Thanos or Galactus? Who's the ultimate villain?

he gets his ass handed to him by three celestials, and they can only do it when they're working as one giant devastator-style super-celestial. I'd say galactus' street cred remains firmly intact.

he's dead!

Galactus isn't dead and he killed one celestial, considering who the celestials are killing one before three have to tag team to take you down makes you a pretty damn badass.

I think people forget just how tough and powerful the celestials are. If anything the only stupid showing of power was that earthlings are able to even be noticed by them.

Anytime I find myself thinking the Celestials are portrayed kind of weak, I remember that they melted the Destroyer when nothing else has been able to even scratch it.

Oh he's dead alright. Remember that glimpse of the future we saw last year of Galactus' corpse?? This is how that happened.

Galactus gets weaker as he expends his energy.....

No such weakness has been shown with the Celestials....

I think they outlast the Big G!

I don't buy it, he's galactus. He was blown apart by magnus once and just reformed all pissed off a moment later. All those glimpses into the future things never really have turned out to be accurate, ever.

Sure looked like it....

But I think they out last Galactus in a fight,

Galactus does power down but I think that's true for pretty much anyone, or anything. You have so much energy and you build up so much energy over time. Galactus just has to actually eat to replenish, though he has in the past used that disadvantage against his foes by devouring something while he fought (how he kicked mephisto's ass).

But there's no indication that the Celestials power down. And even if they do, Galactus is still at a disadvantage in powering up. Galactus needs a planet to munch on. The Celestials??? They seem to be self-contained.

In Secret Wars 1 Galactus wanted to go to the Beyonder to take away his hunger for planets
Thanos wants to destroy to please his beloved lady
But some could still depend on Thanos to save galaxies and stuff, never Galactus

It's a difficult question, but I'll stick with Galactus as an answer for now
Stiltman owns both of em.
:funny:

Naaaa... Lady Stiltman you mean.
:lmao:

You guys won

So Galactus needed some help??

Thanos, definitely. And for the person who said that Galactus has killed more, nope. Thanos killed all life in another universe recently, so Thanos takes it bigtime.

And while Galactus feeds on planets, he's also fought for the preservation of the universe. The price that's paid to keep Galactus alive is enormous, but the good that comes from his continued existence is well worth the price.

Will there be a new Galactus?

A female??? Galactina?? LOL

All cosmic or non powered beings have a level of power and recuperation. That's been shown in fights. Some just rebuild so quickly it seems like they don't but basically the greater the feat the more it takes something out of you.

I'm agreeing galactus against many celestials equals him getting owned but against one? That plays out differently.

They rely on their tech to fuel them. It seems to be some real next level **** but if you can dent that or damage it they wouldn't last too long.

Galactus and Thanos?

<sigh>

The premiere villain in the Marvel Universe is Dr. Doom. Just like Spider-Man is the main hero.

No debates. No opinions. That's the way it is.

:doom: :doom: :doom:

So Galactus needed some help??
Yeah, he pledged for a cure for his hunger, didn't like what he does to survive

Cosmic level dude, scarier

It's like asking who's the better hero, Captain America or..someone else on the same level

Thanos isn't even on the level of Galactus. He's like Doom in the way he sometimes acquires power greater than his own. He always receives help from Death or cosmic items he steals.

He's not even as powerful as The Hulk without help. His own son ripped his heart out.

So "cosmic" is kinda relative.

:doom: :doom: :doom:

Thanos treats the likes of Thor, Hulk and even Silver Surfer like little *****es, even without prep or technology.

He's basically stood there and took a beating off a Warriors Madness, Power Gem wielding Thor with no more than a slight nose bleed as the after effects. Doom can't hang on that level without prep or tech.

And Drax was made to kill Thanos. That was his thing.

....and yet they were both defeated by Squirrel Girl.

Thanos wasn't souped up at the time by Death in those fights mentioned above?

So what's the criteria here? At the beginning of the thread it said "villainous". Now we're talking power level?

Whichever it is, Thanos comes in a distant 5th or 6th in villainy.

Thanos : Let's kill half the population of the universe.

Annihilus : Eff that! Let's kill them all!

As for Power.... Galactus leaves him in the dust.

And for the record... Doom can hang with the likes of Hulk, Thor, and The Surfer as well. He's constantly manipulated the Hulk through tech or talk to work for him.

His tech... his forcefield really... can hang with Thor all day. At least to a stalemate.

And he drains the powers of the Silver Surfer whenever he needs too.

Let's not forget that Doom has had powerups galore over the years. He's lived millions of years learning dark arts from the Master. Years of study with Morgan Le Fey. His magic almost landed him the Master of Mystic Arts title. Twice!

Prep-time is not a disadvantage when you're a villain. Only heroes like Batman have to go back after defeat to come up with prep-time. Villain's prep-time is anticipatory.

Now did he lose those battles in the end? Yes. Cause if the heroes don't win we won't have any more comic books.

:doom: :doom: :doom:

Same could be said of any villain really. They lose because they are villains, that's pretty much it.

But Thanos is like Doom x 10. I mean Doom is still awesome, but he's not quite on the same level of Thanos. This is a guy who beats the Surfer to within a inch of his life with a few punches and can hang with a bloodlusted Odin for a short time. Thanos obviously respects Doom though because IIRC in The End storyline he had Doom under surveillence 24/7 because he knows he's a threat.

Doom has some impressive prep and tech feats. But draining the likes of Surfer's power is below someone like Thanos, who treats Surfer like an ant and is uninterested in the Power Cosmic.

I think my favourite Doom feat of all time is no selling Purple Man's attempt at mind controlling him through sheer willpower.

In villainy too, Doom loses. The Doc wants to kill Reed Richards and rule the Earth. Thanos wants to straight up destroy.
