Comics The '07 X-Event: Endangered Species, Messiah Complex, & Disassembled

Eh, in all honesty his character was the same way back before the writers started the 15 or so year Gambit/Rogue angst saga. His original apperances were a lot of fun to read, and one of the main reasons I became a fan.

I haven't read any original appearances, although I've done a bit of research and read about them. They sounded fantastic, I'd love to read those issues

Ah, the joys of neutering characters and turning them into whiny/angsty hearthrobs. All that was missing was the eyeliner and a time machine so they could grab some f****n Simple Plan/Good Charlotte CDs from the future.

*shudders*

Eh. Gambit has too many fans for Marvel to keep him on the dark side for long. They've been peppered with emails and letter since they turned him into a Horseman and put him into limbo.

Besides, they've already said he's not going back into limbo post-crossover... and they say two of Sinister's flunkies are turning... So the signs are pointing to Gambit coming back into the fold eventually.
well after the stuff thats went down, I dont see why Gambit would want to go back to the X-men, nor do I see why they would accept him back. I much prefer him in the place he is at right now

As far as him coming back bc he has fans, well Marvel doesnt give a damn about that, bc Jean Grey would have been back full time by now and her fan base is huge and has been pestering Marvel for years now about that one

Well Carey's already said he isn't going into limbo after MC, and that they'll likely address something about his heritage in 08, so its likely he will have to be on a team to do that, and adjectiveless seems to be the best place.

Technically Gambit only wound up with Sinister because he was stupid enough to think that he could beat Apocalypse's brain-washing. So when it all clicks again he'll likely turn.

And the team has accepted mass murderers in the past, so as long as Gambit spins the "I was brainwashed" they really can't say no. It's be quite hypocritical.

The X Men are always going to have shady members around on the team. There's no way around it. I'd just rather they be actual X Men like Gambit rather than Sabes and Mystique, and it'd make more sense.

Does anyone else wish for Jean Grey to be back in full force during Messiah CompleX? It wouldn't feel right without her - and I just really want her back.

While there are plenty who would love to see Jean Grey come back, very few would want to see her at "full force."

Jean Grey's powers are what keep her dead by Marvel standards.

Besides, Messiah Complex is supposed to be about the X-Men rallying together to do whatever they're going to do. It'd be kind of boring to have the Phoenix suddenly show up and save the day.

Yeah, what iam said. Plotkillers galore will just ruin everything. There's a build up to this, having her show up and burn what doesn't work will just make everything so anti-climactic.

I don't care if it doesn't feel right without her in the X-Men. She carries a lot of excess power for a proper and suspenseful storyline. The current X-Men team (3 of them) and handle this with more drama and suspense.

You mean 'do everythng'. OMG, Phoenix Work ROXOR!!!!! :csad:

I never said I wanted Gambit in limbo. I just want him to stay the way he is right now, shady and not necesarily on the side of good. He can still appear in the titles without actually joining up full time with the X-men again. I wouldnt mind seeing him having a role in the book much like Quicksilver has in X-factor. He isnt on the team but defiently has his own agenda and appears regularly

from your lips to Marvel's ears. Jean should have been back full time by now. The wait is painful

You know, I still don't buy that Cable is dead. I mean that is his base and he can't "body slide" out?

There wasn't enough power left, and he used what was left to bodyslide Deadpool off the island with some precious cargo.

Is that from the Cable/Deadpool issue? Dont get that so thanks for the info. So you think Cable is a gonner? It just seems so.....simple to get rid of him like that. I mean he went toe to toe with Apocalyse...and Gambit and Sunfire kill him?!? I just dont buy it.

And for the record....I want Jean Grey-Summers back!!!!

Okay, when I said "full force" I didn't mean "crazy-ass phoenix jean burning things", i mean't "Jean who's been a part of the X-Men for 40 years and has compassion and beauty and is sometimes weak but pulls through and always triumphs."

Therein lies the problem. Jean needs to be "human" again if she makes a return to the comics. That being she has limits, isn't automatically attached to Scott or Logan, and not as the uber-Mary Sue.

I think she has never really been ATTACHED to Logan, its just the attraction has always been there. I agree though, I hope she comes back (someday) and is not tied down to Scott. #1) He does not deserve her #2) She really is a cool character, thats why I enjoy X-Men: First Class so much.

IA. There is no attachment to Logan. Scott yes, but not Wolverine

Exactly. Jean's not attached to Wolverine.

...Wolverine is attached to Jean, like a stupid little feral lovesick puppy.

It's all in how you word it, folks!

Yeah, I guess "connected" would have been a better word. My point was that if Jean comes back they need to find a way to just ditch the whole Logan/Jean thing, for good. It's OLD.

and Ditch the whole Phoenix thing as well...let somebody else...PREFERABLY no other X-person. deal with the fire bird
