ichael Jackson was literally sued for raping children. I still see Thriller at every record store I go to even today. No one seems to be banning R. Kelly Albums from being purchased. How many films has Woody Allen made since he was first accused of molesting his own kids? (not to mention marrying his adopted daughter)
MJ went on trial , and his career was never the same , basically until he died.
Even after he died , allegations came out against him and tainted his image again.
R Kelly is reviled as Singer .
Woody Allen has made films but he's pretty much pushed in the corner.
If your point is that all 3 of them still have fans, that's not debatable .
There are alot of people in fandom who would look past the allegations because they want to see the film anyway.
Though the reality is, fair or not, none of the 3 of them career's have been the same after their allegations.
Ezra Miller isn't in anywhere
near the same league the same league of popularity ,and being beloved, as the 3 you mentioned.
So if those 3 can suffer , what do think will happen with Ezra?
And FWIW Ezra hasn't been convicted or even charged with child grooming as far as I know. Not saying he didn't do it (good god I hope he didnt) but I think you are putting the cart before the horse a bit.
Not really putting the cart before the horse.
The horse is out of the barn and running along the country side.
The issue is on the table, fair or not and the issue is going to a court , though their still trying to serve as Ezra.
If you think we should withhold judgment until then , that's your opinion .
I believe the parents of the minors.
Even putting that aside , this is gonna be hashed out in the court of public opinion , which WB clearly cares very much about , otherwise Ezra's issues wouldn't matter to them.
WB saying " They haven't been tried or convicted for child grooming allegations" ain't gonna be the PR strongest argument .
That's an argument for their attorney and representatives, and it's clearly not an argument WB wants to have .
Now, if they say , " We think they're innocent and we stand by them", that's a different story.
There won't be a "poor Ezra" narrative" that is for damned sure. The guy is a toxic sludge mess. The Flash will be his last film for at least a decade. (I never count anyone out people stop caring about everything sooner or later) There would have been a time early on he could have gotten the narrative shifted but we are long past that now. (unless the vast majority of the stories are untrue, which I highly doubt) The piling on at this point, the daily articles keeping it in the news means this will never truly go away even if they seek help and go on a 5 year apology tour. And if he is a groomer there is no help for that anyways. WB can only push forward and let the story play out/end. Option 2 is really the only logical choice even if Ezra gets all the help. They need to be nowhere near the film when it is released.
If that's how you feel , that's how you feel.
WB clearly has put the option of scrapping it on the table, wise or not.
