Survivor: Samoa

What exactly has Russell done other than be a cocky, arrogant trash talker?! Monica put it perfectly last night - "You're only here because of the idols."

Russell lacks any sort of social game that clinches the win for most Survivor winners in the past. Jaison and Natalie both have played good cop to Russell's over the top bad cop. They've both got good connections to most of the jury. That haven't made any desperate promises to people, than gone back on their word. They've stayed loyal to their Foa Foa alliance.

Don't let the editing fool you into thinking Russell is the only person doing anything in the game.

They are both in the perfect position to snowball Russell at the end with their jury performance. Mick could do the same as well.

Russell, you idiot.

That said, props to him for having the balls not to play the idol. I, too, figured he was a goner for sure. However, that was far from being to the editors' credit. Disappointed not to see more strategizing.

This episode felt kind of like a filler, serving only to get the no-brainers out of the way so as to get to the real game next week.

I hope next week, or any week before the game's end, will be Brett's turn to leave. If he gets anywhere near the final three... well, landslide jury votes are just so boring.

I was shocked that Russell didn't play the idol...even more shocked that they didn't take the opportunity to blind side him.

Dave looked like he had just been liberated from Auschwitz.

Monica looked like the bride of Skeletor.

Even Natalie doesn't look so great anymore... kinda like those heroin chic models who purge too much. All bones, no meat.

Yeah, Dave looked terrible.

Potential spoilers....

Apparently Mick, John, Dave, and Brett have been hanging out a lot post show. Could that be a sign of how they voted on the jury? Hmmmm...

Also, Natalie HAS NOT been back to work since filming ended. One of the players on the jury told her not to because she was the winner......We'll see in a week!

Funny she should say that. Finding the idols is more initiative than Monica (or anyone else) has shown on the show. He's found three idols (two without clues!). Maybe that's not part of the social game, but it's definitely part of the game. Monica, Kelly, Laura, Erik and the rest ... any of them could have found those idols just as easily if they had bothered to look as hard as Russell. But they were too busy meditating on the beach, complaining about Shambo or chasing chickens. In the sense of showing initiative at least and getting something done that he's put his mind to, Russell is an infinitely superior player to Monica.

I thought Richard Hatch had no social game too. And... well....

If Russell is smart he'll take Shambo into the final three, and that might give him a shot. Shambo is the one person I can see getting less votes. It's too bad for Russ it's a final three and not a final two. Imagine Laura's scrunched up face if she had to pick between Sham and Russ. :hehe:

Did anyone else find it odd that Brett and Monica voted for Dave? Even after Monica went to Russell on Dave's behalf? What was that all about?

Richard had a GREAT social game in Borneo. Even though he played the game like a snake he kept up great relationships with not only his alliance but with the opposing tribe as well, specifically his friendships with Greg, Sean, and Rudy.

Kelly was the one in that F2 that didn't have a stellar social game. She lost it because she pissed Sue off so bad.

I noticed that too...very odd.

They probably realized that their voting for someone else wouldn't save Dave and thus, cut their losses. No sense in further alienating the other alliance.

At the same time though, why risk ticking off the jury?

I'm sure they probably told Dave or Dave told them both to just vote him out.

That's certainly a possibility. We all know the show likes to edit things to make them look like something they're not.

I really don't see how Russell's gameplan differs from any of the other Foa Foa's at all, other than him being the front man and is knack for finding hidden immunity idols, which in my mind shows he should get the votes. Everyone's talking about how bitter the jury's gonna be, why? They were just plain outplayed, Foa Foa found and exploited Galu's weaknesses, they didn't betray any alliances. The only thing that could be said was Russell's lying to John, but if John actually believed Russell, he's a moron. I don't think Russell has played a great game, but he's played a better game than anyone else from this season.

The Galu's will be bitter just for the simple fact that they are on the jury and the Foa Foan's aren't. Whether it's justified or not is irrelevant. It's all in the way they perceived the game while they were in it and while they are on the jury.

It doesn't matter whether or not Russell played a good game or if the jury are being wet blankets. The jury stage is usually always the most crucial point in the game. You have to play the game to the point where you put people on the jury, but you put them on the jury in a way that they'll want to vote for you in the end. Russell has not done that.

No matter how aggressive, or sneaky his gameplay has been, if people simply don't like you enough to want to vote for you to win, that's not their problem that's yours. The fact of the matter is that you can clearly tell this will be hugely bitter jury when the finale rolls around. I would be shocked if Russell won.

If Brett and Monica had had any brains they would have targeted Shambo and pitched voting her off to Jaison and Mick. There is no particular reason for Jaison and Mick not to have voted out Shambo at that point since the Foa Foa four would still have the numbers.

If Russell had complained they should just have told him that she had to go at some point and since she was more of a threat physically then Monica it was best to get rid of her now. They could then have sugar coated things and told Russell that they didn't tell him about it because they knew he was friends with her and didn't want to put him in the position of having to vote her out.

Of course editing might have played a part here but it seemed to me that they instead targeted Russell which made no sense since the other Foa Foas had no reason to vote him out at that point.

Russell had some balls to show off the idol like that.

I'm glad Monica got voted off. How utterly stupid of her to say "You're only here because of the idols" Well duh you dumb bi***, the hidden idols ARE part of the game, it's not like he begged Jeff or one of the higher ups at CBS to stay on the show.

Should we say the people that win regular immunity at the challenges shouldn't be there either?

Russell is a smart player, no doubt about that. Monica got in over her head with him.

They need to find a way to blind side Russell or he will go to the final two. I really don't see him winning though. The other players seem to be on to his game, but for some reason they fear him.

Why blindside him? Were I playing to win the game, I'd want Russell with me in the finals all the way. With this bitter a jury, it's a guaranteed win. Russell would be the subject of so much ire that I'd get most of the votes just because they'd rather swim in a vat of acid than throw their votes Russell's way. And since it will be a final three, I'd take Shambo, too, another person Galu has every reason to despise.

This is what Natalie is gunning for, I daresay. She seems to be closer to Russell than Mick and Jaison, which makes sense if she's following through the aforesaid plan.

Yep! Natalie has been Russell's partner in crime the entire game, only he's getting all the heat while she makes inroads with everyone else in the game and works on those relationships it takes to win over the jury at the final TC.

LoL

Also Natalie can say at the final TC, that she's directly responsible for the success of Foa Foa and she'd be totally right.

If it wasn't for her play at the merge to get the Galu women to vote out Erik, all the Foa Foa's would be the jury right now.

I would have no problem seeing Natalie win one million, she's done pretty good in a lot of challenges too.

Has anyone been reading Dave Ball's post show interviews? Jeez, he's such a delusional tard! He was asked who he blamed for the downfall of Galu at the merge and he said Shambo.

Uuuuuh, Shambo was the only person that didn't vote for Erik at the merge you dumb***!

Dave is such a condescending ass. If I was Shambo I'd retort with "Nice hair, dude. Pony-tail in the back and comb-over on the top. This is Survivor, not some aging hippie commune."

The only thing I liked about Dave was his TC reactions. "Whoa..." "Awesome..." and of course this ******ed look :awesome:

Go watch his interview on Survivor Talk over at EW.com. Jenna Morasca is the co-host with Dalton Ross.

He goes on a delusional tirade about how good of a player he was and all this hypocritical backtalk. He then starts going in on Jenna M. and then she makes the awesome reply back to him "Well, I won my season..." then has this look on her face like "WTF did you do" :hehe: :hehe: :hehe:
