but we have to question why are they making a tech suit that looks like a rhino? unless there will be a cheat around it, maybe the horns will be added later by the mobster

The quickest way to explain a rhino would be cross species

quickest does not equal best lol.

i could pretty easily see them explaining that an oscorp tech suit designed for the military had been stolen by russian mobsters.

a good script, hell, even a mediocre one, could easily explain to the audience that oscorp has tech-based applications. they don't just do cross species research. it'd be so lame if they did imo.

also a mech suit is probably more grounded than cross species genetics anyway, so the GA won't be confused in that regard.

ps.

yeah i like the adding of the horn idea. that could work.

yeah i agree, i'm just thinking they won't want to retread the lizard angle, especially when he was pretty poorly received.

paul is a much more entertaining actor compared to rhys ivans imo, so turning him into a cross species seems like a waste of good casting.

but yeah, you have to remember that the lizard IS cross species, in all media, he is a giant lizard-man.

rhino on the otherhand... well, there's much more variability there, but besides the lame video game tie in, they have all kept the augmented human angle.

Except the USM show...but I hate that version just as much as the video game version

Once they don't have Spidey making him charge into electrical fences, then alls good.

WAIT!!
Maybe Spidey will be fighting Electro and Rhino at the same time and use the Rhino somehow to charge into Electro, causing Rhino to be electrocuted and Electro to be knocked out. Two birds, one stone.

would anyone here be...let down if the RHINO didn't have a horn? so the suit would just be a technologically advanced /military grade suit. Like USM R.H.I.N.O would only be an abreviation, or refer to the materials the suit is? like instead of mechanic or metal, would be just like a really tough hide...like a Rhinos skin. Just throwing ideas around lol

Give me this and I'll be happy

if you say so.

I wouldn't say he was incredibly poorly received Repulsor...I personally preferred both Connors and Lizard over all three SM3 villains. My only wish is that they included Connors' deleted scenes...none of those should've been excised.

i didn't either. i said he was pretty poorly received. he wasn't spider-man 3 bad by any means, but i have noticed that no one mentions lizard as a STRENGTH of tasm1. They instead mention the cast, or the drama elements, or spidey's movement etc. Furthermore, when people are arguing about whether the movie was bad or not, they seem to all agree that the lizard could have been done better. just something i have noticed.

maybe the lizard detractors are a vocal minority, but i dunno, personally i found him underwhelming.

Lizard was perceived like TASM was in general: With a "meh". Not good, not bad.

I can agree with that. TASM was one of the first movies I watched deleted scenes for where I went "Why were these not in the movie?!" Connors' scenes especially would've fleshed out his character...hell, that scene he has with Billy was so great... how it acts as a dark parallel of Ricard and Peter's opening scene.

i guess the only concrete thing we can take away from this new photo is that paul is not playing JJ.

which begs the question, will he even be in the movie?

Personally I have trouble picturing that albino Russian Goomba getting his hands on some Oscorp cross-species stuff. I'd expect something more like a suit. Though I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

By the looks of it, if they do go with having Rhino in the movie. I doubt they're gonna go the ultimate route with the mechanical suit. I doubt a Russian mob gangster would be able to control a huge mechanical suit. So now I'm thinking they're gonna go with the cross species Rhino.

Well... I don't think he'll be a straight up cross species.

I really just see them doing the 616 Rhino executed in the style of the "SM3 the game" version of him.

Genetic enhancements coupled with cybernetic enhancements to give him all the attributes of a Rhino.

Look wise though, I expect the armor/cybernetics to resemble more the Ultimate Rhino suit, just over top skin.

I had a feeling this is how Rhino would go down, but I was a little hesitant to say anything. He could very well end up as the full-fledged Rhino later down the line, but if this is his only look through the film then Webb might be taking a hint from the all-new Ultimate Spider-Man. One of the first villains Miles goes up against is the Ultimate Scorpion:

He was basically a Mexican drug dealer who had Luke Cage-ish type powers. I'm thinking Rhino might end up being something similar. Still a mobster, but enhanced slightly with Rhino DNA and given a strength boost. It could end up being something to the effect of Norman perfecting the formula to somewhat mirror what happened to Peter, i.e. they get all the benefits of the animal but don't actually turn into it like Connors did.

Food for all ya'lls thoughts.

I'm loving the Russian gangster look and I personally feel that they will go the Ultimate route for Rhino. If they're Russian mercenaries, they would want an unstoppable weapon to use against New York to take it hostage, and that would be the mechanical suit.

Of course, they could very well go and do the 616 Rhino, and have it where he has some kind of accelerator-boots or whatnot that allows him to charge, but it might look silly. I think two cross-species genetics villains might be a little much, but if the videogame isn't being treated as canon anymore than by all means... let's see it if it's the only viable solution to seeing ol' hornhead on the big screen.
