first of all, I'm not sure why you think I have some sort of personal investment in this film. It's miscast and mishandled, I simply had "good things to say about it." My personal feelings is that it's not much worse then a lot of these comic book films and the critics finally said something about it.
If you wanna see me go to bat for a film, wait till next week.

Secondly, it sure is interesting, but not as interesting as say a hit like Trek dropping 65. Or any film dropping 70 or 80%. The film is doing badly, and it dropped as much as other bigger hits have, how is this not a given.

Not really. A 60% plus drop is a terrible thing for GL, especially when the opening weekend wasn't that good to begin with.

I am glad GL is getting a sequel. I freaking enjoyed the first one, but with round 2 they can fix all the issues the first had.

I'll just leave this here:

Warner Bros. To Pursue ‘Green Lantern’ Sequel

Well, there's always room for improvement. Take Transformers 3 for example. Early reviews are much more positive than they were for the second film, with some even calling it the best TF film yet. If it can work for that franchise, it could work for Green Lantern, especially with Mark Strong in a more major role. As long as they show much more of Oa and the Corps and hire a new writer, I'll come back. Even though I despised a lot of things about the first film.

I'd ditch everyone but Mark Strong, Geoffrey Rush, and Michael Clark Duncan.

Actually it's all about performance, good reviews can't help a bad film.
I'm sure even if the reviews were/are horrible for TF3 it would still be making a run for a top grosser this year.

GL doesn't need good reviews so much as it needs to be a hit. Reviews help in some cases.

You all realize that this GL sequel "news" is just desperation buzz, right?

i think they dont realize this. i think not everyone knows how this works and some dont know what internet sites to trust.

just look at the boxoffice. its not making enough money for a sequel. masses dont care for the movie. movies are made for them. so its over.

yea, they're making a sequel it must be good,
they're making a sequel, forget about how it's going, another, probably better one is on it's way...

yea it's actually a little too transparent.

I still don't think this gets a sequel. And even if it does, massive budget decrease. I think maybe they feel sorry or something I guess for marketing it bad and interfering with the final product but Idk.

A 65% drop, huh? That's about where I figured it'd be. Not quite as bad as Wolverine's(I figure new character/franchise smell has to be helping there), nor is it as bad as AngHulk(though few movies have ever been as reviled as that one).

Green Lantern won't even get to 100 domestic. That's a bomb.

Bad as the movie is doing, there's simply no way it can fail to cross $100M domestic. It's already at $89M and coming off an $18M weekend. I do wonder if it will be able to cross $100M by the end of it's 3rd weekend or not. Thor crossed $100M domestic on it's 9th day. XMFC did it on it's 11th, TIH did it on it's 12th. Can GL do it by it's 17th?

So POTC 4 is 15 millions away from the 1 billion mark!

That would make it the second Johnny Depp movie within a year and a half to earn $1 billion that it doesn't deserve.

And his 3rd billion dollar movie. And I don't think any of them were good enough to deserve it.

i dont like pOTC4. but it deserves its money. nonoe was tricked into the theater. the general public payed their own money form their pocket. and they wanted to give their money to POTC4. :yay:

Green Lantern still hasn't crossed the $100 million mark after 2 weeks and the international grosses are very week. This is BS and nothing more than studio spin.

my friend and I went to the movies on the weekend and nothing was out so we saw cars...
dreamworks really should have reconsidered taking on hangover 2.
