The Dark Knight TDK suit v.s. BEGINS suit

I REALLY wish this thread would die.

To me, flat out the best Batman suit ever created for a Batman live action production was the 89 suit. As much as I loved the way the Batman Begins suit came together, all the awesome elements, it kinda looked wack and downright ****ed up in some scenes. I personally think in terms of design: IE (Batmobile, Batwing, Gotham, Batman costume, villain costumes) nobody can touch Burton. I am still a teenager so it cannot be said that I grew up with Batman 89', I wasn't even born yet when it was released. But it still amazes me that almost 20 years later we haven't had a suit, IMO, that even come close to the quality and awesomeness of Batman 89'. I like the TDK suit, but you can't beat the Burton suit.

quality  you need to look at the '89 suit again. I think the over all look was great, however that suit had some issues. The finish on it looked really muddy at times, it wasn't as smooth as other suits. The rubber looked waay too thick, and it looked like he wore Air Jordan's instead of boots. Oh yeah, it wasn't very mobile either. The begins and TDK suit in terms of quality are far superior. I wasn't a huge fan of the begins suit, yet I think the TDK suit is the greatest ever.

I'd rather have an updated 89 suit with modern materials.

i am not saying it's right or wrong- but I do belive that is what Nolan and Co. will do. he likes to explain the How's and Why's- pretty much so the audience leaves the theater without saying- "that movie was so unrealistic". I would say that most of the public wants to see movies where they can walk out of the movie theater and imagine a world where Batman can actually exist.

Again- this is what I believe Nolan is trying to accomplish.

but burton already accomplished this, though not to the degree that nolan has, and was VERY successful in his approach. nolan is strictly realism, while burton was realism mixed with fantasy. i think you need that fantasy angle to make it work. it worked for burton, it worked with spiderman, then i think nolan could make it work. haveing everything be realistic with no fantasy isnt fun, especially for a comic book movie. hopefully TDK will be a good mix, like burton did.

totally agreed. i am 20, and didnt see it in the theater or anything, but damnit that film is a classic no matter what the fanboys wanna say about the new one. and yeah, the begins suit looked pretty retarted in some scenes, like when hes talking to gordon in the narrows, damn that looked godawful, his faced was all squished.:csad: word of advice nolan: give bale some CHEEK SPACE!

I love the 89' suit, everything except the cowl looks amazing to me.

I'm so excited to see the new suit in action.

i liked the air jordans! i also thought the "muddy", rough, leathery look fit well with the dark knight bat-creature image he was trying to promote, and looked very cool. the leathery suit, especially the cape and cowl parts, looked like he was tryiong to look like a REAL bat rather then some guy in armored costume with bat ears. the only thing about the suit that was somewhat of an issue was that he could hardly move in it. but could you actually notice that in the film? not really. he was still kickass in the costume, and he didnt have to do silly ninja kicks and all that to look cool. but to each his own.

actually, i also really liked the Returns suit, if not more. i liked how that one was a bit sleeker and didnt have the fake muscles, and looked more like armor this time. the cowl also wasnt too loose (or too tight) this time around. i also liked that it wasnt a BLACK black, but rather a greyish type matte black, like they kinda did with the Begins suit.

has anyone else noticed that there were a few different mouthpieces used in the movie  In that scene with Flass it was wide and looked alot less tight than the others.

I noticed that last night!

'89 suit without the huge yellow logo.

'89 suit without the huge yellow logo.

AKA, the target. lol

the caped crusader lurking in the shadows hiding from criminals who have weapons and he has a bright yellow oval on his chest.
love it

Yeah, I know about the whole target thing with Punisher & Batman. That logo worked in '89, but I'd like to see an update with that suit and no yellow logo. Actually, I'd finally like to see a cloth-like suit.

We all say that we want to see cloth suit, but I don't know how well it would actually translate on to the screen in nolan's world.

Yeah, the Begins suit looked awkward in some places, IE talking to Gordon in the Narrows. And yes, it was a little too bulky. But even so, it looked so badass at times. Talking to Rachel in the Subway, in the rain interrogating Flass, the different poses on rooftops. I mean, it was like a dream come true to see Batman like that. And the cape...oh yes, the cape.

Up until then, in the previous Batman films, we had never seen a Batman like that. He was always just standing around acting badass, IE B89. He would just land in a spot or show up, kick some ass, say some lines and be gone. Then in Forver, we got to see him swing through the city a little bit, and jump off that building and land in his car.

But the way he looked and acted in Begins just felt more like BATMAN to me. The poses, the voice, the way he moved. I grew up with and worshipped B89, and I still worship the film to this day. But the suit, looking at it now, was too immobile. The poor guy barely moved in it, and you can really see that in the end when he gets his ass handed to him in the church.

That's why I hope that the TDK suit will be the best looking and moving suit ever to be seen on the big screen.

We're getting that! Jesus Christ! Have you even SEEN the picture of the TDK suit? It's fabric mixed in with armor JUST LIKE THE COMICS!

What?! That suit looks nothing like a comic suit and has less that 10% of fabric.

I'm not anywhere near good at math, but it's about 50 percent armor, 50 percent fabric.

MAYBE a little more armor. MAYBE.

Even the GLOVES are made of fabric. Below the wrist. The forearms are armored.

Changing the percentages from looking at the picture isn't going to make it look anymore like the comics.

It's got fabric and it's got armor.

The comic book costume has fabric and armor.

I noticed then, even as a child, that he couldn't move much in the suit. I agree with you on something for once, I like the leather look on Batman. I think to this day a Daredevil type suit would be awsome.

the more i look at the pictures...the more i lean towards the Begins look....but i like the TDK armor and cape
