The All Things Flash Thread. - Part 2

Does anyone have any interest in seeing this now? You’re gonna give WB money to watch this? I’m very curious about OG batman like anybody and SuperGirl too, but F all of that.

Didn’t have any interest in this after hearing about the leaked story elements and this seals the deal

That's my fear.

I wish fans would stop comparing Miller to Heard. Heard may be a horrible person, but it was mostly a personal issue between her and Depp. This individual is an outright menace to society. An ongoing, dangerous threat.

i would compare them as black eyes on WB for continuing to back them given what we know and have see but as far as criminal yeah Ezra is in a league of his own unquestioned. Im surprised the new boss hasn't stepped in yet and shut all this down and forced reshoots. It would be ironic if 2 movies involving the flash in 5 years ended costing over $500 mil for reshoots. That have to be a record of kind

Miller's situation is also complicated by he is the star of the movie. At least as of now. But yeah, if this were me I would replace him. You cannot market a superhero movie, which kids watch and look up to, and have the main hero be a child predator. That just cannot happen

People keep saying “Ezra needs help!”. No his victims need help. Ezra should be in jail
Both need help. If what is being said is true, he absolutely needs to go to jail. Rehabilitation, to the extent it can be done, should be. Also, if you break the law, you pay a price. That’s how I think it should work anyway. We have judges and juries for a reason.

First...WB has no exposure just bad press. No one knew any of this or it would have leaked back around the first arrest. Legal is likely telling them to not act rashly and let it play out so they don't get sued if this all goes sideways. (Which it likely won't) They are probably praying Ezra goes to jail so the "decision " is out of their hands. This is Hollywood plenty of perverted freaks and pedos had/have careers after their stories break.

Second Gustin is great and it would be an easy fix but he is not a movie actor. If you want to use him to cameo that "Barry" got lost and he (GG) is in the speed force looking for him that could work but he is not a film headliner.

Third...barring something weird this film might get canned. Even HBO Max is not a good idea for now. Maybe in a few years you put it up but only long after and if Supergirl gets a film first and is successful.

Honestly Discovery/WB should chalk this up to the end of the AT&T era and walk away. Eat the money. They won't (and likely truly cant) but they would save face and get some positive press out of it. Make Batgirl a theatrical release and put Supergirl out there and if you need the multiversal aspect mentioned talk about how the universe has been screwed up since Barry disappeared and move on. Maybe take some scenes from The Flash and reappropriate them for Supergirl. Never show Flash out of the cowl though.

This whole thing sucks and I don't think Ezra is long for this world.

Heard’s situation is in no way comparable to Ezra’s. Think what you want and I ain’t tryna argue about this in here, but she was let down by the system in a lot of ways. She ain’t a perfect victim (few are), but there is no reasonable way Depp should have won that suit.

Ezra on the other hand has several allegations against them with physical evidence continuing to build up against them. Added to all that is the fact that even in the very unlikely event they’re innocent of everything, they are evading authorities with what I think is (keep me honest here) technically a minor based on tribal law in tow.

It just ain’t the same and does a disservice to survivors of abuse to compare Heard to Ezra. Ezra sits closer to Depp but I don’t think many people will agree sadly.

This is going to end with Zaslav ordering a full reboot of the DCEU. The Flash will get dumped on HBO and it’ll be blamed on the previous regime.

A full reboot is pointless to me. There's a lot about the DCEU that still works and it's better to just double down on those things. Rebooting everything will just inevitably lead to the same problems because WB isn't set up the way Marvel is and will never be able to exactly replicate what they do.

Dump this movie if you have to, but I still want to see the current Wonder Woman/Aquaman/Shazam/Batgirl/Supergirl/Black Adam/Blue Beetle/Peacemaker/Suicide Squad/etc. continue on.

That was a feasible scenario in 1985 because they hadn't finished the movie yet and had only just started production.

They were about five weeks into production with Stoltz before he was fired, so it was definitely well beyond the start of production. They shot a good chunk of the movie with him.

In Eric's case, he was only fired because of his acting. He was a consumate professional.

this is much easier to reshoot as it wasn't a high effects production outside of the time travel scenes. Reshooting mostly dialogue scenes was a less high hill to climb. And what do you know they reshot it and the rest is history.

Man stories like this and jaws and star wars facing adversity during their productions back in the day really gave us some great movies. Hollywood really is missing that factor now

I feel bad for the rest of the cast and crew, especially Calle! Hope they make a Supergirl film in case something happens.

Yes, apparently I was wrong about Stoltz and it was five weeks. Christopher Lloyd said the change was made during the Twin Pines Mall shoot.

One important thing to note is that there wasn't much location shooting for the first film. The majority of the film was done on the Universal backlot and the effects stuff was minimal, so it would be comparably easy to reshoot.

What about Solo?

Wasn't that an expensive Star Wars movie that was almost finished before Disney pulled the plug, replaced the directors and ordered the entire film be reshot?

Even in that case, the circumstances were only about creative differences. Nothing to do with the actors.

In other words, they hadn't completed principal photography and weren't well into post-production.

Invalid comparison. My point stands.

Yes but that was midway through production. It wasn't long completed. Also, that was a costly endeavor by Disney/Lucasfilm that cost them basically hundreds of millions.

Indiana Jones too. In Raiders everybody got dysentery and Ford tore up his knee when an airplane ran over him, forcing them to rewrite the third act. In Temple of Doom, Ford wrecked his back riding the elephant and they had to film for several weeks with Vic Armstrong filling in for Indy.

you are correct and that was a bit different as the cast wasn't replaced rather the directors mid shooting. But then you have fantastic four 2015 where josh trank was fired, I'm not sure when from the movie for being a drunk monster behind the scene.

Movies today its just like oh that actor is sick oh ok we’ll use a stunt double and digitally put them in the shot. Like studios are so lazy now that in superhero movies on set most heroes don't even have real capes as they cgi it in later.

WB should treat this as a great opportunity to face adversity replacing Ezra all together and reshooting his scenes with a new actor. Greatness could be right around the corner but their scared.

You said they just started production. You stated an inaccurate fact. It's okay.

So they replaced Eric Stoltz at a point in production where it was still possible to do so, reshoot his scenes and film the rest with Michael J. Fox. This is not a comparable situation to what is happening with The Flash.
