didn't someone mention the embargo goes up wednesday?

I don't listen to random people on the internet. The embargo will be over when the reviews start coming in. If thats Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday fine but until then I'm not jumping to conclusions. I don't do that with any film.

yea I remember you give them all a fair shake.

No one said any different and I haven't been around so I assumed it was common knowledge, if not then we'll see. I'm just saying if it is indeed wednesday that would be a sign of confidence level's from the studio.

If the reviews are released on Wednesday that probably means that they are either mixed or outright bad.

No not whatever I say. I'm sorry but I only listen to a select few on here, I'm not saying you are wrong but I'm not going to say you are right either. I've seen people on here make up s**t all the time so yeah...better safe than sorry.

If the first reviews come Wed than you were correct...*shrugs.* Until then I'm not going to engage in this doom and gloom, because GL was blasted by critics, stuff thats happening on this site.

You could be right man lol. But signs lead to a positively reviewed film rather than a stink bomb.

There were always doubts with Green Lantern, but Thor had similar views with Cap earlier this year...and Thor ended up with a great 78% on RT.

I'm getting frustated.

Where in my post did I say that the results aren't impressive? I like to talk about the boxoffice and because of that I can't ignore the elephant in the room when it comes to any 3D movie. I've said this about every 3D movie this year, I'm not just bulls**ting because I hate Potter. 3D tickets are making GL's s**tty numbers look better too. It's not some covert dig at Potter or any other film. Attendence is down this year and 3D ticket prices are making this year look much better than it really is, I'm not going to ignore that fact. Sorry I'm stating boxoffice facts in a thread about boxoffice.

EDIT:

I love that I should calm down about the issue when the mod in question was helping fuel the hate and insult people fest. Thats really rich.

Wait, what the hell did I do to incur this response?

It seemed to me like people were jumping on me for saying that these numbers wouldn't look quite as big without 3D tickets. It seemed like I had post after post telling me how great a record opening is as if I didn't know that. lol It's funny you just now saw that post, maybe you were busy with life...

I got really frustated, thats obvious. It felt like to me, "how dare you bring up movie studios and theaters covert price hike that is making all of these already good boxoffice numbers look better than they are."

That edited part was not directed towards you.

I was actually responding to Liam H, we posted at the same time and yours came up first. I'll be honest and say I wasn't really even reading what you wrote previously.

Even from the very beginning and the trailers Green Lantern did not look very appealing to me and I never saw it in theaters. Captain America on the other hand looks like it will be terrific.

I hope not. That's exactly what WB did for GL.

Have there been any tweets about Cap from reviewers yet? I'm positive we heard news about X-Men the week before it came out.

So far, Cap's early buzz on posts by critics Twitter, military screenings, and test screenings are all positive so far.

We don't have a million statements or anything, but all the ones we have so far are positive.

Good to hear. Cap's my second most-anticipated superhero movie after XFC.

at first I was going to make a joke about asking cats about cat food, but then I reconsidered in light of the fact that my cat is the harshest critic on her food possible.

That being said, just about every movie this year has had positive early feedback of this sort.

I haven't checked any Batman boards lately so...how do they feel about their hero's reign about to end? Because it's inevitably happening with Harry Potter.
We're too busy speculating about the bootleg teaser because WB hasn't released the HD yet. Considering I haven't seen a single peep about Harry Potter in the Batforums lately, WB is doing a good job in keeping the talk about TDKR and not how the box office reign of TDK is going down. :funny:

Maybe that's been their plan all along. :hehe:

Anyways, the take for Potter is obviously massive. I do feel bad for Cap since that actually looks good but it's so hard getting a foot in when you're coming after a juggernaut...

The fastest growing economy in the world, and arguably the best because of it, and yet one of the least developed..with a quality of living for the ages. That's the stuff of fiction.

People really do need to implement some perspective when they rant about Obama.

Despite its amazing rise, I have an odd feeling Chine will face a lot of obstacles on its way to the enhancement of prosperity in nearest few years. Asian economies have always been hard to properly forecast, as it's usually up for a few years, then down for a few more, and then up again. The cycle is pretty continuous regardless of the level of rises and dawns. Same happened in the 90s, when Asia was strenghtening its economic scale to later become a victim of financial crisis.

Nevertheless, I still believe the continent has better prospects for the next one or two decades compared to its Western counterparts (especially Europe).

Tf 1 isn't bad at all. They are fun movies. IMHO tho twilight is just a about a chick that can't choose and her stupid ways idk.

And, Transformers is just about how many more sfx shots Bay will do in the next film :P

I just finished The Hunger Games books, and the girl in that story at a certain point is an absolute mental disaster...because horrible, terrible things happened to her. I was literally in tears reading the last few chapters of those books.

Bella falls into the same state in Twilight because her boyfriend dumped her.

Ugh, Twilight. The series that leaves me embarrassed for my entire gender. Although in fairness, most women I know who read them agree that the books are crap. It's just a guilty pleasure.

And good for Harry Potter for avada kedrava-ing their record yesterday! :awesome:

I've heard some good stuff about The Hunger Games, is the novel any good? I usually read completely different type of stories, similar to Choke, Permanent Midnight and Kafka On the Shore. So, I am wondering if it actually fits my taste.

Or maybe it will be about another legendary autobot returning from the dead but betraying his comrades and everything he stood for in the process. I'm starting to thing the paramount producers shouldn't even bother with story considering no one pays attention anyway.

Marvel's whole strategy with their films and how they relate to the Avengers is brilliant. Even if Captain America is terrible, I still feel like I have to see it based on how it fits in with the other films. Otherwise it is like watching the Harry Potter series and skipping, say, Goblet of Fire. The next film wouldn't make much sense without it.

well put
especially deathly hollows part 1 (though cap should be on dvd by then)

I just hope avengers can stand alone, otherwise it will have a bit of trouble with the casual audience

It's by far my most anticipated this year. Movie looks awesome, and the good buzz I am very excited by! Now, I will just have to do my part to ensure sequels :oldrazz:

Update on weekend estimates for Harry Potter: $168,55 million.
