The Dark Knight TDK Nearly Upon Us: A SHH Reflection Thread

I remember the uproar when this image was released:

joker.jpg
Ah, yes. Trying to forget.

são paulo and frustration and not getting to play the game and sitting at the computer all day on my birthday...a bowling ball would have been a sweet gift...well a joker bowling ball i should say

Honeslty Heath will always have the last laugh. Most fans were stunned when he was casted. I wont lie I was a doubter too.I would make stupid Brokeback jokes to some of my friends about what I though about his casting.Hell even alot of fans were just like WTF?! Heath = Joker?Nope. I rememberr hearing people say "Oh well Nicholsan has nothing to worry about. He'll always be The Joker. Then a year later we head the teaser and a photo of heath. I pesonally joined the Heath Bandwagon when the teaser came out. The two things I was looking for wwas Laugh and Voice. and he Nailed it. Right on the spot. Then the second tralier came and people were like :wow: and "Nicholsan Who?!" Heath + Joker= Best one yet...and people didnt even see his full perrformance yet.

Its funny though two years ago most people didnt want heath it was either Bettany and Hulme if Im not mistaken.

Now that everyone wants Heath he aint here to accept the praise that he will be getting from Fans and Critques. Where ever you ae Heath. We miss you buddy.

It would of been cool though if he had been alive and he was nominated for an Oscar and Jack Nicholsan would of gave him the Oscar as a Passing of the torch. :(

I don't think Depp could carry off the replacement.

Daniel Day Lewis could, although he might be a bit old.

Hugh Jackman has worked with Nolan before on the Prestige... He has the acting chops... It would be interesting to see what he could do with the character.

Something tells me that Ryan Reynolds would actually be able to carry it off. He's genuinely a good actor. Just gets iffy roles.

Ed Norton would be a brilliant Joker.

Actually... Ed Norton would be my first choice for a replacement.

Gentleman, i can only thank you for a really fun ride. I Was't here at the beggining, i lost the teaser, the perma-white debates, the leaked set pics, but what i catch, i enjoyed very much.

For me, whe are a brotherhood, a group of people, an army, reunited by the love for the complex universe created in ''Detective Comics 28'' by Bob Kane.

And i dare to say: Let's make a covenent. A Pact of continue together, laughin, crying and enjoying the ride. ''Batman 3'' is going to come. And i'll be pround to dig it with you.

I raid my glass for the Dark Knight forum troupe! There will never be more passionate men and women!

hmm...Heath skateboarding on set....does anyone remember that?:woot: RIP, sir.

Daniel Day Lewis and Johnny Depp are the only actors you mentioned that are capable of disappearing in their characters. Ed Norton and Ryan Reynolds are always Ed Norton and Ryan Reynolds.

Can you picture depp being properly aggressive though?

I would point out films such as fight club for norton. He was totally absorbed in that film. He's an amazing actor and he can do very complex characters.

But you still don't forget the fact that he's Ed Norton when you're watching it, if you now what I mean. As opposed to Brad Pitt where I was seeing Tyler Durden, not Brad Pitt.

And I like Ed Norton, but most actors don't have that ability where you acknowledge the character over the actor himself. Heath only showed that talent recently, right about Lords of Dogtown.

ddl is indeed too old
depp is the only one that can do it, either him or somebody new

picks that are possible but im personally not fond of
-dicaprio- its possible but i believe his joker will be too much in his own personal style
norton -very unlikely but could possibly make a semi decent joker
-casey afleck -meh i doubt it maybe
-jim carrey- either a HUGE hit or a Huge miss, my guess is hed screw it up
ryan renolds\jackman as the joker:whatever:

Ugh, can we not have this turn into a 'Recast the Joker' thread.

This thread is supposed to be about reflections, not predictions.

Go to the casting threads in the sequels forums.

Do you remember that ''leaked pages of the script''?

POLICE: What was more flashing at him? Eyes? Hair?

DUDE: Smile... His smile...

Which viral was this?
49 locations, where we had to go around and take pictures of giant letters to make "The only sensible way to live in this world is without rules."

I saved that on my computer. It's quite touching. :csad:

Man, I hope that makes it in.
If you're talking about the casting sides, I think all of them were actually pieces from the script. We've seen some (albeit slightly rewritten) in footage now.

I think my favorite casting side was the bit about

one of Joker's goons having the bomb in his stomach and he says that he'll light up like Christmas.

That always freaked me out a little bit. Hopefully that segment is in the film.

-Ledger's casting.
-First picture of The Joker.
-First picture of the new batsuit.
-Heath skateboarding around set in costume (OMG Teh JOKR SK8BOREDS??!!).
-First theatrical trailer.
-Second theatrical trailer.
-Viral marketing campaign.
-Ledger's death.
-Nolan's essay concerning Ledger.

I remember freaking out for a nano-second because I didn't know that the film was complete when Ledger died.

My friend jake was the one that told me when he died, he called me, I was at my kitchen table with my sister, and we were both utterly shocked for the longest time.

Finding out Heath was cast
The first picture..:wow:
SDCC, and experiencing my first ARG game.
Hearing that laugh, and the "why does he sound country?" wuuurd
The first trailer
The Cake's, missing class to run to 86th, only to get beaten out. Saw Crook (wasnt properly introduced tho lol) Keith, francis, and laura..
The prologue... :wow::wow:
The text that said "Heath Ledger died.. Sorry" and me feeling like it was my relative that died.
The Hunt, stopping traffic, and getting that great ass joker card (despite my girlfriends envious glares, I survived)

And honestly, every single picture, article, leak, and commercial has been engraved into my memory. I will forever remember how awesome this ride has been, and how it feels right now that its almost a week away. All the great fans I met along the way, all the smart posts that I have had the privilege to lurk upon, and even the stupid ones were story-worthy...

Heres to July 18th!!!!
