Sci-Fi Terminator 1, 2, & 3: Review and Discussion Thread

The bathroom fight feels like a scene from a crappy generic super hero film or something. With robots as the hero and villain.

Not at all! That almost made me puke from the insanity of that post.

T3 and TS are comic books, in the first two movies if a Terminator ever got near one of the protagonists they were essentially dead. In TS the T-800 gets its hands on Connor plenty of times and just throws him aside, it even impales him, obviously shattering his spine and damaging his heart, but he survives.

Yes. I commend them for making the T-800 threatening again (though that wasn't too hard considering this is the first time since T1 it was a villain) But they took it way too far!

Definately, surviving multiple grenade blasts and only being knock backed by them once was ridiculous, then surviving lave being poored all over it and not even being damaged from it? Was just ridiculous.

I have a question.

Do I have to see the first Terminator or can I skip directly to Terminator 2: Judgment Day???

Just out of curiosity, did Arnold physically play T-800 or was it all visual effects???

You should watch the first. It would be very difficult to keep up with things if you don't. Plus the first is the best of the bunch IMO, and I think it's one of the best sci-fi movies ever made.

I finally watched T1, thought it was great but I'll decide which one I think is better, once I see T2.

why havent you watched T1 and T2 yet?

Long story.... I just got into the classic Sci-Fi and Action films.

I have really come to an age where I find these kind of films to be interesting.

Seeing Die Hard, Predator and Predator 2 picked my curiosity to see the first two Terminators.

Dude what? T1 is the best of the bunch.

 T1 is definately the best one, still such an awesome movie that has somehow aged less than T2 IMO.

Ahhh man T2 will always be my favourite. Mainly because of that bad ass truck vs crosser chase in the flood control duct thingys with the bad ass music.

One thing that always upset me, is that section of score is nowhere in the official soundtrack.

Make sure you see the Theatrical cut of T2. It's the one Cameron wants you to see.

I only watch the T2 theatrical cut.

I think it's JC's only theatrical cut that is better than his extended cut.

I like the extended cut of T2 better, I feel it just fleshes out the story more.

I haven't seen Salvation yet, but T3 in my opinion was almost pure crap, the only good part was the ending showing the bombs going off. It really shows how great of a filmmaker Cameron is since T3 follows the same basic formula, only does it much worse. Everyone cites the crane truck chase, I felt the chase was boring as hell, it had no tension. Watch that, then watch the truck chase in T2 and the chase getting out of the hospital, both have so much more tension and felt so much more dangerous for the heroes.

Thank you ^

T3 was a rehashed snoozefest. I live and die for action movies and even on that level it fails for me.

As for the extended cut connecting T1 to T2.. I assume you mean the whole dream sequence. It's really corny imo. And the whole slow mo run... it just gets repetitive. The second scene is more important, and more powerful without the one before it.

I really like the fanedit of T3. It's not perfect by any means, but makes the movie watchable and more sinister (like T1).

my opinion on T3 and TS

T3 - as rubbish as it was at least they showed the nuclear war. this definately serves as purpose as it means the francise HAS to move forwards now. no more chases, which was getting tiresome. the time bubble broken, no more terminators, oh, its fixed again :whatever:

TS -
far be it for me to tell mcg how to make movies but my problems with the film were as follows

a) you are trying to do too much in one movie.
if the movie is a trilogy then follow the 'star wars' formula
1. the enemy is in charge but you gain a small victory at the end
the terminators rule the earth, the humans are beaten but john conner rises from the ashes to claim one small victory over the machines

2. the bad guys win
bring the humans to the absolute brink

3. the good guys win
the humans win and the final scene is the t-800 getting sent back

b) too many nods to the past.
stop tipping your hat and make your own movie.

c) kyle reese and the t-800 should not have been in this movie
the terminators in this movie shoud have been crude and clunky only by the third movie should you see the t-800 and only then it should be for a single scene when he is sent back in time.

kyle reese should be a nobody as far as the termintors are concerned. how do the termintors know about him anyway. its a strecth that they know about john conner at this time because he isn't yet a leader of the resistance yet. do the termintors somehow have a two way communication phone with the past? the termintors send a termintor back to kill john conner beause he is the reason they lost, how do they know about kyle reese? he hasn't gone into the past yet?

this movie smacked of someone who wanted to do too much too quickly and whilst the movie is entertaining it's a soulless nod to the first two movies.

To be honest I have gone off that scene as you can easily tell it is the stunt man for 90% of it, he even gets multiple face shots!

No such problems in T1.
