I honestly believe if this is what Rise of the Machines really was it would be doing a lot better in the box office. Terminator 3 really didn't do the franchise any favors, in fact, I believe they waited too long to continue the story instead of striking while the iron was hot.

It should've went like this in my opinion Terminator 1, Terminator 2, this could've been Rise of the Machines, and the next one could've been Salvation.

Rise of the Machines could've ended with the same ending and have them fast forward to 2029.

T3 sucked and that hurt the franchise. I have friends that won't see this because of that movie.

T3 came out in 2003 right? If so then that's six years obviously and that's more than enough time for the audience to move on from it. But it definitely didn't help matters that it was made.

If you remove Rise of the Machines and replace it with Salvation instead it probably would've fared better. McG had good intentions with what he was going for but he probably should've consulted Cameron on how to depict the future, the machines, and maybe instead of doing 2018 maybe he should've just did a film that shows 2029 instead.

That way it could've ended with Skynet sending the T-800/T-1000 back in time and in return John sends Reese and a T-800 as well.

Eh whatever that doesn't make any sense. Terminator 3 was the movie that set up the stage for post-Judgement day stories. It wouldn't have made sense to skip. But it didn't make sense to make these two ****** sequels and the ****** TV series either.

I had a post all ready showing how closely the TS figures had been following those of Watchmen since Tuesday but the early Saturday number spoils that. I was expecting something like $7.4m rather than $6.5m. I still think that Watchmen is the best guide to how it will perform for the rest of its domestic run. Total somewhere in the $100m-$110m range, perhaps.

T3 was unnecesarry - if you were to make a future war story you would just need, what, two minutes at the most to show that judgment day happened anyway? It's not like its out of the question that it could have occurred given the events of T2 - that was a hopeful ending, not a definite one. That's what makes it so good.

T3 shows us the how but like people are saying in the other thread (about john becoming the leader of the resistance) - we already knew that. Or atleast we would've. so yeah i might be rambling right now its gettin late i better stop

I actually totally agree with that.

They needed to pick an interesting point of time to focus on the future war ... What better than the last few weeks?

The final battle with Skynet leading up to the time travel moments.

yea. it's an amazing action movie. but at the end of the day, it's still an action movie, not gone with the wind or the godfather.

people liked TF because it was relatable. if it was robot heavy as many fans wanted, they it would have been a full blown action movie. and it wasn't. there was a really good sotry there too that people dont' give bay credit for. society likes to pigeonhole everyone.

Agreed, I am not a big Bay fan and wasnt happy that he was directing TF, but he really well with the movie and as you said, managed to create an interesting story as well as the robot mayhem. Because Bay has a reputation people forget TF actually has a story to it.

DIRECTORS CUT!!!! DIRECTORS CUT!!!! DIRECTORS CUT!!!!

get this out on DVD asap and watch the money make itself back with a D.C. release and word of mouth

and this film needs it

The theatrical release is the director's cut. You must mean the extended edition.

That's not necessarily true. I don't know what the situation was on TS, but if the studio forces cuts for time, violence, etc., then the theatrical cut is no longer the entire vision of the director. If McG chose to make those cuts however, then the theatrical version is his cut.

Choppy editing due to it being cut down for time restraints definitely hurt this film (which I believe turned people off and helped partake in its bad word of mouth). If it wasn't obvious where certain scenes were taken out and the transition from certain scenes flowed smoother, it would have done better. I guarantee it, so yes, an EXTENDED CUT is what I meant to say, and releasing one with a handful of those deleted scenes placed back into the movie would generate good word of mouth and could quite possibly be the last saving grace of this franchise

EXTENDED CUT.....IT NEEDS ONE........IT NEEDS ONE ASAP!!!!

is there a way for fans to contact Warner Bros. and voice their suggestions?

i don't think that is even necesasry. T2 should be teh final chapter. the period. the end of the road. these movies could deal with the judgement day of the past. a prequel, not a sequel.

if T2 was the final chapter then John wouldn't exist. John NEEDS Judgement day

Cameron himself made that known when he allowed the line by Sarah at the end of T1 "If you don't send him back in time YOU COULD NEVER BE"

NO Judgement Day = No Time Travel

No Time Travel = No John Connor.............plain.....and....simple

even Cameron (everyone's Terminator GOD) f'd that all up

why does john need to exist? he is a product of judgement day. stop JD, good riddens, he's gone too

mean, yes, but if that's the only way to satisfy this, then so be it.

cameron said he made a complete story. there had to be a first time. and T2 was the last time.

john is the product of the past JD. the future JD is an "altered future". so john in theory would be a different person everytime anyways.

International numbers:
"Terminator Salvation" led the rest of the pack with $13 million, including Sony's $8.6 million at 673 in seven Asian market launches and another $4.4 million from the second frame in South Korea, which is handled by a local distrib. Sony takes "T4" into most major markets next weekend.

I agree that would be even better, but they wanted to drag this out I guess.

The terminator series could end with t2 if you want it to.

This movie has no legs, and will fade out fairly quickly.

I do not htink putting faith in a director's cut will save this movie that much as it already drags as it currently is seen.
