The Dark Knight TDK's Joker: The best film villain of all time?

Ledger's Joker is without a doubt, one of the greatest. I don't know if I could rank anyone above anyone else. I think when it comes to villains it really depends of the impact that villain had on you(or the person watching the film/TV show;etc). Personally, along with Ledger's Joker I love:

-Freddy Krueger(esp. for the 1st and 3rd Elm St. films)
-Hannibal Lecter
-the Wicked witch of the West
-Christopher Lee's Dracula

The Joker (The Dark Knight)
The Shark (Jaws)
Darth Vader (Star Wars Episodes IV-VI)
Keyser Soze (The Usual Suspects)
Hannibal Lecter (Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, and Red Dragon)
Lord Voldemort (Harry Potter Series)
Norman Bates (Psycho)
Max Cady (Cape Fear)
Hans Gruber (Die Hard)
Doctor Octopus (Spider-man 2)

I wouldn't say that Heat's Joker was the best, but he is certainly in an elite group -- and near the top -- if not THE top. It's close.

Scar from the Lion King was a great villain and he could sing, but as for Joker being the greatest villain of all time, I might have to disagree. I'm gonna wait till I see Bane, cause I think he's gonna be the greatest villain of all time

The best film villain ever in the history of cinema? That is a heck of a lot of history and a crap-load of villains to wade through throughout the history of movies. I'll say he is up there but 'the best' is tough.

I'd say out of all the batman movies in history this joker was definitely the greatest

The original '54 Godzilla was a great villain.

The best? No. Not even close. For me, all of that stupid lip-smaking was enough to disqualify him even from consideration.

The best list so far. Max Cady is underrated.

Max Cady is underrated. Particularly for when the original movie was made. To have an unabashed abuser of women and child predator like that take center stage must've been truly terrifying back then.

I know. That music they used in the movie was so creepy too. I liked the original Cady more than Deniro's.

You're both in New York. You should get together and wrassle over it. :o

Yes, a very racy proposition for the time and portrayed chillingly by Mitchum. I actually found him even creepier in 'Night Of The Hunter'.

I feel like he's by far and away the best comic book movie villain of all-time.

TDK's Joker has nothing on Darth Vader, good old Darth would just force choke that crazy clown.:o:oldrazz:

Darth Vader was a disgrace for both Jedi & Sith... Pretty much killed both sides and he died as well. :oldrazz:

At least Joker was chaotic evil that we love.:woot:

I agree wholeheartedly with that. If ANH and ESB were the only two Stat Wars movies, Vader would definitely be the best ever.

But ROTJ and ROTS simply humanized him way too much to be that frightening of a villain.
