"The action was great, but the plot sucked!, Movies with the Reverse

I don't think Minority Report is an action film per se. It's a chase film. Spielberg didn't set out to make an action extravaganza, from what I can tell. There isn't all that much action, but what there is is very cool. Am I the only one who feels the film reaches it's zenith at the Leo Crow murder scene, and apart from Danny's final moments, becomes underwhelming after that?

This is one my favorite Spielberg movies ever, but the ending always kind of disappointed me.

I don't think it is an action movie either but the action scenes I didn't like. As for it lacking a suspense after the murder scene...yeah. That is one very disappointing Spielberg movies like A.I. was.

I edited the thread title so people would be less confused.

Constantine is another with good plot and bad action sequences, if any at all.

I'm glad. I keep forgetting that not everyone thoroughly reads opening posts.
The only time I sorta understand it is if there's a lot of pages on the topic already, but here there was only like 2-3 pages; It's sad that people can't read like 30 posts before posting.

Spider-man and Batman Begins are definitely on this list for me. I liked the origin of Peter Parker and Bruce Wayne but once they become Spider-man and Batman their movies go downhill and it's mainly because of the action sequences.

Spider-man's action sequences with The Goblin were mostly stationary and had boring fist fights. I had pictured these guys raging through the city with Spidey showing his agility and speed and the Goblin showing off his weaponry (ala Peter vs. Harry in SM3). Instead we get Spider-man vs. Goblin in a burning building...yippee. The Time Square battle had a Hollywood backdrop feel and never really moves anywhere either. The end battle is basically the same...another fist fight in a stationary location.

Batman Begins had action that was just edited poorly, period. It's like Nolan went to the Michael Bay school of editing or something. He got a little better with framing and editing in TDK but the convoy chase still had a Michael Bay feel to it. There was nothing cohesive about that scene whatsoever.

I tend to agree about BB. But the chase scene was epic, with that music and the perplexed look on the faces of the cops, it's one of my favourite chase scenes ever. I mean, you've got a frickin tank jumping from rooftop to rooftop, and that bit where it goes into stealth mode and the music drops and then swells as it reappears is just EPIC!!

Iron Man.

Not that the plot was anything special, but I liked the film yet really hated the action. There was only one action scene I liked in it: the first time he wears the Mach 3 - the film just seemed to dawdle from there and the end battle bored me.

It's strange actually... I thought we had a very good year for comic book films, but each one (I'm talking about The Dark Knight, The Incredible Hulk, and the aforementioned Iron Man mainly) lacked in action but were nevertheless great films. In a way, I'd say that's a very positive step forward for a genre that has been classed as fluff or 'pop corn'.

I'm hoping that taking your brain into the cinema to watch these films will now become a prerequisite.

^ Out of those three, TIH was the one with more action--I think :whatever:

I'd say Die Hard 4.0 (as we knew it outside the US): big huge over-the-top action scenes (a truck vs a jet? that's sooo full of win, d00d!!!1)

Thats what the thread is about. Good story, bad action. -_-

hahaha damn, I failed so bad :funny:

^ haha we need more smilies--the whatever one is not good enough

I thought TIH had amazing action, thing is we cant look at comic book movies as just action set pieces now, it can be there but not like balls to the wall like Transformers. Oh and i think Bay needs more work cause the man is great for what he does.

More? We have like 50 million smilies already.

Bay should stop directing and start working as an action sequence consultant.. or something like that. Keep him away from the director's chair. Or any chair, for that matter.

There is one chair I wouldn't mind him sitting in :D
