Yeah that sounds pretty sweet! Plus makes sense, fish have stuff like that to camouflage from predators.

China release date...Dec 7 .....huh...:ebr:

Wow. Really, WB? No release at the same time everywhere, at the very least in US first?

By December 8th this is gonna be online. Along with spoilers and ****ty quality screenshots.

Piracy won't affect Aquaman's BO.

MCU May openers release a week early in foreign territories (to take advantage of OS holidays) and that hasn't had any substantial impact on the world-wide BO of those movies.

Why risk it though? I doubt the studio wants blurry screenshots floating around. Which they will. but nothing surprises me anymore, they revealed so much in that extended video, they don't care.

MCU used to do that but don't anymore, we got Infnity War same as everyone.

Except for Ant-Man and The Wasp which I specifically didn't go see because it pissed me off that they scheduled the release like month and the half after US.

It is a risk. But I don't think it'll come back to bite them in the a$$.

I was surprised by the length of the video clip too. I guess WB wanted to improve the online conversation/social media index and get more people talking about the movie.

I think that had all to do with avoiding spoilers. MCU will probably go back to their previous release schedule after A4.

Disney's hand was forced by the presence of Football World Cup tho.

JW:FK released in European countries before it's NA premier due to the same reason. Disney was compelled to delay the release dates in EU to steer clear of the knock out stages of the WC.

No it wasn't, actually. I watched all the games I could (some of them were in office hours). I'd go see the film if it was released in that time. but during the time between it was released in USA and finally here so I could see it? I completely lost interest and didn't go. I don't know why anyone thought watching games means people won't go see movies.

As for WB I assume things will bite them in the .... until proved otherwise :)

I think they should change the US release date to Dec 15 th like rest of the world (sans China). It's obvious the CGI effects will be finished earlier, which has allowed them to release the movie earlier in China, so no need to release it on Dec 21 st in US.

You're right, some of the release dates don't overlap with the WC. These are the release dates of AM&TW in the biggest and most important European countries

Belgium 18 July 2018
France 18 July 2018
Netherlands 18 July 2018
Germany 26 July 2018
Hungary 26 July 2018
UK 2 August 2018
Ireland 2 August 2018
Poland 3 August 2018
Italy 11 August 2018 (Milan)
Italy 14 August 2018
Portugal 15 August 2018

I guess Disney didn't want to compete with Mission Impossible: Fallout which is a bigger franchise in foreign countries.

Studios think that kids movies (The Incredibles 2 & HT3) and female skewing movies (O8) are more conducive to succeed due to their counter-programming nature during the WC.

WB already scheduled The Mule for that date tho.

Aquaman will take the IMAX (other premium screens as well) formats from Into The Spider-Verse & Mortal Engines. AQM will hafta share it with MPR & Bumblebee in it's first few days but it'll be able to hold onto them for a longer period because AQM's PLF screens will have more longevity and pull among the GA given the nature of the film and emphasis on special fx.

The majority of countries is getting this on 21st

The release dates are all over the place and I am appalled UK is getting this before The Land of Harle does :funny:

I didn't realise it was a whole week early. Awesome! :D

WB seems confident and with earlier foreign release dates, review embargo might lifted sooner than average WB movies.

I expect the release date to change to 15 th in some countries.

When do the other films open in China? I ask because it seems WB really wants that China money with that date. (I dont know how China BO works)

I wonder if they care more about foreign money and "domestic" reviews more than anything else.

It's possible that WB sees this movie having a better chance to earn money overseas than in US due to competition it faces.
