The 1st half, or the 2nd half. Which did you enjoy more?

I liked the 1st half a lot, but more so because it gave way to the 2nd half precisely when it did. By the time the Smallville battle began, I was ready for frenetic action. So I guess, both halves for me.

First half by far. The second half didn't exactly bore me but neither was it exciting or emotionally engaging to me. It really felt kind if empty, and I think that's the reason many critics thought it was soulless - the second half beats you in the head so relentlessly that I almost forgot about the emotional character moments in the first half. Those moments should have been more evenly distributed throughout the film. Instead it's like 2 different movies within the same one, cut so cleanly right in the middle.

I think both halves have their moments. I'll give it to the 2nd half just for the Superman/Zod fight at the end.

As we all should be. Because, after all, your wife is amazing:

God I love that scene. The zoom-out is awesome hahaha

That's true, to an extent. The second half may APPEAR to be a mindless action superhero movie, but when you think about it, part 2 resolves part 1 by showing Clark abandoning his sense of isolation, and joining up with the military to protect Earth. There's a lot of character to the second half, but it's subtle. A good example is Superman swallowing nervously, having never fought before. Also when he breaks down Zod and Foara's masks, he is now the bully, but a bully on behalf of an Earth that wouldn't accept him. I'll agree with the people who say that the Metropolis fight just dragged on, though.

I have to see it one last time in theaters (3rd time) to decide. Because if I answer now, I'd say I like the whole thing! From the flashbacks, to Supes vs. Zod, to Krypton....

Right after the smallville battle, it's all pretty much down hill for me. I really like the film, despite its MAJOR problems with many things. Go figure.

I preferred the 2nd half. More Henry more Henry speaking and more Henry in action. I get where people are getting their editing complaints, the first half seemed to jump around too much while the second half was more fluid.

Second half for me, loved both halves especially Krypton in the first half but the second half was what id been waiting to see for years, Superman let loose in live action and also the ending of this film is the greatest in CBM history.

Really touch choice, I love both sections. I'd say slight slight edge to 1st half, especially Krypton.

That world that Snyder created was one of the best worlds I've ever seen in all of sci-fi movies and television. I loved that world so much (and I went int expecting to hate the Krypton part - as it's usually the dullest portion of the Superman origin) but Snyder really blew my socks off with that world. I could have easily spent an entire hour exploring Krypton and its' history.

In fact, I want a Krypton prequel movie.

Second half, when it feels like a full-fledged Superman experience.

There's a drop in interest for me between Krypton and the Battle of Smallville. Nothing major, but it's felt.

I'd watch a movie with Jor-El and Lara as the main characters. Definitely.

Smallville sequence is my favorite part so I guess 2nd half by association. 1st half was way to choppy for me.

Me too. Having a certain somebody get sucked in the PZ would eliminate the need for a 10+ minute fight and allow for more fleshing out of characters (Lois, daily planet, etc).

Instead, we get this climax that initially makes Superman look careless and puts him in a situation where he has to take a life.

The fight with Zod was actually 5 minutes long, but whatever.

1st half easily. It contained most of my favorite scenes. Krypton, oil rig, the Smallville flashbacks, Zod's transmission, military surrender, Superman and Lois awaiting the Black Zero dropship, Superman saving Lois from the escape pod crash.

It was also the messiest side of the film. It suffers a bit once Clark enters the scout ship right up until he meets up with his adopted mother again, where it gets on track again. There's some good scenes within that, but it's so fractured.

The second half is what makes the film so uneven. The moment the punches start flying the film loses itself a bit.

Well the whole freakin' movie is amazing. I do however like the set up. Young Clark struggleing to learn how to contol his power. The whole Krypton sceen. Good stuff!

Both. first half for the story focused scenes and the second half for the action.
