The All Things Flash Thread. - Part 2

The quality of the film is separate from the actor's personal lives.

At the same time, given some of Ezra's most serious allegations ,and the nature of those allegations , I'm not surprised it comes up in film reviews whether it's fair or not.

This was going to be the case regardless , and Ezra's known actions, and alleged actions ,were always going to be apart of the conversation , regardless of the art vs the artist discussion.

There's a reason WB has kept them out of the lime light, and has tried to emphasize the quality of the film, and those who liked it , over emphasizing how good their lead star is in the film.

They knew this was going to happen.

Ironically enough, I think a number of factors are playing into the opinions about of this film's release , with Ezra being only one of them.

I saw one guy online who was (presumably still is) hoping The Flash would fail purely because Batgirl was shelved. This guy is a die-hard DC fan, and he's hoping a DC movie fails because another DC movie was cancelled. I don't get it.

Whats interesting though is that even negative reviews are praising Miller's performance. I've not seen one ding against Ezra's acting in the film.

The other beat i'm getting from reviews is that the third act is make it or break it for a lot of people. Its apparently very fan-service heavy which is either gonna make you jump outta your seat and geek out or make you groan. This all kind of feels like Multiverse of Madness all over again. Certain people (like myself) geeked the F out at the surprise appearances whereas as others called it shameless fan service. Your mileage will vary. That actually gets me hyped! Cant wait to see who shows up!

Yeah, I'm pretty hyped to see who pops up. I already know of one because the director kinda spoiled it, but I'm sure there's a few more in there!

I thought the same as you about Spiderverse. Good movie but it had some issues. I just have a feeling the comparisons are more bad DC for promoting Ezra and great for Marvel because Spiderverse has diversity. Campea has both films as his favorites for the year so far but you can tell his issues with Ezra affects his opinion of the movie.

Campea and Rob were more than fair to the Flash I think, it was his co hosts that were outright rejecting something with Ezra. All he really said is that Ezra was done no matter what, which I think was a fair take.

I say this as someone who watches Campea, also someone who is annoyed at him that for someone who enjoyed the DCEU for the most part, he joined the mob against Snyder at a critical moment.

Yeah, I'm gonna be geeking hard! :woo:

I know Grace is hated on this board but she said YouTuber’s get clicks for hating on DC. Campea for the most part loves DC and Snyder. Hopefully in two years Superman Legacy won’t be controversial. I just want to see good entertainment.

There used to be a time where CGi was inserted into real backgrounds and environments, and the effect was pretty good for a while.
The thing is nowadays everything is CGi. They just can't fool the eye. We know what's going on, we've been trained.
It can make a film maker lazy, and imo it is used entirely too much.
Sometimes, practical effects are much better.

Wait...people complain that a movie is servicing their fandom? And that is a real thing? I get complaining about blatant cash grabs but fan service? I guess if you hate whatever the references are that could be annoying but in something like this? I wonder how those types of people felt about Days of Futures Past...

I dunno I guess if the film is supposed to be super serious and such then maybe it would feel out of place but this is a friggin Flash Story where he travels through time and breaks the friggin multiverse if they didn't do certain things the outrage would be a thousand times worse! Isnt the whole point of these films to be fan service? Shouldn't we be sitting in the theaters or watching on our big screens dropping our jaws because "OMG THEY JUST DID THAT!!!!!!111"?

I must be old...I remember when that was the point. Now apparently it is taboo. :grrr:

Gal Gadot would say otherwise. He is a misogynistic weasel.

Remember when people got mad at MoM last year because there wasnt enough fan service? "what?! No Tom Cruise as Iron Man??! The internet promised me he'd be in it!" :funny:

Did you read the negative reviews of The Batman. The reviews were comical on why they didn’t like the movie. Original Wonder Woman negative reviews were just is dumb. I am just going to have a good time next Friday. Hopefully know one spoils it for me.

I remember sitting in the cinema watching The Dark Knight Rises. When Bane broke Batman's back there was this loud, collective 'Yesss!! Knightfall!!!' from the audience, which my daughter thought was hilarious. It was as though they'd rehearsed it! :funny:

They got Jim From The Office as Mr. Fantastic they can shut it! ;)

The people who whined there want enough wing do that here. I'm not sure they could do any more outside on thing that was left out which was surprising. I mean unless the Timmverse showed up!

The Flash runs fast

(Not a real spoiler)

Yeah that was awesome! I said "he broke the bat!!!" to my buddy and he punched me in the shoulder with excitement!

Stupid fan service ;)

Even if the Flash makes only the 70 million low end of the projection opening weekend it still could have a big box office with the world box office and the summer crowd in America because kids will be out of school. The Flash could easily have big international following similar to Aquaman. At the very least it appears to be action pact.

I think with most recent films with big box office success, word of mouth is the biggest contributor. Look at Mario & Guardians. I think Guardians projections were pretty low and it ended up having great legs.

The Flash definitely strikes me as a crowd pleaser judging from all the reactions and reviews. Can definitely see it having good holdovers, even in a competitive market.

Guardians got an immediate bump in its presales right after reviews and screenings. That hasn't happened for The Flash.

Just read a review where they said Keaton is basically only there to say his catchphrases...really hope that's not the case

Seems like a way oversimplification just for an edgy blurb box. Everything we know about his role, even from just the trailers, suggests he'll have a big impact on Barry.

On fan service, before the multiverse films all started people were all screaming for it. For people over here in one universe to interact with people in this other universe. Fans finally get to see these interactions in multiple films and then decide it's too much? Like what did you expect from a film that was trying to make this work, a film that made complete sense? The whole idea of it is clearly to be a crowd pleaser, and if its a good film while doing such then that's a massive achievement.

It's all very I decided I won't like it and will find a way to moan about it. It's why I'm done with the genre now outside of massive event films because fans and critics have become so tiresome.
