TF3 made a lot of money, so a lot of people like it? A lot of people also like Justin Bieber, Twilight, the Tea Party and homophobia. What do all those things have in common? They'll be outdated and looked upon with shame or blurry memories in 10 to 20 years. That does not mean a whole lot.

I wanna know whose idea was it to put Larry Crowne and Monte Carlo on July 4th weekend. I mean even for counter programming it seems kinda stupid

Clumping those things together with homophobia is over the line, you don't like the TF movies, fair enough, but ease up.

I think Dutch is one of the better added characters to this franchise. I liked how the character wasnt too flashy and over the top but just right between funny and lethal. like you guys said thank god Tuturro was calmned down this go around.

That's what I was saying. Something like homophobia and racism is a major problem and simple ignorance. Liking a TF film isn't ignorance or a major problem. I don't think these films will hold up very well in 50 years, but to use analogies like that is a bit much.

I have yet to see Transformers. I am not surprised at all it made money. I prob will end up seeing it, but I doubt I will think too highly of it. The 1st film was good for what it was, and the 2nd was crap. At best, I'll prob give it a 3 star (and at worst a 1) whenever I see it. I still feel jipped over paying to see that last horrific monstrosity that ROTF was.

I see Transformers dropping more than that but what do I know? It all depends on the weekday performance.

With greater competition on it's heels(and closer too) as well as lesser opening numbers than TF2, there doesn't look like there's any way that TF 3 will be barely crossing the $400M barrier domestic like TF2 did. I guess-timate it''ll do $350-360M-ish.

I saw it again today and it was ****ing packed and that was an 11:30am showing. Transformers won't have the drop Cars 2 or The Hangover Part II had, its getting great word of mouth. Horrible Bosses on the other hand will have a better debut than Bridesmaids I think while possibly giving Hangover Part II a run for it's money.

I'm going to wait for the weekday numbers, a report from one theater doesn't mean much.

boxofficemojo has Captain America making a $47 million opening weekend. I'm gonna call bull**** on that now and say it makes much more than that. Even with Harry Potter. I say at least $60 million and may make as much as $80 million.

It'll be a bigger drop-off, yes. But they're right that Dark of the Moon still wins the weekend.
Yep, DOTM is a lock to win the weekend unless Paul Blart 2 or Horrible Bosses somehow come out and open with over 50mil...Yeah, thats not going to happen in a trillion years.

I'm saying likely wrong because I think Zookeeper finishes ahead of Horrible Bosses

I'm expecting it to have an X-Men-like opening. $55-60 million. I'd love if it did better, though.

Yeah, I don't believe Cap will only make 47 mil...that's ridiculous. They probably believe Potter will have a huge 2nd weekend and any movie will be trampled during that time, including Cap. I think Cap will probably make around Thor's numbers, $60-65 mil, or perhaps a little lower.

I'm thinking 60 Million is likely as well; I can only hope this has awesome legs.
I think it will, but remember, it also has a smaller budget than First Class, so it wouldn't really be a failure at all if it made FC's exact numbers, either. But no, I totally expect it to do better numbers in the long run than X-Men:FC did.

I can see Captain America having amazing Legs but I see Harry Potter just beating it fairly well. I mean I know people that are planning to see this like 4 times. Just in the first weekend its out and countless other times the next weekend.

this is a lot of money. but it would make even more money if TF2 would have a better story IMO.
