looks great. However, they didn't quite pull it off in the film.

Even though I thought Cara was bad as June Moon. I thought she really good as Enchantress. Especially the dirty witch version. During reshoots they should have either chosen a better outfit for the clean version or just scrap it altogether and just have her dirty the whole time.

Ayer excels at the dark gritty look, so I think thats where things got lost in translation. Really the problem here is that WB made him re-edit/re-shoot his original vision, and he hasn't before proven himself using flashy special effects etc etc. especially rushed like it was. So another director may have pulled off the re-conceptualized film a lot better. Should've left it alone. All signs point to the EC being released on Tuesday as a lot closer to Ayer's original movie. I wonder how much they changed the ending. Seems Katana's possession by Enchantress is being put back in, so I wonder if they just reverted to the pre-reshoot ending.

Edit: It's really a shame they didn't keep the original concept of Enchantress being the window for Steppenwolf and the Paradeamons to come to Earth. It would have given her story a lot more meaning, and they could have really reigned in her powers so her "magic" was more in line with LOTR wizard magic etc etc. I have to wonder if they wanted SS to be a bit more self-contained than being a direct sequel/prequel to BVS and JL.

As disappointing as the script/plot and final act was... What I think was the greater disservice to the film was the shaky "acid trip filter" edits (ruining some great cinematography) and the full volume songs that not only drowned out the score, but felt out of place and distracting to a point where it was difficult to make out character dialogue.

100% this. Pretty sure that acid trip filter won't be in the EC. wouldn't mind if they nixed most if not all of the soundtrack songs. the score was pretty good by itself.

I can see them dropping one or two that aren't on the official soundtrack anyway.

:) That would be a major improvement. I think these two things are what bothered me the most because of how much it took my out of the movie and that is just unforgiving. It wouldn't surprise me if all those songs and that filter was the main contribution of the Trailer Park re-edits.

I'm staying very cautiously optimistic. I'm still inclined to believe this will just be adding a couple of new Joker scenes and won't really be a re-edit of the movie, like X-Men DOFP Rogue Edition. Don't get me wrong, I'll happily take it, but I'm not expecting an alternate version of the movie altogether.

Plot make sense if you break it down, because.. well, the writer wanted it to.. but it makes everything inside seem unrealistic when things are actually happening because... that's the only way to make the plot work. Why, you as a writer, would put yourself at the position of writing about 2 gods fighting some thugs and expect some climatic third act fight. The concept is already off. Incubes should have won in a matter of seconds.

This is fiction. You choose what stories to tell too. It's not just making things coherent. It's about allowing yourself the opportunity to do it in the first place. Suicide Squad is probably the worst comic book movie I've ever seen in that regard.

Adding new Joker scenes would require a bit of a re-edit, though. That's one of the most fascinating things about the extended cut.

So, seeing as it's gonna be the 15th in 1 and a half hours here in Australia, does that mean the EC will be released here at that time? Or will it go on american time?

Australia probably doesn't even have the 15th as the release date. Most other countries have the 18th, the 28th etc.

If you're wondering, the American version will be available in 15.5 hours.
