How anyone can honestly say this movie looks good after seeing that teaser is beyond me. It looks like the a cheaply made, extremely cliched, poorly acted direct-to-video movie.

I understand that they couldn't show violence, but really...will it make it that much better?

Are you a Punisher fan? I see plenty signs that a good Punisher movie should have. I see how the movie COULD be good by the teaser. I don't see how it's bad knowing how edited the chosen scenes were, as a teaser.

I'm not a die-hard, but still a fan of the character. What impressed you about the teaser?

Considering some of the stupid **** in the story, it'll really need to rely itself on the violence.

No movie should rely on violence to make it good. Sure, violence can be plenty entertaining, but it can't be all there is. How much better will that spinning chandelier shot be if we see the bullets hitting people's faces?

On the other side of the fence, I really don't understand how you can be so positively sure it's going to suck so hard when you've seen one minute of footage.

Well, film is subjective for many people. Take The Curious Case of Benjamin Button teaser, it's only about a minute or so of footage, but I wanna see that movie a hell of a lot more than Punisher: War Zone at the moment because of how good the teaser was.

The thing is this teaser was just not good, maybe the full trailer will be better or even the red band, but as is it was an underwhelming teaser.

It's easier to like something you don't have expectations for.

Ok...here goes.

Im getting sick and tired of hearing all this damn negativity towards this movie. First of all, its a movie. Its not real. Its for entertainment, it is what it is. So you think it sucks, seeing a teaser and a few pics? Fine, good, dandy...dont go see it. Have something negative to say about it? Okay, keep it to yourself.

I love how people say this movie is cheesy, from only seeing a poster, some pics, and a teaser trailer...and at most an outdated first draft of a script. You people havent seen the movie yet...dont ruin the anticipation for the rest of us waiting patiently by saying all of your negative opinions. Here are the main things ive been reading that pisses me off...

Direct-to-DVD. Stop with this nonsense. Theres posters in the theatres, and a theatrical trailer, with the theatrical release date. Its being released to theatres, get over it.

Rays voice. Hes an actor, thats what they do for movies. The character is a gritty vigilante who has been through hell and back. Not to mention that the only two "punisher"-type voices weve heard so far was from Dolph and Jane. How are you to make judgements over his voice when weve only had 2 other actors attempt the same thing? To me Stevenson sounds more "Punisher" than the other two combined.

The neon lights. This is what was in the MAX comics. Lexi told us in the beginning this is what she was going for so you all should have expected this. If you dont like it, become a director and make a reboot with your name on it. Until then, leave it alone. This is what the director wanted.

The "look" (aka Rays outfit). Ok, this one is still a little outrageous in terms of how much i hear this all the time. The neck thing, i agree, is a little silly, but hey...you gotta protect the neck too. And as all of you say, i agree that i hope we see him in something other than the kevlar. But think of it this way...its a good thing he isnt in spandex with white gloves and boots.

The chandelier. This is not cliche. In the comics, the punisher is acrobatic. Simple as that. As far as realism goes, again, its a movie. Its supposed to be eyecatching. You want eyecatching unrealism thats still badass...check out the movie "equilibrium" with Christian Bale, one of my favorite movies. I bet you that the chandelier scene will be your favorite scene. How ironic that will be.

Steven Segal. Ok, he kind of looks like Steven Segal. But hearing this comparison over and over is ridiculous. I hate how one person made the comparason, and all the other haters followed. Ive noticed that people say "he looks like steven segal." because everyone else thinks he does.

I think this movie looks awesome. And any real punisher fan will agree. Because at the end of the day, its still going to just be a movie. And people need to learn that they are what they are. If you go in with no expectation, youll come out happy. Something i had to learn after seeing Spider-man 3. haha. I think Lexi will do The Punisher his real justice this time around. I can already tell there will be more "punisher" in this movie than weve seen in the last two movies combined. Well thats it for now...sorry if this is long, but im sure there are some people who agree with me. Either way, i had to speak up...it made me feel better, haha.

Agreed.

Although, I'm sure not every true Punisher fan will enjoy the movie. A lot will, a lot won't. We can't make everyone enjoy something. To each his own. I for one will have this movie sitting next to my '04 version, same way I have my MAX sitting next to my classic Punisher and Marvel Knights Punisher comics.

Slow your roll, I don't think this is a true Punisher adaptation at all, this is something else.

As for the acrobatic comment, I agree, Spidey gave Castle a compliment regarding his acrobatic finesse' I think a savvy unbiased writer could turn that into a super soldier serum sub-plot.

[EDIT]

And if you don't like that sub-plot, remember when Punisher needed to teem up with Ghost Rider in order to take down a giant freeway tank? He had to use Meth to infiltrate the gang, so maybe this could explain the chandelier shooting sequence. It works for me.

and don't hate me cuz I'm beautiful.

[EDIT]

Hate me cuz I'm a sexy man.
lllllllllllllllllllll

If something looks like **** people are gonna say it, so get over it. And I say regarding the lighting again, just because something works in a comic doesn't it's gonna work on screen.

The teaser was crap, deal with it.

Yeah, I probably should have added 'in my opinion', **** it.

I guess I'm not a true Punisher fan because I didn't like the teaser and I feel from the footage and pics I've seen that it looks like direct to dvd crap. anyone want to buy 20+ years of Punisher comics, statues, toys, clothing and posters? I'm not a real fan, so I shouldn't have these.

Thank you for admitting it. That's the first step. Now change your avatar to Batman and call it a day.

It's ridiculous to say that people who don't like the teaser aren't true Punisher fans. I'm sorry, but it's ridiculous. And an3ros's statement above about the Batman avatar is just as ridiculous. Since when has it become "cool" to say that anyone that has a negative opinion on anything is a Batman fan? Kable24 is obviously a huge Punisher fan and even HE thinks this movie looks like garbage. Maybe your idea of a "true fan" is a little skewed. True fans wouldn't accept their favorite character being a part of a piece of **** movie. Otherwise, Batman & Robin would have been a lot more popular.

Also, those that use this argument -- "Don't say negative things and ruin the movie for those of us who are patiently waiting and think its looks good" -- are idiots. Does that mean people can't say positive things about the teaser, because it's "just a teaser" and not enough of an indicator? Please. Spare me the BS and just accept that this teaser has gotten a poor/mixed reaction among the seven people that actually know this movie is even being released.

How can CASk8er87 say that you should go into a movie with no expectations, when he plainly stated that the movies "looks awesome"? You should ALWAYS go into a movie with expectations....expecting that the movie will be good. If you don't think a movie will be good, why see it?

This post = win.

dang we ain't allowed to have negative opinions about this direct to dvd style crap?

personally i like the teaser. it's not entirely what i expected in both good and bad ways, but saying the movie is going to suck based on the teaser is pretty much jumping the gun. you can hate the teaser, but how can you hate the movie if you haven't seen the movie? sure, the teaser is an indication of what the movie will be like, but then again, the teaser is intentionally packed with stuff that'll make it appealing to action movie junkies. that seems like the right direction to take after the borefest that 04 turned out to be. now, that's not for everybody and it seems to be the diving line around here, which is fine, everybody is entitled an opinion, even if they're dead wrong... it's just a little annoying when the same people keep saying the same ********.

This movie might be terrible, but Stevenson nailed the look and sound of the Punisher. Makes Tom Jane seem like a *****.
