Comics The '07 X-Event: Endangered Species, Messiah Complex, & Disassembled

I am excited to see what they have come up with......You know Logan would be the last one standing, that shouldnt be a shock to anyone.

I still hope it ends up with either Rogue or Kitty being pregnant....that would be so cool. :yay:

Hell, it doesn't even have to do with any kind of battle. It could easily be that his healing factor just kept him alive longer than any of the others and they died from age. Nothing dramatic like IGN is apparently jumping to conclusions over, which they do all the time. There's no way they're gonna off half of one of their biggest money makers.

^Agree. No way. Might be just one of those "could be" futures in the comic. I am looking forward to it in June though. Kinda sad we will get this one shot and issue #200 before the next Astonishing though......

Agreed.

I hate having her in the exiles. She is going no where, shes practically in limbo.

I want her on a main team in the 616 too.
Love Betsy, but even she isnt enough to make me read that book. She's pretty much like dead to me until she reenters 616. If Claremont wanted her so bad, why not just add her to New Excalibur? Now that I would have liked and she has ties to the team and would fit in well

Uh, I'd imagine that it's just a could be/hypothetical issue, considering some of the characters featured as dead are slated to be around for quite some time...

And as for the whole Wolverine thing... I just get upset that he's depicted as the unstoppable, unkillable, mega hero of Marvel. It's gets ****ing old when they constantly force that down our throats. I mean, if they do some one-shot where he's the last one left they might as well just reprint Days of Futures Past...

They'll have to change part of the ending though, since getting blasted down to a skeleton won't stop him anymore. :whatever:

with the exception of Wolverine, Mystique, Sabretooth, Apocalypse, etc.... lol

*sigh*

1 - There aren't that many with the immortal thingy going on.

2 - I thought it was obvious I was refering to mutants such as, oh, I dunno, the ones with their names on the tombstones. :woot:

Hmm. I'm going to count all the immortal mutants and see how manyI come up with off the top of my head.

Wolverine
Sinister
Apocalypse
Selene
Cannonball
Mystique
Sabertooth
Exodus
Shadow King
Gambit (using the temporal aspect of his full potential like the Witness does)
Iceman (he may be able to reverse his aging by going to ice form)
Jean
Chandra
Darwin
Scalphunter (the original)

relax, I was just joking, hence the "lol" put in

Gambit (using the temporal aspect of his full potential like the Witness does)
Gambit? Where did you get this from? The witness was old. He wasnt from that far in the future. Maybe like 40-50 years or so and just about what Gambit would be at the time. He aged naturally

The Witness can traverse dimensions, travel through time, and exist at all points in time simultaneously, etc. He's pretty much as powerful as the New Son (who is another immortal candidate since he's living energy and can exist *outside* of the flow of Time) but his powers focus more on the spatial/temporal aspect of Gambit's power than the "blows ***** up" aspect.

If they kill almost half the Astonishing team I'm done with X-men. I usually never come down this hard on comics-- I'm usually saying "give the writers a chance, let the story tell itself" but X-men has been wholely dissapointing (to me). I like Astonishing whenever it manages to ship but that's ending soon (if you count the issues, if you count time maybe by the year's end?). Bendis will probably be put on AXM (I hope that's just me making a bad joke). If Cyclops and Beast and Kitty are gone then I really don't care. X-men and Uncanny haven't been that great but Astonishing was keeping me in the universe. If they mess that up I have no reason to stay. I'll finally find the excuse I've been needing to go back and get a whole bunch of Batman trades.

Considering Bendis hasn't shown an interest in the X-Men titles, and never has, I seriously doubt him taking on AXM. Brian K. Vaughan? Much more likely choice.

People overrate Gambit so much it's annoying. And can anyone fill me in why Cannonball is immortal?

I hope not. I was seriously unimpressed with Vaughan's Ultimate X-men run.

1: It's not really overrating. New Sun and the Witness have demonstrated tremendous power more than once. Ranking them as demi-gods is an accurate rating.

2: Cannonball is an external which is basically Marvel ripping off of Highlander ("There can only be one!"). It's possible they dropped the storyline due to lawsuits, though so it might not count.

I've read about that Gambit, it was impressive and totally unexpected from him, the problem is that no one is using him to develop this part of him. I'm just annoyed that people are left guessing with this since it has been established he has a lot of potential.

I agree. Things like that should definitely be expounded upon once introduced or it just feels empty and somewhat off. Apart from a villain using his powers to open a dimensional aperture, and maybe the precog thing when he was blind, Gambit's potential hasn't really been explored. Carey did talk a little about that point a bit when he was talking about Gambit over on his blog, so it may end up being explored if gambit ends up in his roster after the crossover.

Eh. Never fails to crack me up.

But to stir back on topic, odds are that shot of Wolvie of the graveyard is in the distant future.

The "Reloaded" concept doesn't quite work if you kill 99% of an universe's most known/popular characters. :woot:
