The All Things Flash Thread. - Part 2

Yeah, I will say, that hype really become an obstacle for me. Because a part of me wanted to believe it. I always want to go into every movie open to the possibility that it overdelivers and absolutely knocks my socks off. The fact that Keaton's Batman is in this movie made me especially want to believe it, because I felt like his return really did deserve something special. Don't get me wrong, I still had a good time though. If this movie had somehow managed to keep Keaton's involvement a secret, and we just discovered where the movie was going in real time as were watching it...then yeah, it probably would've been the most mind-blowing movie ever haha. But again, that's the power of expectations.

You will 100% enjoy the ride based on where your expectations are. I guarantee it. Don't sweat the reviews. Nobody here who loved the trailers should worry about the reviews. The trailers are a very accurate reflection of the tone and feel of the movie. Just don't go in expecting it to soar above that and you'll be fine.
This is exactly why I think I'm gonna have a good time with it. I think it's gonna be a good superhero film and there's nothing wrong with that.

Or if some people wanna psych themselves up, let them? Hahaha. Just let everyone do their own thing. :word:

That isn't what I meant. I just meant if hyping yourself is likely to ruin the experience then just go with the flow and see where the chips fall.

There is a difference between "oh man I can't wait to see this film its gonna be AWESOME!!1!!" and "THIS IS GONNA BE THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER MADE!!1!!". One is fun, the other is gonna likely make the film a letdown.

But I am only suggesting anyways, its not like I have any actual control. Ask my girlfriend :word::funny::wall:

I use to get super hyped for CBM's, as the years have passed, and we have had multiple duds from DC/Marvel/Star Wars/etc. My expectations after seeing a hype trailer is "I hope it's good/entertaining."

I remember being hyped for Green Lantern. Then the reviews came out, and it was just me and my friends + two other people at midnight. Lol!

I'm on the same train. Is like the itch of those movies has mostly been scratched already, if that makes any sense. If something good comes along, well great then! But I'm not anticipating things as much as I did. I don't know if it's me as I'm approaching 40 in a few years, or if the industry pushed me into feeling that way.

The Flash, for me personally, is the last cbm related thing i'm legitimately hyped for unfortunately. I'm starting to get a little burnt out on both marvel and dc and I can see myself scaling back on getting invested and watching all these things. Of all the stuff on the horizon, I'm not legitimately hyped for any of it besides Disney +'s Daredevil series and even that I'm cautiously optimistic since I feel they may screw it up.

I'm in my early 30's. I grew up with Smallville/X-Men/Spider-Man in the 2000s. I was always so hyped for all that, and I agree. Maybe it's a mix of age (having seen so many CBM's) and the fact that I've seen so many duds as well. If you told me 10-15 years ago I wouldn't check out the newest CBM in theaters, I wouldn't believe you. But I've missed multiple in the past few years.

I agree. I'm in the same boat. It feels like I'm watching the same movie over and over again.

I saw GL in a 3D sneak preview which was packed. Saw it a weeks later and crickets.

Back then though you got maybe 1-2 cbms a year... now we have months where we get that. It's just too much especially since movies aren't exactly cheap and don't stick in theaters very long.

We have crossed way beyond the saturation point.

Wow haha. Do you remember the crowd reaction? I even drove to a nicer theater to see it. The last DC movie I saw with a packed house was Man of Steel. Although the Aquaman sneak preview was pretty full too, from my memory.

Yeah it’s weird. I also grew up in that era and there are few comic book films in my lifetime that have had the same level of hype as that first Spider-Man film. It was everywhere and it felt like everyone was looking forward to it. Feels like anticipation on that level for a comic book movie is extremely rare nowadays.

That will happen with any kind of movie when you have one coming out every 2-3 months lol.

I don't remember people hating it but it wasn't much of a reaction. Aquaman people cheered and Wonder Woman there was cheers and crying. Wonder Woman was an experience I won't forget the theater was packed to the gills with a cornucopia of different types of people. You and old women, lgbtq, nerds and couples. When I saw the reaction from that crowd I posted here right away saying this movie is going to be huge. I saw it 3 times and it was always the same.

Got a chance to catch an advanced screening a couple days back - Temper those expectations if you have any. Keaton steals the show, Ezra chews scenery, and wonky CGI. Have no idea how WB and Gunn thought this was one of the best cb movies. WB screwed over Keaton.. this man deserves a Batman Beyond movie done right, he was so good in this.

For those who have seen it, is the CGI really as bad as some are saying?

Well, I checked the thursday showtimes/screenings to see what tickets are available, 7PM showing had two tickets left, and 3PM still had a few openings. I got mine reserved for 3PM.

Can't wait to see it for myself haha.

To me it looked like every other CBM. I havent seen one that really has good visuals.

What films do you think are good so I can compare?
