Comics The '07 X-Event: Endangered Species, Messiah Complex, & Disassembled

I don't see it(Bishop's baby killing) as a betrayal of the X-Men. Yes, he averted the deaths of the X-Men by stopping the traitor(Xavier)...however...this event still haunts him as well. he knew it was still coming.

Perhaps it effects him more because it was directly responsible for his upbringing. Its personal to him and he chose not to divulge this aspect of his past to the X-men it was something that he and he alone had to do something about.

I'm guessing he just didn't know about Wanda and her 'no more mutants' creed and that the subsequent birth of baby-doom-bringer would attract the attention that it has?

Whoa now. Spoken like someone struck by Bishop hero worship.

I kid, I kid. :woot:

While I understand Bishop's "The ends justify the means" standpoint, I'm a bit disappointed that he didn't at the very least make clear what happened for everyone else.

We're talking about a guy who came from an alternate timeline. Or at least, that's what I thought Marvel established (I wish they'd never gotten into time travel. It really ****s up continuity...).

You'd think someone from an alternate timeline (who was already wrong once, about the X-Traitor) would be wise enough to brief everyone on what happened in his time, so the X-Men could figure out what the hell was going on.

He'd better have a dammed good reason... Though since he's a fictional character, I'm going to blame the writers if he doesn't.

Bishop does what he thinks is best for the mutant kind, just like Cable does, they just choose different paths, and the X-Men have to get all the facts from the two of them before they can make the best decision, some people think Scott should have left Cable be and focused on Bishop because he was the traitor, but I think leaving out Cable when he was obviously also an important part to this mutant baby mystery was not a right thing to do.

Cable didn't tell what he had in mind to the X-Men as well, he just grabbed the baby and run, I think Cable and Bishop are both the type of men who would rather be the one to get the job done, they all grew up in a world where you should trust/rely on only yourself, after all.

This is true.

what im not getting is what the heck did mystique do to sinister? there's no way he's dead because he's a.) way too powerful for mystique to kill and b.) way too awesome a villain to get rid of. plus he's barely done anything in this crossover. i was waitin for a good ol' cyclops vs. sinister showdown.

Ha, Cyclops is too busy barking orders from inside the mansion

I seriously doubt he's dead for the reasons you just stated. Maybe he's just paralyzed or something.

But at the same time, Cable's actions aren't nearly as radical as Bishop's. He has the baby, but he's not trying to kill it.

That, and Cable isn't pretending to be allied with the X-Men at the moment. He's made his choice clear. Bishop, meanwhile, is lurking in the shadows.

Couple that with the fact that Bishop has been wrong about the future before... and you don't give Lucas much of an excuse.

It's true that Bishop gave the X-Men warning before about a traitor. That was something to do as an adult.

But this is a lingering haunt from his childhood - an anger and grudge carried from all those years ago. That changes it. That's something different. And with it, of course, comes a child's hope that if the past can be changed, as with Xavier the traitor, then perhaps other things, darker things, things he's actually afraid of or outright hates and possibly keeps as a repressed memory, can change as well.

Remember back to the Endangered Species one-shot. He told Sam and Bobby that if he'd known anything like M-Day could possibly happen, he'd have warned them about it. This goes back a long way, folks. M-Day is, of course, "the great darkness" worded in this issue.

Bishop's been waiting for it. Why alert the X-Men to something they won't do anything about? They promise to make sure the baby doesn't go apesht and it happens anyway. Bishop's not exactly the lightest guy about. No, better for him to sneak and do the job himself, so nobody's the wiser, and everyone lives happily ever after. That, what he's done, makes the most sense. But I bet he didn't bet on Cable being in the picture.

And what about Cable? Cable tells Xavier just how dark everything is without the baby. What's that mean, exactly? Is he talking about the future he came from? Has he somehow glimpsed another future, one the baby makes possible?

Or are all these alternate futures being consolidated into one line, and if so, then how, indeed, is the baby damnation as far as Bishop is concerned, and a savior as far as Cable's concerned?

This issue was phenomenal. I'm depressed I had to read it late.

Oh, and Gambit and Mystique are so in cahoots. And have been for awhile, I bet. And Rogue's at the center of it, or the cause of it.

Yeah, I agree with this, or perhaps it was just a clone? Sinister loves his clones.... :p

It had crossed my mind that pershpas they had been in cahoots since before he became Death. I mean, she was there at the house when that happened. Maybe she said something that made him feel he had no choice but to do what he did, like he did it for Rogue in some strange way. I dunno.. I was just thinkin'....

I f I were Mystique I'd so do Gambit.... heck I'd do pretty much every X-Man :D

Jjajajjajajaja

IT'S THE BLOODY ALCOHOL, it unhibits me :p and c'mon
remy???? he's so bloody hotttttttttttttttttttttttttttt and so is PIOTR :D

You need to be hosed down

I mean that in the most PG-13 way possible :o
Awesme avvy. If I were younger, and a comic book character, i would so be Bishop's younger self's friend. (Because he's a cutey.:o)

In regards to Gambit and Mystique...I think it's pretty obvious that they're working together. I went back and checked out X-men #204 and Mystique makes a comment to Gambit saying

"We've got a long way to Go, Gambit. And a lot of blood to wade through yet. Pace yourself. And keep an open mind..while the pieces fall into place".

So I mean for whatever reason, it looks like Gambit and Mystique are in this together. Got to say, I actually like that idea a whole lot.

Noooo. Blue actually pulled it off.

And the crossover *still* is in X-Force pimping mode.

Still a good read, but damnit.

This is the best event we've had in a while. I like it a lot more than House of Meh. :p

And Civil War if you ask me. I just couldn't get into it, not like this.

It's probably because this crossover has more of the characters that I care about in it. Gambit is my top fave. :D

I gotta wait till I read the ending before I can officially say I like this more than Civil War.

CW was great until the ending fizzled.

MC is great so far, and as long as it doesn't dissappoint at the end, then it could very well be the best Comic crossover in years like everyone has been hyping.
