It's not a shame, it's for the best. This franchise had 2 special movies, and then it became a cheap tag to sell to the mainstream public and way to sell action figures. Quality has become secondary to WB and the people involved, so there is no way Cameron would have the freedom to do what he wants with it even if he wanted to continue it. WB doesn't want R-rated tentpoles anymore
Cameron had it right, this series ends with 2. He ended his story, and that's what a true artists knows: when to end the story. Sadly, artists don't work on these anymore, and the franchise has suffered greatly from it.
I thought during T2:3D he was talking of a sequel. But really I wonder how it all truly went down. Do to personal problems possibly, it just never came down to it. Which sucks.
Terminator mythos has so much more that it could have done, just sadly we had two idiot writers that cared nothing for the original material, and greedy producers at Halaycon *not WB mind you* Just like T3 it was purely an independent film done by C2/Intermedia.
There are so many great things that could have been done with T3 and T4, and though I agree it sucks we got such subpar films.
I could only hope for a Superman Returns type thing, in the sense some one re-films T3 and T4 in a different light. But probably not.
My point is, Terminator had a lot more to offer, and it very easily could of, but we had a crew that owned the Terminator franchise that just cared nothing for it except to make money on it.
