I never had Kool-aide. How does it taste like ? Can you tell the difference in the Matrix you are living ?

Funny you should bring up the Matrix franchise. It's the same kool-aide people like you were drinking back then when those sequels hit.

I never watched The Matrix in theatres actually nor any of the sequels. I am wondering though, do you hate The Godfather part 1 and 2 because 3 wasn't as good as the previous two ?

Now you're just insulting Coppola with that metaphor.

And I'm fine with all 3 Godfather movies.

TDK is Goodfellas when you strip away the costumes and war paint. What is the Avengers when you take away the costumes, to quote Captain America.

That some might think this is truly depressing.

Fun,action/adventure film that treats it's heroes the way they have in the 4 color comics for the past 50 odd years?

My intention was to insult you by pointing out your extra-flawed logic. It didn't work but i really don't care anymore. Have Fun, if you can.

And it was you by sarcastically twisting my meaning. I got over it. You should try it as well.

You got over by calling names? More like you couldn't. Anyway, you told me whatever worked for me. And that did.

No, I'm comparing a great, fun action film to a self important, intelligence insulting, piss bag of a laughable attempt at crossing superheroes with a crime drama. Tdk and Killer Tomatoes have the crucial thing in common: they're horrible movies, even with the great disparity in production values.

And yet one is still considered by and large as a masterpiece and THE transcendent film of its genre, and likely one of the top 20 of its decade, five years on. And it probably will be in another 5 or 25 years. While the other is...fun. I enjoyed The Avengers. I also enjoyed Spider-Man and Speed.

I actually think Goodfellas is a bad comparison to Killer Tomatoes, not just because neither TDK or TA is exceedingly bad, but because Goodfellas and Tomatoes are wildly different genres. A better comparison to me would be Jurassic Park and Independence Day in the '90s or Die Hard and Commando in the '80s. I'm sure there were some who preferred the latters there too. They were after all big hits.

TDK, all the way, 100%.

Avengers is great fun. TDK is great cinema.

It's more depressing that you'd think I wasn't being facetious. Now then, I don't see the problem with trying to push the bounds of the superhero genre. It presents a challenge to upcoming directors to try the same. The only director who's attempted to do so is Shane Black, with Iron Man 3. It's a shame he won't be more involved in the MCU.

Like many others have said The Avengers is a great fun and entertaining comic book movie but The Dark Knight transcends the genre and offers all the above plus so much more.

I think some just are choosing TDK in order to appear intellectual for some inane reason. Honestly, the two films are masterpieces in their own right for different reasons.
