Superhero Cinematic Civil War - Part 56

There's also some sort of deal between Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando. Universal has Marvel Superhero Island and Disney World can't use the same characters. Not sure about the details though.
The gist of it boils down to Disney can't use any characters in 'character families' of ones used at Universal Orlando east of the Mississippi. No X-Men, no Spider-man, no Fantastic Four, no Avengers, among others. There was a discussion a while back regarding some like Black Panther, who only appears in a painting, and seemingly the answer is they can't use him or others in the same situation either but it's not 100% clear. So Guardians are going in Epcot, as they're in the clear. I assume, if Eternals is a hit, it'll show up there as well.

This is why, in Florida, Disney's Marvel previews do not have the 4D effects they do in California, and the Avengers-wrapped monorail could only travel the resort loop rather than the Epcot loop, as doing so would pass into the theme park and would be considered in violation of the agreement.

Speaking of, Marvel Superhero Island at Islands of Adventure really captures everything I love about Marvel. It has that gritty 90's quality to it. It really feels like you're in the streets of NYC in the Marvel Universe, and the colorful character art everywhere, the techno-ish music, etc is perfect. The Hulk is actually frightening, the Dr. Doom Tower is imposing and villainous, and the Spider-Man ride captures the world of Spidey impeccably.

The 2000 Neversoft Spider-Man game also represents the same gritty NYC Marvel perfectly and is one of my favorite Marvel things. The X-Men legends games and Marvel Ultimate Alliance as well.

The MCU on the other hand, is a lot more family-friendly, comedy-oriented, and cosmic in nature. Just a different feel. It's actually fitting, because it feels more "Disney" than the vibe at the Universal park.

I've been to Marvel Superhero Island on a number of occasions and I'd describe it as anything but "gritty".

I mean comparatively, obviously. Even compared to the other parts of Universal and definitely Disney. I grew up going to the park almost every weekend, and especially at night Marvel Superhero Island definitely has a great streets of NY theme going. I don't mean gritty like it's Judge Dredd or anything, but compared to the magical vibes at Disney, it's definitely different.

Nighttime does it more justice, and the music adds a lot.

‘Game Of Thrones’ Star Kit Harington To Join The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Deadline hears it is to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he will make his next film. Sources said that Harington will join one of Marvel and Kevin Feige’s superhero franchises. All of Marvel and Disney is busy with the D23 Expo this weekend in Anaheim. I was unable to figure out which film, and nobody was around to elaborate, which they probably wouldn’t anyway. I wouldn’t be surprised, though, if some of those details are filled in before the weekend is out. Stay tuned.

I was just there the other week. I love spending time in that area, it definitely captures a 90s Marvel feeling. The stores have a lot of cool collectibles as well.

The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man ride at Universal Orlando is one of the best rides ever (my favorite). That whole little Marvel Superhero Island is a nice slice of classic Marvel to me. I like how the theming in that area is so comic focused and that it still exists. I mean, the whole place has Adam Kubert art, Mark Bagley art, and Sal Buscema art scattered throughout! It's cool Disney's gonna have a new Spidey ride in California, can't wait to see what it's gonna be like. All the movie theming isn't my cup of tea, though.

Both of these posts make me want to go revisit it. It's probably been a solid decade since I've been down there. I loved Disney World as a kid but Marvel superhero island was always the best part of every trip to Orlando.

I also love the Gotham/Metropolis parts of Six Flags in Atlanta. Went there basically every summer as a kid.

There's quite a collection of MCU busts, figures, and statues throughout now as well. Definitely cool.

Moon Knight show announced for Disney+.

This is awesome news. Blade and now Moon Knight. My hopes for a Marvel Knights/Max side of the MCU are higher than ever. Now we just need Daredevil and Punisher back in the mix.

She Hulk is unfortunate. Would have preferred they actually do something with Hulk before shuffling him off to play second fiddle to Jen.

Yeah, pretty disappointed about Hulk taking a backseat. Concerned about the same thing happening to Thor in LAT and beyond.

I'm fine with whatever they wanna do next for the legacy characters for Cap and Iron man. They got to have complete, satisfying arcs. They now feel worthy of spin offs and legacy characters.

That's not the case at all for Hulk and Thor. They still have a ton of potential left.

Who knew the Mandalorion trailer would show me what has been missing the last 30 years of my life. Pure Star Wars Joy!

She-Hulk will be interesting. Moon Knight is something I'm looking forward to immensely.

A lot of upcoming tv shows. I hope they're not as essential to watching some of the upcoming movies as some MCU films are.

Really surprised about Ms. Marvel. I thought for sure it would be a feature.

Really cool to hear about Moon Knight and super happy about She-Hulk.

Was hoping she would debut in a feature with Bruce but won't complain too much, excited to finally see her in live-action and I'm sure it will be really good.
