This is a heavily SFX movie which means many cut scenes probably weren't finished so it would probably cost Sony millions more to complete those scenes, and even more if they actually needed the cast to come back for any pick ups and then have Webb re-edit.

There's also the question of whether Webb's preferred cut is a) different b) better or c) something Sony wants out there.

Sony screwed over both franchises. I'm pretty sure this is not the world Marc intended. Also we were told by teekay that he saw the rough cut a while ago so it's probably finished.

A rough cut can have unfinished scenes in it

Then I guess we'll have to ask teekay if the stuff he saw was either finished or unfinished. Though this doesn't excuse dialogue that were in the trailer. I just don't care if some of the things aren't even finished I want to see a great movie from spidey and I know we'll get one soon.

It made $7,875,000 WW last weekend.

Domestic: $3.775m ($192,732,297)
O/S: $4.1m ($497,300,000)
WW: $690,032,297

It has at best $7-9m more left domestically. It loses China this week and looks to do about $5-6m more O/S. That's $12-15m. That takes it to at most $705m WW. If it all of a sudden develops insane legs and makes $5m more it might reach $710m.

according to the ratio, shouldn't the OS left is about $20M???

It made 16-17 million between May 25 and June 1. Doing 50%, for the following weeks, 8, 4, 2 and 1. So about 15 mil.

It's losing China though, I don't see it getting much more. I gotta go with Tali

TASM2 crosses $500 million overseas!

http://www.deadline.com/2014/06/the-amazing-spider-man-2-crosses-500m-overseas/

Sony‘s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has become the first studio film released in 2014 to cross the $500M mark internationally. As of this morning, the sequel to the reboot has an overseas cume of $500.1M.
...
The webslinger has traditionally done particularly well overseas in his various incarnations; the only previous take to pass $500M overseas was the Sam Raimi-directed Spider-Man 3 in 2007.

Hopefully the movie crosses the 700m mark this weekend :yay:

Will the movie make more WW then captian America 2 I think that is the question now?

For what is worth in my town they already stopped showing the movie after Friday may 30 so that is 4 weeks to be eczack form when the movie came out and in the town where I normally see movies Thursday june 5th is the last day they are going to show it so just over a month. Man its a good thing I used my free fando spider man ticket on sunday to see the movie for a 3erd time or it would have went to wast. I thought the movie would be out for like other week or so maybe more. I would say usly movies are in theaters for about a month and a half around where I live so this is about 2 weeks shorter then Norman just shows how the movie is having week legs. Frozzen was in theaters around where I live for like 4 month but that was by far the longest I had seen a movie in theaters around hear.

Does anyone know if the original Amazing Spider-man was re-released in theaters anywhere overseas recently? The International gross for TASM just went up 5 million on Box Office Mojo yesterday from 490 to 495.

The film will still make a billion, it's got good legs! We just need the Antarctic reviews to come rolling in and the RT score will be at 70% by tomorrow!

That's Avenging Spidey talking.

Well we haven't taken into account how much gross this movie is going to get from the Outer Space Market.

Most of the VFX were done except for the Power Plant battle and some of the Times Square battle.

how did peter develop as a character?

was uncle ben important

and since you've mention rhino building the suit how did he build it and was there a scene of him putting the plutonium in the suit?

Yeah but studios only get around 5% of the gross on these markets due to sky-high distribution costs (pun intended) so they are not that important :woot:

We had a few theaters offering double-feature showings with TASM2 in France during the film's first week of release and I think TASM got a short run in select theaters prior to TASM2's release too.

Only How to Train your Dragon left for the year of movies I am excited about.
I will of course see GotG but I can't say I'm excited for it.

Goblin fight was longer than what was in the film. Basically look at it this way, remember what happened when Zod threatened Superman's mother? Same thing happens to Harry here.

Well Peter's character arc comes full circle in this one despite having 3 people die in his life for him to finally learn responsibility. He now knows that people in his life are in danger and I don't think he'll be telling MJ soon about who he really is.

Yes he was referenced and shown in flashbacks. Key moment was when Peter was about to kill Harry, he remembers Uncle Ben's words before webbing him up.

Nope, it was hinted at and I was going by the director's words here. It's not shown but Aleksei at the end implies that he builds it to take down Spidey.)

The rough cut indeed sounds like an entirely different movie. How is your comparison review coming out?
