@Drizzle you’re the expert, did you like Saturday Night, the SNL movie?

It’s on Netflix, it might be my sober up Sunday movie lol.

I loved it but I'm a fan of the show so I'm biased. I wouldn't call it Oscar-worthy but it's a fun watch even if you're just a casual SNL viewer.

“Casual” is the perfect word for that movie, imo. It does nothing of note, but makes for a perfectly good time if you’re familiar with the real life personalities involved.

AMC knows what's up or more accurate Netflix probably wants you going to their service and not a theater if you want to see it but I'll give it to AMC anyway

What's interesting is I'm pretty sure Maestro was screened in theaters for this same event last year, as well as Netflix's other BP contenders before that.

Having just seen Nickel Boys... I'm actually shocked this didn't get more nominations. Absolutely a travesty.

What a movie. Loved it more than The Brutalist.
Perhaps I jumped the gun and wrapped up my 2024 list too soon.

I am still doing my 2024 list for anything that's a 2024 movie. I aint ranking those in with the 2025 stuff even if I saw it in 2025.

I am doing that AMC day 1 thing on the 22nd for marathon. I have seen 3 of the 4 they had on 3/1 for part 2, so I will just find another way to watch The Brutalist. But at least I will get 75% of the Nominees down in 1 day

Yeah but oscar worthy tho?

Breh, I had some bald bastah on here come at me cause I felt her delivery in that ‘’speech’’ moment did nothing for me. Said person then went onto invalidate my take cause them critics liked that scene. Lawd.

Wait someone cast Zoe as Nina Simone. Famous contralto I Put a Spell on You Nina Simone?

Yes. Her family was against the casting. Even used a fake nose and everything. I think it came out the same year as that awful Grace of Monaco biopic with Nicole Kidman. She also used a fake nose for that. Lol and no disrespect to miss Kidman, but her beauty falls way too short for Grace Kelly. Dreadful movies.

Not watching Emilia Perez.
Others can torture themselves by watching it privately.

Caught The Brutalist in IMAX over the weekend, and was honestly left a little cold. On a technical level, it's truly breathtaking, with some great performances. But I just don't know how I feel about the narrative. I get what Corbet's vision is for the shift between the acts, but it didn't fully work for me. It's tough, because the more the film introduces its main themes and develops the plot, the more surreal and abstract it becomes, ultimately cutting off when things finally get moving.

Incredible cinematography and score, but for me not the generational masterpiece so many have called it. Would definitely rather it win over Emilia Perez though.

I somewhat felt the same. I kinda wish the hype behind The Brutalist went behind something like Nickel Boys instead.

What do you mean? You don't want a movie that used AI and stars a racist to win? :o

Seeing Nickel Boys tomorrow; really hoping that one lives up to the hype.
