Superman SPOILER Review Thread (NO TAGS NECESSARY)

Mister Terrific riding on the back of Krypto was definitely not on my bingo card for this year.

This movie is such beautiful, creative superhero cinema MADNESS!

The rewatch ability of this film is actually ridiculous lool This film managed to get my folks who do not like the cinema in general to get into one and they enjoyed it alot. My lil circle have seen it more than twice....

Superhero fatigue they said lmaooo

So, did anyone ask Gunn yet on how Lex's prisoners in the pocket dimension would relieve themselves? I don't recall seeing a toilet or sink in any of those glass containers.lol

They had toilets.

I hope Sasha Calle gets more work. She was one of the few things I really liked about that stupid movie. I need to check out On Swift Horses.

And maybe Gunn will find a way to bring her back into the DC fold. There are plenty of other great characters she could fit.

it's really weird how older keaton batman and alternative universe supergirl were the best parts of a FLASH movie.

though i did like ezra miller's performance in it - i thought they did really good.
even tho they are a crazy unhinged mfer in real life. haha

I hope I never see Ezra in anything again. Not only because they are a garbage human (that is most of it) but also because I found them insufferable in their last 2-3 movie appearances. I think they DID have talent once but whatever happened to it must have disappeared along with whatever was left of their soul.

I enjoyed the movie overall! Felt like it captured the tone of what I want in Superman so much more than Zack Snyder did. Really happy with the characterization of Superman, the casting of him (and other key characters like Lois and Lex). Superman felt heroic again and it was nice seeing him save multiple civilians as well as a squirrel, always wanting to do the right thing.

My one negative is one that is a personal pet peeve of mine and others might not care about this at all but I just don't like when they make the 'big bad' just a copy paste of our hero. And I know Lex is technically the big bad but I mean the 'final boss' that Superman is fighting which turns out to be a copy of himself with the same powers. I just find it to be pretty lazy and it's the one element that stops me from putting Iron Man or Logan in the S-tier of superhero movies. They're so good until they introduce the villain that's basically just a mirror of our hero. I just prefer when the villain has different powers as it makes the fights more interesting.

But overall still like a very solid 7.5/10 or so. If anything I feel they have a great foundation to build on, with the potential to make an even better sequel.

The Flash was severely miscast. Ezra should have been replaced with Grant, NO matter the cost.
It probably would have been better received critically and better received by the public.
Grant would have had lots of fans that would have went to see him as the Flash.

That would’ve been no better than putting Tom Welling in Superman Returns as I remember so many fans demanding. We don’t need to start using the TV actors in the movies. They play the TV versions. The movies are supposed to be their own versions, and there are plenty of good actors out there who can play them.

Gunn says it's possible now. :o

Giving movie versions of characters their own TV shows is not the same thing as taking the guy who played the Flash or Superman in a totally different incarnation on TV and putting him in a movie that’s supposed to be the first in a series that’s its own versions/universe made by totally different people.

Gustin is not good enough to lead a $200 million dollar film...and very few actors are. Plus he would have a different suit, different story and likely different cast so it would be super confusing.

There is a reason Routh works well on the CW as Supes but not on film. Totally different setup and skillset.
