See, you seem to think we're talking about Storm the way Halle played her. The way she was written, any black actress would do. Any woman who could fill out a black leather bodysuit & stand pretty while lightning flashed around her, & that's what we got. They went w/Halle b/c of how she looked in the costume & little else. Her strongest non-combat moments were pretty much when she was arguing w/Logan. She wasn't made a leader, she displayed none of the strength she has in the comics. As insignificant as they made the character, they probably could've gotten Tyra or any number of untalented bimbos & gotten away with it. The movies were about Wolverine, Magneto & Xavier-in that order. Storm was just a supporting character. Now had they treated the character w/the same amount of respect that they gave Hugh, Halle would have never been under consideration. To me, ideally, Nona Gaye would've been perfect. But that's just me.

No one in the Xmen movies really did any Oscar winning performances!! That's my point! All you had to be was decent or good. Even Tyra can pull that off!

I seriously know that combination wouldn't work either....but I was responding to your saying that talent was more important than looks. It was just a lighthearted comment. Others saw the joke. Others know that I would not say that a 60 year old heavyset short white woman should play a tall physically fit young black woman.

Berry did a fine job IMO and Banks would have been a huge gamble, and an unnecessary one too. It seems like you want someone who's the spittin' image of what they look like in the comics and that's unrealistic. If you can get 80-85% of the way there that's fine.

I think Berry did an OK job too. Could someone else have portrayed Storm better....yes. Could someone else have looked more like the comic character....yes. But those were not my points. My point was....too many posters on here immediately put Berry down and call her a terrible actress (I think she is good...not great, not terrible...but good) and always shout that a "BETTER" actress should have gotten the part....but when I mention a "BETTER" actress....they then shout she doesn't look the part......so, I am saying....compromises are made all the time....you get an actress that looks alot like the part and that can halfway act....instead of finding a perfect looking match that can't act or a great actress that looks nothing like the part.

Peter Parker has never ever had the exact same look throughout the entire run of spider-man, no comic book character has.

2 points for American dream. When Martin and New York Undercover ran my thursdays. I remeber him from the bonnie & clyde episode. AND I'VE HAD NO PROBLEM w/ Terrance ever until I heard about him bein Rhodey...I'M RHODEY, Iron Man is my Spider-man, Batman. This threads issue brings all types of bad hollywood practice and black folks I think is at the core...but now I'm willing to not batch about it til later.

I am only a fan of the FF in general fan terms so only about 100% more qualified than the average viewer and I thought that casting was adequate-I will give it this. Aside from the Doom costume, this was the greatest Live Action Origin telling in ANY comic film. birth of a thread.
