Finally saw this myself the other day, absolutely loved it, was like the 80's all over again, loved the Arnie, Bruce and Sly scene, but the movie had plenty of other great ones as well, 8/10.

Besides wanting to see Russell, JCVD, Snipes, Chan, The Rock, and Clint Eastwood (in a cameo) added to the cast in the sequel.

More than anything I would like to see a better overall director than Sly takeover directing duties for the sequel.

JOHN McTIERNAN to direct all the way!!

Make it happen Sly!

I saw the movie last weekand thought it was ok, but it didn't come near my media hyped up expectations. It took too long to get going for me, and I didn't get any team dynamic from them, because they were constantly split up until the third act.

The action scenes were very good, but in terms of huge explosions and big set pieces won't be overly memorable over the test of time (Unlike the Nakatomi tower roof exploding, Cyberdyne factory, etc.) but there were really nice moments in the fight sequence, epsecially Statham and Li's double team finishing move.

I was shocked to see a movie be nostalgic to the 80's action movies, but adding in so much more plot than what they did back then. Don't get me wrong, the Rourke scene about the girl who committed suicide is excellently acted and he is the glue holding the film together in my opinion, but it is so much so that it feels out of place in this macho action flick.

Cast wise, I thought everyone did a grand job, including those who haven't had much experience with acting, with notable mentions to Lundgren and Statham. For the sequel, it would be nice to have a different director as I find that Stallone tends to put the camera on himself more than his costars. That works well in Rocky and Rambo, but not in a film with an ensemble cast. Plus, if I had been doing the marketing for this, I would have kept Arnie footage to a minimum, because we had seen the vast majority of the scene before the film came out.

That's my feelings on it after one viewing. Will be watching it again with the wife and maybe a few more times before the bluray comes out, so it may grow on me more, but for now 6/10.

JCVD? Yes. Seagal? No.
Wouldn't it be fun though to have Seagal as one of the lead henchmen for the bad guy. He plays the Steve Austin part, not many lines but then gets his ass kicked in the end in an over the top way by a JCVD or Lundgren?

I'd love that.

Loved this flick. Statham was the ultimate bad ass. More so than Sly i thought.

Only thing that bugged me was the cheap CGI explosions at the end. I thought this was an homage to the 80s? YOU DON'T CGI YOUR EXPLOSIONS!!!!!!!!!! BLOW THAT **** UP FO REAL!!!!!!!!!!

According to an artical posted September 15th on Box Office Mojo the Overseas box office for the Expendables is now $130,000,000 and the Domestic(9/14 BOM also) is now $99,058, 962.

Nice! Great to see a movie like this doing fairly well.

Tommy Lee Jones gave him a tiny cut over the eye in Under Siege, then Seagal cuts him five times before stabbing him through the skull and throwing him head first into a computer monitor (Jones was playing an ex-CIA assassin, so I would have thought he'd have put up a better fight). In Glimmer Man, Seagal gets punched in the face once and given a bloody nose. In every other movie, he takes the toughest guy he's fighting and snaps his neck without even having a single hair out of place. I mean seriously, not even Bruce Lee came out of his movies unscathed. And he was BRUCE F**KIN' LEE!

I think you are right to a certain point. It seems a lot of his main villains get taken down in 1:30 minutes after being built up the entire movie. I've only seen him really get beaten up once Marked for Death and it winds up being his longest fight . of course he kills that guy dead by gauging his eyes , breaking his vertebrae and throwing him down an elevator shaft.
Seagal is over the top ridiculous in these films when it comes to action but it's still enjoyable. Seagal supposedly argued people don't want to watch him lose but he signed onto Executive Decision to die in the first half hour ,
he has spoofed his action in The Onion Movie, and recently played a villain who dies hilariously in Machete.
Sure he wears a lot of hair gel but he is iconic when it comes to these action films. Stallone asked him to be a part of Expendables and there is a fan base that wants to see it . It's like a last hurrah and I want to see it happen . I'd prefer him to be a villain though.

According to the Expendables Wikipedia page the DVD/Blu Ray will come out in December. Have you guys seen this anywhere else?

At least this is now considered a "hit"!! I know some people thought this would under perform, but it did what I expected it to do, and I'm happy with it.

Now, they need to get their asses in gear and start the sequel.:hrt:

I was in HMV here in the UK, and it said the release date was the 13 of December.

It's a hit, now start writing the sequel Stallone.

Willis as villain in part2, and schwarzenegger as villain in part3?

If Arnie and Bruce don't have some expanded roles I won't be interested... unless they dig up some other actors that were supposed to be in this but backed out for whatever reason.

I would say this all comes down to deals being worked out with the actors because Sly wants Willis as the main or Super villian as I've read. Personaly I would love to see it be able to be worked out so that Willis and Arnold are both in the second movie.

Like JCVD? :oldrazz: He was the only one missing. Maybe when he sees the money this movie is making, he'll reconsider

That's why that's one of my favorite Seagal movies. And I think the Jamaikan guy was legitimately a skilled swordsman, so as long as they both had swords they were evenly matched. Once it went to hand to hand it was all over for Screwface.

I'd actually love to see him actually make C**k Puncher into an action/spoof movie. That would be hilarious. I just don't know if his ego would allow him to lose a fight in a serious action movie like Expendables 2.

Fun? Yes. Likely? Not with Seagal's ego.

It's a shame if he let's his ego get in the way. Stallone seems like a great guy to work with and would make him look good even in defeat. I read JCVD kind of had the same issue about losing but not sure if it's true .

Seagal would be perfect for an action spoof movie and I can see him doing it down the line , running around ripping necks off. Lawmen is doing ok but not sure it will get past three seasons. Seagal speaking jive is classic though.

"You don't have the b*lls."

I don't need them to be lead guys, but if it just dialogue again it's a fail. If Arnie is actually serious about getting back into acting, he has to ditch the political career. Can't have it both ways, and I don't think he's willing to give up on that.
