Superman 615 is Hilarious

I liked the Operation table they had Metallo on
I still haven't read the ish yet, so can someone fill me in on what Metallo was doing here? Was he restored into a robot body?

Spoil me, dammit!!

please. :(

Kenny Braverman, anyone?

Kryptonite as the uber compound has nothing to do with Smallville.

he was restored into a clone body... but with the kryptonite heart still.

Lex Luthor paralyzed him and then took his heart.

Please note the fact that Conduit and everything associated with him sucked and has never been mentioned since because the entire premise of his powers were flawed to begin with.

Smallville is responsible for bringing that once forgotten suckiness back to the surface after years of being buried.

He still had a roboting frame, but he had replaced most of his body with organics.

Well, maybe Corben'll finally get motivated to go back into action to get revenge with some crazy robotic smashing, or something along those lines.

I can dream.

It would be cool. I always saw Corben as someone who, due mostly to their cultured and intelectual natures, would get along with Lex rather well, but still wouldn't hesitate to get some revenge if Lex wronged him. At least, that was before they started writing him with The Parasite's presonality again.

it's not as if that was the only instance

also before Smallville

In that book, as far as I know, Superman was infected with a nanovirus laced with kryptonite (which also killed the Parasite in the previous book, I might add). That doesn't seem to be anything new for kryptonite, just a new method of using it to poison Superman.

Yeah, I would imagine if Superman comes into contact with Kryptonite in any way, it'd hurt him. That's what it was supposed to do in the first place.

it created a new villain out of kryptonite "tumor" that was in him

Smallville episodes were already being written by the time that tpb came out, but your point does stand.

I will, however, note that most reviews I could find for that book are either negative or stradling the fence, seemingly reading it only because it's Superman.

The general population of Superman fans don't seem to like the (very seldom seen) kryptonite-themed villains, and that's why the 90's had some of the best written Superman stories when looking back at the kinds of threats he went up against. He rarely even encountered kryptonite, and the writers were having a blast not having to rely on such a stereotypical (and bland) premise for a threat.

Exactly. Riot is still probably one of my favorite Superman villains. First off, he's crazy as hell, and that makes a fun read. And second, it's his threat level. He, nor any of his copies, are string enough to hurt Superman on their own. But, there are just so damn many of them that they overpower him. That's cool, and makes for some great visuals.

Yeah, that'd be me. I can't stand how Kryptonite is used to just randomly empower people with anything. Smallville's Kryptonite freaks-of-the-week are bad enough in Smallville. I don't need them invading the comics as well.

Yeah. The only k-themed villain that I ever want to see would be Metallo, but don't mistake that as a requirement (in my mind) for Corben to be a threat. With his dealings with Neron and Brainiac 13 over the years, Corben would basically be a technological God if he were ever to be written with his full personality and powers in place.

Too bad they decided to make him "Parasite two: electric boogaloo". :(

The new Kryptonite Man seems interesting. Outside of him and Metallo, though, I think Kryptonite should be limited to just rocks that other people use to hurt Supes.

Hey Corp, you gonna come back to the DC RPG anytime soon? We miss you. :(

I'll try to swing a post tonight. I know I won't have that much time to post for a while, so I didn't want to have Wally pop up in the fight and then stand around doing nothing.

well, I'm glad Johns and Busiek are making it more than "just a rock to hurt Superman"

now with more Sunstone :)

As a long time Superman fan, I'm pretty happy with the story and can't wait to see where they go from here.

Now if we could just get Terry Dodson off covers :o

I have no problem with the story so far. I just don't like the idea of Kryptonite somehow creating every power under the sun randomly in people. It's becoming like getting your hands on Kryptonite is equivalent to winning the beneficial gene mutation lottery.

Yeah. I mean, whatever happened to Kryptonite giving you cancer? Anyone remember that? Cancer? I miss the cancer.
