Yeah, nevermind, I took the 4 day weekend numbers for some reason. Still, it only made $5.3M yesterday, so it might not even get to $20M.
i love how people say McG should do action movies. what the hell is the termiantor franchise? drama? romantic comedy? HAHAHAHAHAH
just because there are emotions and a some drama does not elevate it to anything more than an amazing action movie. people need to recognize what the terminator franchise really is.

i'm sorry, i can't agree with this at all. these "fanboys" need to grow up and realize that they don't mean jack to these movies.
was there a demand for an 11th star trek film? hell no. but the movie was awesome. previous many films were flops because it's not enough to gear to die-hard fans or relying only on. this one worked because it was geared towards the GA. transformers and TDK were not helped by "diehard" fans. it was successful because they were good films, with a good story. the Watchmen has a diehard following, didn't help did it.
these die-hard fans make up probably make up less than 1% of total gross, if that. and no, they have very little control over buzz. watchmen was one of the best adapted films of comic ever. he literally used the panels in place of storyboards.
Your guys overesimate qualitys ability to build hype so much its ridiculous.
Well to be fair, the francise has always been about more then just action. There was story and characterization. That's what sets it apart and made it iconic at least for the first two. I think the point is that if you want to hold an audience , who's seen every kind of stunt or cgi possible ,you need to have a good story along with it . It's not enough just to be a good action flick in terms of stunts and explosions. The director is crucial to be sure but if any director doesn't have a decent story it won't make much of a difference.
again, quality is a subjective term. TF fans did not like the movie and said it was horrible and such, but the GA thought it was a quality film.
its' not ridiculous. great movie may be unsuccessful, and crap movie might make money, but thinking a dedicated fanbase predicts the life or death of a film is ridiculous.

Well mojo has it's numbers up and unsurprisingly Salvation is off nearly 66% from last friday.http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=daily&id=terminatorsalvation.htm
It should do 15 to 17mil over the weekend, I'm thinking 16.6mil. A 61% drop. It's totally not reaching T3 now.

yea. it's an amazing action movie. but at the end of the day, it's still an action movie, not gone with the wind or the godfather.
people liked TF because it was relatable. if it was robot heavy as many fans wanted, they it would have been a full blown action movie. and it wasn't. there was a really good sotry there too that people dont' give bay credit for. society likes to pigeonhole everyone.
Well, i'd say Terminator was just a good action film . That's like saying the TDK was just a good comic book film. It was a good action film but it also had a good story . Neither film is Gone With the Wind or Godfather but then again those films are apples and oranges and I wouldn't compare Godfather to Gone with the Wind let alone Terminator to the LA Confidential . A good story comes in many different forms and can be a comedy, drama, or action film.
The point I was trying to make is there is a higher expectation more going into a Terminator film because of it's reputation for a good story. Is it fair? Maybe, maybe not , but I think that's how it is for this francise. Transformers never had that bar to jump before it was released.
Is true, Spider-Man 3 is hated by most fans but it was a huge box office success: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=spiderman3.htm

Sometimes it's a very good idea for the filmmakers NOT to listen to the fanbase. I think the trust should just lie in the filmmakers in trying to please themselves and not a hundred ideas from everywhere. Remember Daniel Craig as Bond? The fanbase was wrong in doubting him. Star Trek? Fanbase was wrong. Heath Ledger as Joker? Fanbase was wrong.
Fanbase was right. QoS is boring.

3. The reason why Terminator: Salvation is doing badly is because the interest in that franchise from the general public is more or less gone.
