^ Out of those three, TIH was the one with more action--I think![]()
Bay should stop directing and start working as an action sequence consultant.. or something like that. Keep him away from the director's chair. Or any chair, for that matter.
Spider-man and Batman Begins are definitely on this list for me. I liked the origin of Peter Parker and Bruce Wayne but once they become Spider-man and Batman their movies go downhill and it's mainly because of the action sequences.
Spider-man's action sequences with The Goblin were mostly stationary and had boring fist fights. I had pictured these guys raging through the city with Spidey showing his agility and speed and the Goblin showing off his weaponry (ala Peter vs. Harry in SM3). Instead we get Spider-man vs. Goblin in a burning building...yippee. The Time Square battle had a Hollywood backdrop feel and never really moves anywhere either. The end battle is basically the same...another fist fight in a stationary location.
Batman Begins had action that was just edited poorly, period. It's like Nolan went to the Michael Bay school of editing or something. He got a little better with framing and editing in TDK but the convoy chase still had a Michael Bay feel to it. There was nothing cohesive about that scene whatsoever.
You can blame the rating for that oneInteresting. I do feel that some of the Batman action sequences leave something to be desired. I was watching TDK & it's like so much of the action is obscured from our view. We can't really see what's going on with the Batman wanna-be's, I still don't know exactly how Joker killed Gambol, & when the bank exec comes out blasting, at first we think the next-to-last henchman gets shot in the face or something. Only after Joker takes care of the exec, do we find out it's a shoulder wound.

I have seen not one but 2 Goblins brutally impaled in PG-13 movies; what could Joker have done with a knife that was worse than that?
I remember that one; nicely done. What was the rating of Punisher 04?I have seen not one but 2 Goblins brutally impaled in PG-13 movies; what could Joker have done with a knife that was worse than that?
Okay-a lot. Like Punisher did that one henchman, stabbing him through his chin. But surely there's a middle ground that would make for a plausible death & make the manner in which he was dispatched a little clearer.

He had the knife in Gambol's mouth. Use your imagination.

Perhaps Gambol's not dead? Perhaps he just went to hell and back.. and.. no, wait. Oh nevermindI love TDK too but you dont die from getting your cheek slashed, painful? Yes, critical? NO.

How do we know he slashed his cheek? Maybe he stabbed him in the back of the throat. Maybe he shoved the knife into the roof of his mouth. Maybe he slashed his throat.
Who knows? Never saw it. That's what I like about it. Leaves it to your imagination.
Agh don't remind me. The movie's kinda ok but I hate it when they buy the rights and use only the names. They totally butchered the Susan Calvin characterAs for another movie with a great plot and piss poor action I will say I, Robot. Well, that movie sucked altogether compared to the book.

^ and the fights with the dogs were supposed to be a lot longer
I thought I would throw it in because that movie was Will Smith'd and I will still never forgive him for I Am Legend. How could you do that so bad?
I think Ang Lee's Hulk had a great plot and terrible action sequences. Terrible scene witht the pooches and him jumping a mile at a time in the desert. As for the acting and the plot, I liked Ang Lee's plot better.
And they exploded into green dust. Wow....
