Syfy Nearing Series Order For "12 Monkeys" Adaptation

It's got Amanda Schull in it? I might need to check this out now! I liked her in Suits.

Yes , she is actually pretty good in this, btw the 2nd episode is now on the syfy website (for 24hrs)

I always found Amanda Schull reminds me of a cross between Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman. I wish she were still in Suits (her character was fired) but at least she is the lead in another series now.

I liked the first episode, I'm such a scifi nerd i'm probably the only one who liked Ascension too. Anyway I will be tuning in, I liked some of the changes they made.

2nd episode was just as good as the pilot imo,I liked that we got to see more of the future timeline (but something tells me there is more to Kirk Acevedo character).

I enjoyed it as well,my only problem is that I find it hard to relate to the main character (Cole)

Same here. I don't find Aaron Stanford all that interesting as a lead. Would've preferred someone else. Amanda Schull, on the other hand, is wonderful to watch.

The pilot wasn't bad. I'll see where it goes. If it weren't for Schull I might not be as interested. I saw the movie years ago when it first came out but don't remember it too well. I see they've changed the female lead character name from Kathyrn to Cassandra. Not sure why they would make a superficial change like that.

Big fan of the movie..one of my all time favs.

I enjoyed the pilot.

Amanda Schull eerily resembles Rachel Taylor in this show.

I don't know who that is but must check her out if Amanda looks like her. I found out that Amanda was a professional ballet dancer and has starred in a few dancing movies.

Australian actress from Transformers 1, the cancelled Charlies Angel's tv show and NBC's Crisis.

When Cole 'splinters' he is pulled back into the time traveling room, the first time we see him get pulled back from the alley, why didn't they treat his bullet wound before sending him to 2015..?

The second episode was a lot better. I gotta say, this show is quite the pleasant surprise so far. I'll continue watching to see where this goes.

I remember her now from the cancelled Charlie's Angels show. But I think Amanda Schull looks prettier. As I've suggested before, Amanda is like the love child of Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman. Rachel just seemed bland to me in Charlie's Angels.

This is bland?

…i need to hang around you then!:cwink:

I like Amanda better and think she's got a lovely smile, which even has a slight mischievous look to it. Easier to see it in live action:

And she has a great personality.

Hot 1950s photoshoot of Amanda Schull :wow:

She seems like she should've had a role in CA: TFA or Agent Carter. And the song playing in the video would actually be perfect for Peggy Carter.

In Greek mythology there was a woman named Cassandra who was given the ability to see the future/prophecy, but was cursed so that no one would believe her. That's why they changed the name.

I'll be honest here, I always thought SyFy shows looked cheap and had sub-par acting but I gave this a shot since I loved the movie back in the day and I must say I found it quite good! The FX were better than I expected and I think since I haven't watched the movie in a while helps since I'm not nitpicking things they did or didn't do. I'm intrigued to see where it goes from here, I've got this saved to my shows on the DVR so I'll be tuning in.

I took it as he jumped from the alley to the hotel. That's why he was still bleeding and why she was waiting around at the hotel for a week. Cole said splintering isn't an exact science

Amanda Schull previewed a little about what's up next for Cassie:

You'll see what happened and what made her kind of I don't know if downfall is the right word that you'll see. You'll see what really spiraled her further on to this mission.

... I think the dynamic [with Cassie and Aaron and Cole] is complicated. Her relationship with both men is very complicated and unique and you'll see the different facets of it play out over the course of the season in different ways in different time periods as well. Within the flashbacks, as well as going forward, you'll see what sort of makes them tick and what doesn't make them tick.

Aaron Stanford gave some details on the future, which the premiere didn't spend a lot of time in:

It's the apocalypse, so it's pretty grim. There's a plague – a pandemic – that has wiped out 7 billion people. The world is in chaos. All the trappings of present-day society are in ruins. There's no electricity, unless you can rig up a generator of some kind. You don't have running water. There's no form of government. There's no protection for anybody. People are living at the mercy of whatever stragglers are left alive. It's a pretty bad place.

He adds that the effect of time traveling on Cole will be revealed bit by bit and there is a "cost."

Stanford also said that there is nothing Cole won't do to complete his mission:

He's willing to do whatever it takes. He's not playing by normal rules. He's not hamstrung or held up by any sort of conventional morality. As far as he's concerned, the end justifies the means. The ends are so great with saving the human race that almost anything is fair play. Almost anything is in bounds of what he can do.

Here's showrunner Natalie Chaidez on Cole, Cassie, and Jennifer Goines' dynamic as a group:

They're trying to capture mercury. They can't get a straight answer out of [Jennifer]. Everything she says, she speaks sideways, if not flat out runs out of the room sideways. It's like working with the least reliable witness in the world, who may or may not have her own agenda. She's got a bit of a thing for Cole, so you've got a bit of a twisted love triangle there. They have a very special bond. Maybe not so much of a thing for Cassie, though. She can see that Cole may be sweet on Cassie, so it's that twisted, fun love triangle dynamic.

She also promises that they can sustain the show past one season:

With 12 Monkeys, we do have a road map. The ideas are bigger than just stopping the plague. Who the [Army of the] 12 Monkeys are, what they actually want, what time travel actually is, what the real enemy of mankind is are bigger questions that the series will address. It will take a major and exciting turn in season two that will thrust the show into a different direction and a different mystery and we will move past that. There is a certain Lucy and the football quality, when audiences are watching and going, "Oh yeah, now we're going to stop the plague again!" The cool thing about this show is that there's a bigger mythology behind it. Over the course of the second season, it opens up into a different mystery of who the 12 Monkeys are and what their actual end goal is.

That's what i assumed too….i just assumed every time he splinters he returns to the room, and then they send him to the next destination…

I wonder if he has the ability to control where he goes, independent of the control room? I ask because how would the control room know he needed to go to 2015, when he ended up at the hotel? He said himself, that they sent him back too far when he was in the alley which was 2013…, so the control room either forwarded him to 2015 or he can control where he ends up.

I watched the movie ages ago, but the main reason I'm watching this is for Amanda Schull, because I think she's absolutely gorgeous and funny, and I loved her in Suits. For that reason I'm not nitpicking either.

Now that I'm thinking about it even more maybe he did splinter to the control room and the. They just sent him right back since maybe they aren't equipped to deal with gunshot wounds in the future? Just a thought. Maybe it will get clarified in future episodes

Two dudes from Nikita, Louis Litt's associate from Suits and of course no sci-fi TV show is complete without Kirk Acevado! Plus the guy who was Leland Frost is basically Hollywood's go to shadowy heel figure and the nut job preacher of the Army of the 12 Monkey's is another character type specialist, it makes the show like a comfy pair of slippers.

I don't really recall the movie it's that long since I saw it so I'm just taking the show on it's own merits, and I found the first 2 eps engaging and intriguing.

Amanda Schull was apparently in an episode of Nikita as well.

She's so gorgeous

Tom Noonan being creepy as f***.

I always found him a little (unintentionally?) creepy on Damages, so this role fits him like a glove as far as I'm concerned, lol.
