Infinity War "That Up There... That's The Endgame." - The Robert Downey, Jr. / Iron Man Thread

That's because Stan Winston designed the first Iron Man suits, if I'm not wrong? Stan Winston was a legend.

Stan Winston Studios did create the suits yeah. I was actually watching the ''I Am Iron Man'' documentary today and it was so great to look back and see them all so giddy about making the first movie.

How will Tony deal with not being the smartest person anymore, but an anachronism compared to Wakanda?

How is this thread only 3 pages long? :O
What if Iron Man had a mind set kind of like he did in Civil War 2? He's always been a futurist, but in this case maybe he has actually seen the future. (Like in Age of Ultron where he sees all the Avengers dead.) This could be what motivates him. Does anyone think that the age of Ultron was more than just Wanda playing tricks on Tony? Like, maybe he actually saw the future? I guess it was already motivation for him in Ultron, so that may be redundant.

Gotta remember what Tony was able to build with a box of scraps in a cave. If he was lucky enough to be in the possession of vibranium like Wakanda, I feel like he'd one up what they've done.

Hopefully we can find out what he'd do with it.

Hope we see Stark unleash all his firepower at some stage.

So Hot Toys revealed that the Iron Man suit we've seen in the trailers is the Mark 50.

So the last armor we saw on him was Mark 47 in Spider-Man: Homecoming, I wonder if that means that this one is Mark 48:

And the new Hulkbuster is Mark 49?

I agree. The suits have been kind of lacking starting with Iron Man 3. There were a few good designs here and there (some of the Iron Legion, Hulkbuster, the Mk 46 from Civil War) but they don't have the weight that the first seven or so armors had. The one I've disliked the most out of the recent armors was the Mk 45 from Age of Ultron. It just looks like the CGI is unfinished, but I guess in a film with two other armors, one of which being the Hulkbuster, as well as multiple variations of Ultron and not to mention one CGI Hulk, one of them was bound to get the short end of the stick.

Idk...I dug the Civil War suit, and I'm digging the new IW suit as well. I like the random joint lights for some reason, and I do like the more stream lined version they're using in IW. I just don't like the chest symbols. I'm a fan of the plain old circle, but I like the trapezoid they're using way better than the triangle. I ****ing hate the triangle, and I have no idea why. I do agree that the more practical suit of the first one looks the best. I remember being ABSOLUTELY floored when that first batch of pics came out. Every little thing I see though seems to support the whole "Tony loses an arm" argument. Marvel REALLY likes removing people's appendages. :D

It might just be the lighting or whatever, but I actually like the look of Tony's new suit.

Reed Richards in Wakanda? Because he's the only one that has a claim to being smarter than Tony.

Yeah I wasn't feeling that armour at first, but damn. I'm sold.

I love how the wings look. From the toys they looked so small, but now that we have a better look at them they are perfect IMO. Can't wait to see what it will look like on the big screen when he's flying through space.

I'm digging the new suit. Looks like a real threat. Ik it's gonna do some damage before Thanos embarrasses him in that one scene.

He's just sort of "generic sci-fi mech suit man" by this point.

Guess some people love it, but ehh. Not that the Favreau stuff was "realistic" or anything, but I could buy into it.

Really hoping this one's alien of some sort, some kind of assistance from the Guardians or some acquaintance or Thor or whatever. It's just lost all of that visceral "tinkerer cooked this up in a workshop - a hell of a high-end workshop, but a workshop nonetheless" aspect the earlier ones have. Just don't dig it.

It's another thing if it's some Asgardian or Guardians hybrid (even Wakandan assistance would temper it some and be better) with Tony's tech though, that'd make it easier to get your head around.

I dig it, but what in the holy hell are the wings for?!

Space travel and extra boost. As for suit. This is Tony Stark guys. The man who created Ultron. The man who made Extremis. He does all of this in the comics. Why is is suddenly super hard to believe he can do it in the movies.

Because the early movies played up the grounded thing more than a lot of the comics, that's why.

Of course it's not a huge deal, and the movies have been moving in a much more crazy sci-fi direction in recent phases anyway. Just personal preference I guess, keep Tony a little more "military tech +20% fictional aspects" rather than go all-out Guardians with it.

Iron Man is fighting a giant purple space alien in this movie. This is Infinity War. The Iron Man suit from 1 and 2 are not going to ****ing cut it.

I miss the “weight” of actual prop suits.

This looks more believable than the mark 50. Yeah I know we saw some practical suit set pics awhile back.

I guess from a movie point of view technology has advanced a lot. Tony is using cutting edge nano technology now. The armor is almost like super thin skin

Since RDJ is out after Avengers 4 we probably won’t see the armors in the movies advance to this level
